Story
Bippity and Boppity were surrendered together to a local shelter. HART scooped them right up. These two are super nice. They love belly rubs and are open to being touched and held. They LOVE attention! Boppity (the female) is a little more timid than the boy and patiently waits while he gets attention first. She is very pretty and feminine, smaller that him. At 2 years old, they are fully grown. Their foster say she gave them a nice blanket and 2 squeaky toys and they really seem to appreciate everything that they have. They can be adopted separately but Boppity may appreciate another dog in the home as she is always checking in with Bippity. Questions About this Animal? Story
Kosmo #0067 is a 4-month-old Bichon who weighs 8 pounds and is expected to remain small as an adult. He is playful, smart, outgoing, and very people-oriented. Kosmo is working on potty training and does well on a schedule. He knows several commands, including sit, down, off, potty, speak, and crate. He has done well with other dogs and with children he has met. As a young puppy, Kosmo will need continued training and socialization. He will also require regular grooming every 6 to 8 weeks, and adopters should be financially prepared for that ongoing expense. Kosmo is looking for a committed home ready for the time, structure, and care a young puppy needs. How to Adopt: Apply at www.lastchanceanimalrescue.org/adoption-request-form If you have been approved or applied within the last 6 months, your application is already on file. Say hello to Nita, an adorable little Bichon Frise who is ready to find a loving family to call her own…and a lap to claim forever. Nita is an absolute sweetheart who loves snuggles, attention, and being close to her people. She’s the definition of a perfect lap dog and will happily supervise your TV time, work-from-home life, and snack breaks with expert-level cuteness. She also gets along great with other dogs.     Now, Nita does have one important request:  She’s a petite lady who prefers her affection to be respectful and on her terms. Because of this, she’ll do best in a dog savvy home with no small children, as sudden grabbing or being handled when she’s not comfortable can make her a little nippy. (Basically, she’s sweet as sugar… but she’s not a fan of surprise hugs.)      If you’re looking for a gentle, fluffy companion who will adore you endlessly, Nita may be your perfect match. Could she be yours?  Apply today! Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Current Location: Hanover, PA Meet Squash: A Tiny Sweetheart Who Needs Your Patient Love At just 12 pounds and 7 months old, this little Shih Tzu mix is still very much a puppy navigating a big, sometimes overwhelming world. Squash is sweet, gentle, and curious, with a heart full of love for the people he trusts. Once he's comfortable with you, he loves to be held, stay near his person, and show you just how affectionate he can be. Squash has the energy you'd expect from a young puppy. He's extremely energetic and requires frequent activity, mental stimulation, and structured outlets to keep him happy and balanced. He loves to chew on his toys and toy bones, and a fenced yard would be wonderful for letting him run and burn off that puppy energy, though it's not a requirement. Here's what makes Squash special and what he needs: he's a little shy and nervous until he feels comfortable. New sounds, people, and experiences can feel scary to this tiny guy, and he needs a patient family who will support him as he learns that the world isn't meant to be frightening. He's working on meeting new people and can be wary at first, but he's always friendly. He just needs time and gentle encouragement. Squash is great at meeting new dogs and is very responsive to praise and food motivation with those he's comfortable with. Because of his nervousness and the fact that he's still learning about the world, a home without younger kids may be best. We're not sure how he'd react to children sharing his toys or moving unpredictably around him. This sweet boy needs someone who understands that beneath his concerns is a gentle soul who just wants to feel safe and loved. With patience, consistency, and compassion, Squash will blossom into the confident, affectionate companion he's meant to be. If you have the time and heart to help this tiny treasure find his courage, Squash is ready to trust you with his whole heart.

Story
Certified Lap Monsters Warning: Extreme cuteness ahead. These Shih Tzu–Yorkie puppies are tiny balls of fluff with BIG cuddle energy. Soft? ✅ Fluffy? ✅ Totally obsessed with their people? Absolutely. They love following their humans around like little shadows and are happiest when they can plop themselves right into your lap (personal space not included). Whether it’s cuddle time, nap time, or “just because” time, these pups are always ready to snuggle. If you’re looking for a sweet, silly, lap‑loving best friend, congratulations—you just found them. I'm searching for... * someone who won't leave me home alone for more than 4 hrs, at least not until I am older. The older I am the more I can stay home alone. I just don't want you to get mad at me if I have accidents or chew things I'm not supposed to when you leave me for too long. I'm a puppy, so I get bored quick and when I'm bored I could get in trouble. * I am looking for my forever home, not my for right now home. So as I get bigger I need someone to teach me how to be the best dog I can be. I am young and still learning. You may want to teach me some new tricks like sit, stay, etc. Professional training will help me bond with you. That sounds like fun! * I saved the most important for last. I am hoping my new mom or dad will snuggle with me, play with me and love me forever and ever! Current location: Wrightsville, PA Available to go home on 2/1/26
