Story
Looks like: Border Collie mix Male, 10 years old (estimated), 50 pounds Meet Bernadus, a finely aged gentleman with plenty of sparkle left in the bottle. Bernadus has all the best qualities of a good vintage: balanced, lively, and impossible not to love. Don't let his age fool you! This handsome lad still has plenty of pep in his step and would happily join you for hikes, walks, play sessions, or any adventure that keeps him part of the action! Bernadus is incredibly sweet, social, and wonderful with other dogs. He's the kind of pup who brings easy joy wherever he goes -- playful without being chaotic, affectionate without being clingy. He'd thrive with an active family who appreciates a dog that still loves to get out and explore, then settle in afterwards for some well-earned relaxation. This sweet boy joined us from Santa Cruz County Animal Services after he was found as a stray. They felt he would do best in a senior focused rescue to find that perfect home to call his own.

Story
Meet Tomas. The 6 year old black and white border collie! Despite no longer being a puppy, this handsome boy still has the energy to compete with one! He loves playing with a soccer ball, and here at the shelter he loves to dig in the sand box and play fetch in the yard. In his previous home he was mostly outdoors, but to keep him safe and healthy we recommend he be inside with his new family and let outside for play time! Tomas has been very friendly and sociable here at the shelter, both with people and dogs. Because he is a high energy dog, he may not get along with every dog, so a slow and thoughtful introduction with any resident pups is highly recommended. He will need plenty of mental and physical stimulation to keep him happy and burn off his energy in his fur-ever home. If you are looking for a friendly and energetic companion to play with you, come by and meet Tomas today!Tomas’s adoption fee has been sponsored by a good Samaritan. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Weight ~45 lbsThis is Angus: young, handsome, kind of full of himself. Being a working dog, he`ll need an active adopter willing to work his brain as well as his fluffy body. And being young, he`ll benefit from good training. Agility, scent training, and other canine sports are all great options for him. He enjoys other dogs and is good on his leash. Come and meet Angus Tue-Sun 11-5.

Story
Dex came into our lives from the shelter in 2023. They estimated he was 6 months - 1 year old. He was rounded up on a farm with several of his siblings. Dex has been a great dog and is full of energy. Dex is great with kids and loves attention. We are looking to rehome him to a family that is more active and will give him the attention he needs. Dex’s good habits: Crate trained(can include if requested, no charge) Won’t pee or poop in house Very social Some of Dex issues: Will dig and destroy plastic toys but likely stems from boredom Being a herder breed, he has nipped several family members ankles. (Never the kids, seems to be mostly adult males.) Something he has done less of as he has gotten older and can probably be trained out of him. I believe Dex would be great for a single person or a family with either no children or children that are grown up. We would love to have Dex back if the fit is not right.

Story
Completely FREE rehoming. 2 Male Border Collie and Bernesse Doodle Mix. Must be adopted SEPARATELY! Fights with each other. Very sweet but very energetic. Born September 24, 2024 Morgan Hill Area but willing to meet for drop offs. My daughter left her with us when she left the country. However due to unforseen circumstances she is living there permanently now. We have two dogs of our own already and aren’t able to provide the proper space and care for all four dogs. Have already kept them with us for a year but cannot keep this up for any longer. He is Samuel as much as I wanted to keep him I can’t divide my time with my two other dogs.

Story
Meet Gumigoo (Gumi, Gumibear, ) Currently in Buxton, ME Gumigoo — also known as Gumi, Gumibear, or Gumbo — is a handsome young Border Collie with the perfect mix of athletic ability and affection. Border Collie Mix - Weight: 33 lbs- Neutered - 2.5 years old Health: Up to date on vaccinations • Heartworm negative • On monthly prevention Personality: Gumi is a true cuddle dog He loves to snuggle, nap with his people, and will happily sleep on your bed or in your lap if allowed. At the same time, he respects personal space when asked. He gets along very well with his foster’s female Aussie and would likely do well with other dogs after a proper introduction. He has not been tested with cats. He has excellent house manners, is fully house-trained, and is trustworthy in the home. Training & Intelligence: Gumi is very smart and eager to learn He already knows several commands: • Sit • Wait • Leave it • Place (very reliable) • Recall (“come”) is still a work in progress He is highly food-motivated, which makes training productive and fun. Activity & Play: Gumi loves to run, play, and chase toys He enjoys fetch and would likely excel in agility or other dog sports. A large, secure fenced yard is strongly recommended. He has a strong prey drive and is highly alert to movement. He will bark at chickens, bicyclists, delivery trucks, and machinery. Fence-running can occur once he becomes stimulated and can be hard to interrupt. A quiet home on a low-traffic or dead-end road would suit him best. Crate & Travel: Gumi is crate-trained but does not require one at home. He travels best when contained in a covered crate with music playing Because he reacts to outside activity, window coverings or film can help reduce barking triggers. Additional Notes: • Early riser (typically 5:30–6:00 AM) • Generally friendly with people, but not perfect with everyone • Caution recommended with young children • May jump during greetings; consistent cues like “sit” or “place” help • Nervous at the vet and may need sedation or pre-visit anti-anxiety meds Ideal Home: Gumi would thrive with: An active, experienced owner A large fenced yard A quiet environment with minimal outside stimulation Consistent training and structure Adults or families with older children Gumi is an affectionate, intelligent companion who will shine in the right home — one that appreciates both his loving nature and his working-dog instincts. If you think Gumigoo is the a perfect fit for you and your family please submit our adoption application at the link below. https://www.australianshepherdsfurever.org/adoption-application There are some additional fees: $20 microchip transfer fee to register and transfer him to his new furever family. ##2560186##
