Story

We all know how we get that awww feeling when we see a sweet young dog that needs our help. Willow is one of these dogs that deserves, due to her excellent temperament and all the love she'll bring to a family, to have a wonderful home filled with pure love and nurturing. Willow is the kind of dog that once comfortable in her environment snuggles in, loves you up and then puts her head on your shoulder breathing her warm breath. She's so sweet and so very loving and irresistible that you can't help falling head over heels in love. Willow is a gorgeous 50 pound, 1 year old Bernese Mountain Dog / Labrador Retriever mix that is just waiting patiently to be the love of a special family's life. Willow's breeds were identified by Texas veterinarians...all we know for certain is that this sweet girl is absolutely irresistible! This pup is SO sweet and once acclimated to her new life, will make a wonderful addition to a dog-loving Colorado family. Willow's foster had the following to say about this sweet girl: Willow is an absolute gem! She’s incredibly sweet, affectionate, and LOVES people—especially our 8 month old son. He loves Willow and Willow loves him..and that's all there is to it She’s been so sweet, gentle and nurturing with him from the start. This girl simply has it all..she couldn't be sweeter or easier to be with. I can trust her in every situation and know that my home and most importantly, my kids and other pets are completely safe with Willow. She's like a second mama in my house, always wanting to take care of all of us and be the very best girl she's capable of being..and that's pretty awesome! Willow has so much love to give. We think she’d be happiest in a home where she can be a true member of a family. I couldn't recommend her more as a family member with gentle kids, a playful and kind spirit and just generally an amazing dog of pure love. She’s truly a special pup! Willow is a perfect size to be able to accompany her family just about everywhere a medium-sized dog is welcome. She will fit right into virtually every situation due to her great temperament and very sweet personality. Our dream for Willow is a forever Colorado home with a family that cherishes her for life. As Willow becomes comfortable in her forever home, she'll blossom and become a fuzzy ball of good-will that loves to please. The happier her family is with her behavior, the more our special girl will shine with her accomplishments. Farfel's would like to see our Willow in a home that includes her in family time and activities (and some couch-time with belly rubs would be absolutely perfect!) as well as taking that extra step to participate in positive reinforcement / force free virtual or in-person obedience classes. These classes successfully teach a smart and cooperative dog like Willow the skills to accompany her family out into the world with excellent behavior. Farfel's Rescue is happy to provide a list of approved virtual and in-person force-free trainers in your area. Willow will be a loving and devoted companion for active retirees who have the time and desire to be best friends with a silly, fun-loving and irresistible dog. She would love to have another gentle and fun dog to play with but it's not mandatory if her people are nurturing and involved. Willow would also do well with a younger family that works from a home-based office. She would bask in the attention and periodic cuddles throughout the day that this life-style brings. Willow's stunning coat (with the most gorgeous Bernese markings ever!) is currently shelter-sad. She will require a lifelong commitment to periodic baths / brushing, excellent 5 star food and a daily salmon oil supplement. This regimen will promote great health as well as a cottony-soft coat that is shining with that excellent health. Willow has been fully vetted, spayed, and is up to date on her vaccinations. This supports Farfel's commitment to adopting out only healthy dogs that won't contribute to the overpopulation challenge in the canine population. Willow will be arriving on transport on Saturday 10/3/2026. Applications are currently being accepted for this sweet and very loving best friend and can be found at http://farfels.com/farfels-res. cue/adoption-form/. If interested, please fill out completely and submit. **PLEASE NOTE** If you're truly interested in adopting Willow please be sure to fill out our Farfel's Rescue adoption application found at the link above or at farfels.com. Adoption site applications such as Petfinder and Adoptapet don't provide enough information and therefore aren't useful. Our Farfel's application is the only initial tool that we have to determine a great match for this very deserving dog. We're sorry, but in most cases, we're unable to get back to those that don't submit our Farfel's Rescue adoption application. Thanks very much for choosing rescue.

Story

MEET SIERRA! Sierra is a 5-year-old, approx. 90-pound Bernese/Anatolian mix girl who came from a family in Montana who were unable to give her the care and attention she needs. She was kept outside too much, but her rescuers have been working with her, integrating her into their foster family with dog walks, belly rubs, brushing sessions and lots of love. Sierra is a working/herding/guard dog but is also a very cuddly teddy bear who loves people and has done well around children. She does have protective/guarding tendencies that seem to have been exacerbated by her situation at her former home. We think she'd do best in a house with a fenced yard, and without other dogs or pets. However, she has also made HUGE progress on her dog walks and will benefit from ongoing training. Sierra loves being brushed, hanging out with her people and getting lots of belly rubs. She is a very sweet girl and would make a great companion for the right person! For more info and/or to apply to adopt Sierra, send us an email at SummitDogRescue@gmail.com, telling us a bit about yourself, your home environment and your lifestyle. A volunteer will get back to you shortly.
