TOBY – INTELLIGENT, HANDSOME, AND READY TO GROW WITH YOU Available for Adoption in Illinois Applying for the job as your heart dog, please and thank you!Occupation: Strategic thinker with a flair for dramaHobby: Shadowing your every move, scouting snacks like a proVibe: James Bond meets Rookie of the Year Hi. Toby here. Ten months old. Sixty pounds. Blue eyes that tend to get me out of trouble. Sometimes. Let’s get something straight. I am not just a pretty face with zoomies. I am housebroken. Solid. I know where to go and where not to. I’m nicely trained. I understand boundaries. You set the rule, I respect it. I like knowing the expectations. Makes life easier for both of us. I’m e-collar trained and I have great recall. Call me and I come. Not a slow “let me think about it.” I come. If you have a fenced backyard, amazing. I will treat it like my personal playground. If you don’t, I can still do well because I listen. Now about the fun part. I’ve got puppy energy. Real deal energy. I love to run, wrestle, chase, and play. Another playful dog would be a dream. I’m great with dogs. Great with kids too. Just slightly older kids are best because I’m enthusiastic and occasionally forget I’m not pocket sized. People call me a character. I make expressions. I tilt my head when you talk. I follow you around because I like being part of your world. If you move, I’m curious. If you sit, I’m nearby. I’m loyal like that. I started life on a euthanasia list with my siblings. That was almost my whole story. Instead, I got a second chance. I grew up. I learned manners. I turned into a really good dog. Now I just need my person. I’m playful. I’m trained. I’m smart. I’m handsome. I’m ready. Come meet me. Bring a ball. Let’s see what happens. ##2484161##

Story
Whiskey and both are two year old brothers. They have always been together. These dogs are super sweet and lovable. My husband and I got them from another family nearby a month ago. I am usually always home and available to spend time with them but, the day after we got them my 87 year old mother had a heart attack and went into the hospital. She was in the hospital for 22 days and is now in a skilled nursing facility. I have been at the hospital and now the nursing facility every day. My mom had a very hard time and it was crucial for her to have family around her while she healed. She will be coming home this coming week. Then, two weeks ago I was diagnosed with cancer. I am having surgery at the end of this month. My life has completely changed in the past month. Whiskey and Bolt are very smart, happy dogs but need someone who has the time to spend with them. They are trained to sit, and wait to eat. I am hopeful that there’s a family out there that would like to take both of them.

Story
Cherie is a fun, spunky, smiley girl! She is ready for whatever adventure or challenge, and would thrive in a home that kept her training constant or provided regular mental stimulation. :) She is a very smart dog, and has a bursting personality when she gets to know you. She can be a little shy with strangers initially, but the most practice she gets, the better she gets. She is currently working on her social skills with other dogs and small humans, as she isn't the most comfortable and doesn't really know what to do with them. Overall, Cherie may benefit most from a home with adults, and adults and older/teenage children. We feel with proper introduction, she will do well with other dogs as well. :)

Story
Romeo is an incredibly sweet, snuggly, and loving little guy - truly a wonderful dog, who we highly suspect is a small Australian Cattle Dog mix, possibly with Jack Russell Terrier (based on 2 other dogs found with him that we suspect are brothers to his twin, Romeo). He has been good with young children (3-6), done well with the other dogs he's met, and enjoys talking to and trying to play with 4 outdoor rescue kitties he can interact with through a fence line, so we think he will do quite well with a resident cat. He is INCREDIBLY sweet and loves snuggles, and just melts into your arms. He picks up training easily and joyfully. Based on his wonderful personality, he would do well in a variety of homes/situations, including families with kids, older adults or families, or as a therapy/emotional support dog or possibly service dog with the proper training. He is one of 4 boys abandoned together in a very rural neighbor's backyard and never claimed (it seems they were from a backyard breeding project, as other similar dogs were also found by others in the general area and owners never found). The finder was unable to keep them, as he had his own dogs and all 4 *can* climb chain link/welded wire. He and his assumed to be brothers (Rusty, Russell, and Rascal, the TerrieRs) then had a foster offer in Washington, where they were neutered and finished their vetting. Romeo is incredibly sweet and mildly shy/sensitive (he gives you looks like, "Am I doing this right? Am I a good boy?"), and loves to snuggle. He jumps with joy when you walk up to him, and just has the perfect mix of sweetness and playfulness - he could do well in a variety of home settings. He is crate trained, and has done well in a home with close supervision and interaction, but has not been left to free-roam the house unsupervised (between being 4 intact male dogs, and then crate rest after neuter), but we think he'd be very well-behaved. He has had no crate accidents, and let's people know when he would like to go out/go potty. Because he can climb chain link and welded wire, his main consideration is an adoptive home where he cannot climb out if momentarily bored or lonely, so preferred homes will have wood or vinyl fencing - he would also do well in an apartment setting or similar, where his time outside is supervised or leashed. Romeo will be transported to CA for adoption around the middle of October 💓
