Story
A second chance Cinderella story Sometimes the new beginnings in life for the puppies in this world are not the warm and fuzzy starts we wish for them. Gunnerman's story began in the hands of a homeless person who had temporary housing but unfortunately did not have the resources to provide this young puppy with the veterinary care and stability he needed. Gunnerman had a wound on his face that required medical attention, and thankfully, he received the care he desperately needed only to soon afterward have his owner get evicted.  The call came to us that Gunnerman was now outside with his owner and nowhere to go with no safe place to call home. That is when Critter Cavalry Rescue stepped in again, along with a kind foster dad who opened his heart and home to this handsome brindle boy. Together, we are determined to give Gunnerman the second chance he deserves and find him a strong, dog-savvy family who understands his needs and will surround him with love, guidance, and the steadfast certainty that his future will be a good one.We believe Gunnerman is a Malinois Shepherd mix, a type of Shepherd that many people may not be familiar with. Malinois are known for their intelligence, loyalty, athleticism, and incredible devotion to their people. They are quick learners and form very strong bonds with the humans they love. Gunner is already showing us those wonderful qualities at just about four months old. This boy is a lover of people and other creatures. We have not had the opportunity to introduce him to cats yet, but because he is still so young and has such a friendly, open personality, we believe that with the proper introduction, he could potentially become a cat's best friend and protector. Of course, any cat introduction would need to be done carefully and responsibly.Gunnerman has plenty to learn about life, but one thing he already does beautifully is bond with his person. He greets new experiences with curiosity, interest, and a happy smile. This boy is definitely not a shrinking violet! Gunnerman is ready to march off into the day with excitement and anticipation for whatever fun and adventure comes next.We anticipate that Gunnerman will grow into a handsome 50-pound adult, and we believe he is going to be one of the most loyal companions a family could ask for. He is working on his housebreaking and doing well with it, and like any young Shepherd mix, he will need continued training, structure, exercise, mental stimulation, and someone who will patiently help him become the wonderful adult dog he is destined to be.We do require that Gunnerman's forever family have a fenced and secure backyard where he can safely run, roam, explore, and smell all the wonderful things the great outdoors has to offer. Curiosity is definitely part of this boy's Shepherd heritage, and Gunner loves using his nose to investigate the world around him.We think Gunnerman is going to have a true Cinderella story. He started life without the security and stability every puppy deserves, but his story is changing now. We are so excited to watch this beautiful boy grow, learn, bond, and blossom into the loyal and devoted companion we know he can become.Gunnerman's future is waiting for him, and he will be forever grateful to the person or family who gives him the life he has always deserved. And so will all of us at Critter Cavalry Rescue. If you believe you may be the right forever home for this special boy, please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com. IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE REVIEW OUR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE TO BEGIN THE PROCESS. ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS MAY MEET THE AVAILABLE DOGS IN THE GSRNJ PROGRAM - WWW.GSRNJ.ORG*** 🐾💙 Meet Benny, an 8–10 month old Belgian Malinois/German Shepherd mix with a big personality and an even bigger heart. This handsome young guy is full of life, curiosity, and that classic Malinois drive—he’s always ready to learn, play, and be part of the action. From the moment you meet him, Benny makes his enthusiasm known. He greets people with excitement and quickly settles into affection, enjoying pets, head scratches, and even full-body hugs without hesitation. He’s confident, social, and thrives on interaction with his humans. Benny already has a great foundation—he knows “sit” and “paw,” is highly food motivated, and loves toys (especially a good game of tug or fetch). He takes direction well and will excel with continued training and structure. Like many young working-breed dogs, he can be a little mouthy at times and will benefit from guidance as he matures. He walks nicely on leash but is still learning his manners, so continued leash training will be important. Benny is also a high-energy pup who will need both physical exercise and mental stimulation to stay happy and balanced. 🐕 Dog-friendly: Yes, but prefers smaller dogs and will require a meet & greet 🐱 Cats: No cats for Benny 🦴 Food motivation: High (training dream!) 🎾 Favorite things: Toys, tug, fetch, and being with his people Benny has shown no signs of food or object guarding and handled all handling tests with ease—even things like paw handling, tail touching, and vet-style exams. He’s a confident, resilient pup who just needs the right environment to thrive. Benny needs to be neutered and we would love to find him a foster home to facilitate this. Because of his energy level and breed mix, Benny is looking for an experienced home familiar with Malinois or working breeds—someone ready to continue his training, provide structure, and help him reach his full potential. If you’re ready for a loyal, intelligent, and fun-loving companion, Benny might just be your perfect match 🐾✨ 📩 Apply to adopt Benny today!

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING, PLEASE REVIEW OUR ADOPTION REQUIREMENTS AND COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION ON OUR WEBSITE TO BEGIN THE PROCESS. ONLY APPROVED ADOPTERS MAY MEET THE AVAILABLE DOGS IN THE GSRNJ PROGRAM - WWW.GSRNJ.ORG*** Meet Bella! 🖤 Bella is a 3½-year-old Belgian Malinois with the intelligence, athleticism, and drive the breed is known for. At approximately 75 pounds, she's a fun-loving girl who is always ready to chase a ball, play with her favorite toys, and spend time with her people. She's incredibly agile (she even hopped right onto the exam table during her evaluation!) and would thrive with an active adopter with Malinois or working dog breed experience who enjoys training and engaging with their dog. Bella knows several commands, including sit, give paw, and place, and she passed her temperament evaluation with flying colors. She happily accepted handling all over her body, allowed a full exam, showed no reaction to startling noises, and loved interacting with her evaluator. While she can be vocal when meeting new people, she warms up quickly and enjoys attention. Bella's ideal home is one where she can be the only pet. In a previous home, she developed owner/resource guarding behaviors around another dog in the household, which led to conflicts. Interestingly, she has done well with dogs in daycare and during evaluations, so her challenges are specific to sharing a home—not simply being around other dogs. Because of this, she'll do best as your one and only companion. She is also looking for a home with teens 14 years and older and no cats. Bella is spayed, microchipped, and has already had a preventative gastropexy procedure. She's ready to leave shelter life behind and find someone who understands the Malinois breed—or is committed to learning—and is looking for an incredibly loyal, active partner. If you're searching for a smart, toy-obsessed adventure buddy who will thrive with structure, training, and plenty of exercise, Bella may be the perfect match for you.

Story
Brewer is a sweet girl who will make a lovely pet for an active home. She has learned basic commands, loose leash walks, and does the treadmill everyday. A Belgian Malinois is an active working breed, she will need to go into a home where she has training and an outlet for her energy and intelligence. Malinois thrive on guidance and routine, they are awesome dogs in the right home, and a nightmare in the wrong one. A Malinois is NOT a dog, they are a lifestyle. If you think you got the grit, she could be your new best friend. She is about 12 months old and is about 50 pounds. All our dogs/pups are spayed/neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. They have been dewormed and are current on vaccinations. Our adoption fee includes 30 days of complimentary medical insurance for your new pet. Breed and size is frequently a guess and can not be guaranteed. Our dogs are fostered on a private residence, we do not have a free standing shelter. They live on a farm where they run and play with other dogs, cats, horses, and barnyard fowl. Initial contact with us must be made through e-mail. E-mail ARFofMercer@gmail.com directly for an adoption application or with any questions. Once your adoption application is approved, you will be invited to meet our dogs/puppies.

Story
*Mo is currently in foster in Puerto Rico. His $350 adoption fee includes his vetting to date (neutering as well) and travel to his adoptive home. Apply today!* Meet Mo, the most cuddly German Shepherd mix you've met in awhile. :) He leans into hugs and is such a sweet boy. He is a major people pleaser; he LOVES kids, and all humans. He has had mixed interactions with other dogs and should not be with cats, therefore he is best suited to be an only animal in the home due to his survival instincts learned on the streets. Although he was abandoned, he has been vetted to great overall good health after making his way around "his new block" while neighbors fed and watered him until PRDF could take on his case. He is an adventurous, friendly, happy gentleman and would love nothing more than to be around people all day! Mo would be great for an active home, as Belgian / German Shepherds / larger dogs need that exercise and stimulation. We think he is around 6 years old, and has a lot of love and life ahead of him. Make Mo part of your family! Check out the work we do at PRDF.org on Instagram or FaceBook. We look forward to hearing from you about your interest in Sweet Mo!
