Story
Fenyx has been settling in well into his foster home. He is super smart and wants to please, so we think he would be great for someone who likes to mold their pup into a great canine citizen! He is such a wiggle butt when learning, super eager, very puppy-like and high energy, but he does learn quickly and it's really fun to watch him grow and thrive! He is learning so much: House manners Potty trained Foster works on eye contact through hand feeding Sit, Down, Place, Crate, Stay, Bed, Here, Stand, Leave it esp around prey [all in progress vs prooved] .  He's being trained in German mostly but once dogs learn the behavior it's not that hard to change the language.  Working on luring in Heel posiitons and Loose Leash Walking Touch command Off leash work - doing well but at this time he can only go where he won't run into stranger dogs, however he can recall from prey Ecollar conditioning Hind Leg awareness work Thresholds Calm behavior and reducing impulsivity and reactivity Independent sleeping/resting - working on needing less reassurance Crate training He is quiet and clean in the crate! He does whine at times and in the car he needs a cover, but he sleeps through the night. However, he is sensitive to sounds and may bark at times esp with fireworks. He's been learning the ropes of living in a home and sharing the space with other dogs. He integrated into the foster's pack easily and quickly with proper introductions! At first, he didn't really know what to make of his foster sister's attempts to play, but he has finally given in and they love romping around the yard. It took him a bit to learn what proper play ettiquette is but he had a good teacher! So, with proper introductions, he can be good with other dogs. He would do best with dogs who are good confident teachers and overall neutral. However, he can be reactive with stranger dogs! We suspect that it's because he has not had much socialization, possibly because he was crated all his life, that he can become over-stimulated very quickly when seeing stranger dogs, prey animals, helicopters, loud bangs/noises, etc. He needs continued training to help him become more confident. His reactivity depends heavily on the situation and can range from whining to lunging. What he have learned is that the world is very just a bit too much for him still and he trigger stacks quickly. He needs a lot of downtime before he can recover. He is not meant to be a city dog, at least not for some time! He would need much work to be able to handle busy areas and passing dogs without reacting.  Fenyx loves affection, pets, cuddles, hugs from his person! He is the best weighted blanket, the best dancer and hugger! He has the sweetest face that you can't resist! He uses his legs in the funniest ways. He will just lean on you b/c he knows you're his rock! He loves to be close and touching. He can sometimes be a trip hazard but could also be an amazing contact heeler! He's the quintessential VELCRO dog! This is a wonderful thing, but he has a high tendency to resource guard his person! Resource guarding is one of the most seen issues in this breed! Giving him too much attention/affection and too few boundaries will exacerbate his insecurities and consequently his reactivity. Hence, he is not a party boy, family dog or Golden Retriever-type dog. He is more like a soldier who needs instructions and wants to work or he becomes dysregualated! He might enjoy scent work or NASDA as he does not let go of a scent when he catches it! His foster took him to barn hunt and NASDA intro and once he caught a wiff of the rats, he was very interested. He will need to learn to focus and then can likely hone that skill.  Ideal Home:Highly Experienced and breed-savvy home!He would love someone who is excited about training sessions, takes him on adventures in the forest vs the city and sets good boundaries! He has A LOT of prey drive - definitely will keep you safe from squirrles - but we recommend No children or small dogs or prey animals in the home. His foster experiences him as the sweetest, most affectionate and cuddly dog there is BUT he is not like that with others after he bonds deeply with his human. He will need a human who really, really gets the Malinois mind in an insecure body! He needs someone who understands a rescue Malinois! He needs someone who is willing to take on a challenge and run with it because it will make a difference in a dog's life! He needs a lot of boundaries, structure, confidence building and proper introduction to the world  Fenyx has so much LOVE to give and is just waiting for his furever match! Would that be you?   We really hope YOU are out there!  He is currently [3/28-4/11] in board and train where he is working on his reactivity! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ If you are interested in adopting this pet please complete an application! Story
Meet Mara a beautiful Belgian Malinois girl who is equal parts adventure buddy and cuddle bug! This sweet pup is looking for a home committed to continuing her training and helping her grow into the incredible dog she is becoming. She’s a confident little lady who absolutely thrives around other dogs and loves having canine friends around. She’s also doing great living with cats, chickens, goats, and other dogs, making her quite the farm-life superstar. She loves being included in whatever is going on and is happiest when she can follow her people around and be part of the action. Like many Malinois puppies, she’s smart, funny, and full of personality. She keeps her foster family laughing daily with her goofy antics and big opinions. She can be a spicy little thing at times and is learning appropriate dog manners and boundaries, so she’ll need a family committed to continuing her training and socialization as she grows. Outside of puppy shenanigans, she has a softer side too. Once she’s done exploring, she turns into a complete couch potato and is happiest sprawled out on top of her humans for hours soaking up cuddles. She’s currently working on crate training and potty training and making progress every day. She’s already doing well during the daytime with potty habits and has started practicing off-leash skills, naturally wanting to stay close and follow her people around. As a Belgian Malinois puppy, she’ll need a home ready to provide her with ongoing mental stimulation, training, structure, and exercise. In return, you’ll get a loyal, intelligent, hilarious best friend who will keep life interesting and love you with her whole heart.

Story
Gennaro is an outgoing, social puppy who loves meeting new people and making new friends. She’s incredibly friendly with veterinary staff, enjoys neighborhood walks and adventures at the tree farm, and approaches life with endless curiosity. She loves to climb and explore anything she can reach. While loud barking behind fences can make her a little nervous, she remains very dog-social and eagerly wants to greet every dog she sees. She appears more sensitive to the noise itself than to the dogs. She’s confident in new environments and has even slept through an outdoor concert. Until her vaccines are complete, she travels comfortably in a carrier and adjusts well to new experiences. Gennaro also has some funny quirks — she happily drinks from the garden hose or kitchen sink whenever given the chance. Gennaro is developing both her food and toy motivation and is showing lots of promise in training. She loves soft tug toys and is learning that fetch means bringing the toy back, though she still thinks moving leashes are fair game for tugging too. She has started clicker training and already offers an automatic sit in hopes of treats or attention. She enjoys Kongs, food puzzles, and is beginning to learn recall, down, and heel using positive reinforcement. She is doing very well with crate training and typically only vocalizes when she needs to go potty. She’s particular about where she likes to poop in the yard and may try to hold it if she can’t access her preferred spot. She tolerates baths and nail trims well, especially with the help of Kong cheese spray as a reward. She has also adjusted nicely to riding quietly in a crate in the car, especially when she can stay close to her person. Gennaro is still learning appropriate dog manners and would likely thrive with a playful younger dog companion. She currently lacks good manners around cats and small animals, often trying to play by tackling, so she will need guidance and supervision. Depending on how her drive develops as she matures, she may not be suitable for a home with cats long term. She has not yet been introduced to children. She has the potential to become an incredible adventure companion and could excel in activities such as hiking, Fast CAT, dock diving, agility, nose work, or even beginner bite work. While she does not currently show the drive for detection work, she is still very young and may continue to mature over time. Gennaro would make an excellent companion for an active, adventurous owner — especially someone who enjoys hiking, backpacking, travel, or van life. She may also be a wonderful introduction to higher-energy working breeds for the right person. Continued crate training and building independence skills will be important for her development to help prevent separation anxiety and encourage confidence when left alone. Note: Gennaro has a small notch in one ear from a play accident with an older dog. It is purely cosmetic.

Meet the Jurassic Park Litter & Momma Indy 🦖🐾 These incredible pups—our Jurassic Park Litter—and their amazing mom, Indy, have a rescue story worth celebrating. Indy and her puppies were placed on a euthanasia list at a California shelter, and we knew we couldn’t let their story end there. Thanks to a donated freedom ride, they made their way safely to Bellingham and into a loving foster home. Indy has been an exceptional mom, raising a happy, healthy, and well-socialized litter. These pups have been growing up in a foster home environment and have been an absolute joy—loving, smart, and full of personality. These puppies are Belgian Malinois, a highly intelligent, loyal, and energetic working breed. Malinois are known for forming strong bonds with their people and excelling in training—but they are not your average dog. They require daily physical exercise, consistent mental stimulation, and structure to thrive. 👉 Learn more about the Belgian Malinois breed here: https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/belgian-malinois/ Because of the needs of this breed, a family committed to training is required. Prior experience with working breeds is a plus, and these pups will do best in active homes ready to invest time, consistency, and leadership into helping them grow into well-balanced adult dogs. If you’re ready for a loyal, driven, and incredibly rewarding companion, one of these pups could be the perfect fit for you. Story
Meet Indy – Our Incredible Momma Malinois 💛 Indy is a beautiful three-year-old Belgian Malinois who has already proven just how special she is. She was found as a very pregnant stray and gave birth to 11 puppies in a crowded shelter. When Indy and her puppies were placed on the euthanasia list, we knew we couldn’t let that be their story. Thanks to a donated freedom ride, Indy made her way from California to Washington and into a loving foster home where she has truly thrived. Indy has been an amazing mom. She has raised all 11 of her puppies with patience and care, teaching them important social skills and proper manners. Now that her puppies are growing up, it’s finally Indy’s turn to find the forever home she deserves. She does great on walks, has attended adoption events, and has met several other dogs with positive interactions. As her puppies are weaned, she will continue to be introduced to more dogs in off-leash and free-play settings. Indy is a large girl, weighing around 90 lbs, and like many Malinois, she is intelligent, loyal, and driven. She will need a home that understands the needs of her breed and is committed to providing daily mental stimulation, structure, and physical exercise. If you’re not familiar with the breed, we highly recommend doing your research to ensure it’s the right fit: https://www.akc.org/dog-breeds/belgian-malinois/ Indy has given everything to her puppies—now it’s her turn to be someone’s whole world. Story
Meet Poppy the blooming beauty who is ready to plant some serious joy in your life! If you’re looking for a partner in crime for every trail and trek, this vibrant girl is ready to grow right alongside you. Poppy is a total firecracker with a heart of gold and a personality that sparkles! She is the definition of "life of the party," greeting every single person she meets like a long lost best friend. Don't let her athletic prowess fool you Poppy is a "Gentle Giant" through and through. Whether she’s giving out enthusiastic hugs or showing off her lightning fast learning skills, Poppy brings an infectious, super fun energy to every room she enters. She’s the kind of dog who makes every day feel like a sunny afternoon in the park. Believe us her moves are something you don’t want to miss, See her zoomies in action! https://youtu.be/Yzc8F6Ou5MA What makes Poppy truly special is her incredible bond with her humans; she is a total velcro dog who just wants to be where the action is! While she has the drive of an adventurer, she is also a world class lounger who loves to hang out on the couch after a day of play. She loves her "private mini room!" Poppy is crate trained and views her space as a cozy sanctuary to relax. She’s been living and playing with smaller dogs (around 17 lbs) and has shown she’s a social butterfly who loves to lick her foster siblings' faces every morning to say "hello." She’s a smart cookie who picks up on house rules in a heartbeat! Poppy knows exactly how to scale down her play to be gentle with small dogs, and she’s a master of the "play bow" to make sure everyone knows she’s a friend, not a foe. She is a dream on a walk and a proud member of the loose leash club. No pulling here just a girl who loves to stroll and take in the sights. No accidents here! She is a pro at keeping her space clean and follows a household routine perfectly. Incredibly smart, perfectly gentle, and always ready for the next ride. She is a loving explorer at heart, always ready to navigate a new hiking trail or scout out the best local coffee shop patio with you by her side. We suspect Poppy is a Belgian Malinois mix, which means she’s got the brains and the beauty! Weighing in at a sleek 45 pounds, she is that perfect medium size big enough to keep up on a run, but compact enough to easily hop in the car for a weekend getaway. Of course, with any rescue, her breed is a bit of a mystery, but her intelligence and stunning coat are 100% pure bred Good Girl. When it comes to other dogs, Poppy is a social superstar! She loves a good game of chase and is a play bow professional. She isn't just a pretty face (though that coat and those perked up ears speak for themselves!). She’s a vocal girl, but not for no reason she just loves to chat and invite her friends to join the party. Great with friends, but is just as happy to be your one and only! She would be happiest in a home with a medium energy dog who can keep up with her fun loving wrestling matches but also knows when it’s time to take a collective nap. Whether she’s sharing her favorite toys, wrestling on the couch, or inviting a buddy to play with one of her signature "are you ready to play" chirps, she is a polite and playful companion who would make an amazing addition to a multi dog household. Poppy thinks she’s the star of the show, so she’s looking for a feline free home! She’d much rather spend her time focusing on her human friends or playing "tag" with her canine buddies than worrying about what a kitty is up to. To keep everyone happy and wagging, she’s sticking to a cat free lifestyle where she can be her best, bouncy self. The ideal home for Poppy is one that matches her zest for life! Because she’s a brilliant working breed mix, she’d love an active adopter who enjoys training or outdoor adventures. She would adore a house with a yard to zoom in, but she could also be a rockstar apartment dog for a active person who treats the city as their playground. Something cute about her? She’s a talker with her paws she’ll invite you to play with the most adorable little dances! In Short: Poppy is Perfection! She is a brilliant, affectionate, and adventurous soul who is just waiting for the right person to lead the way. She’s also a bit of a home decorator when she’s feeling playful on the couch, she loves to rearrange the pillows to get her setup just right. It’s just one of the many quirky ways she brings joy and laughter to her foster home every day. She’s got the brains of a scholar and the heart of a puppy, making her the ultimate companion for a life lived out loud.
