Story
Meet Star, the black and white border collie. Star arrived to the Shelter as a stray so we don’t know much about her life before now. She has undergone a glow up in the past week of her arrival. She came in very unsure and cautious but five days later, a staff members report: “She really has come out of her shell. Very happy in the yard, gallops around and jumps on me!” Star would thrive with an adopter who will be patient with her as she transitions to her new people and space. Star seems to thrive when around other dogs and finds them comforting. A home with a canine companion who will engage in play will likely be a fit for this wall flower. Any resident dogs should meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. We do not have any history of Star with cats or children. Potential adopters are encouraged to do breed research prior to adoption to ensure that they have the resources to meet Star’s day to day physical and mental enrichment needs. Star is available for pre-adoption. Come meet her, fall in love and take her home after her spay surgery. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Completely FREE rehoming. 2 Male Border Collie and Bernesse Doodle Mix. Must be adopted SEPARATELY! Fights with each other. Very sweet but very energetic. Born September 24, 2024 Morgan Hill Area but willing to meet for drop offs. My daughter left her with us when she left the country. However due to unforseen circumstances she is living there permanently now. We have two dogs of our own already and aren’t able to provide the proper space and care for all four dogs. Have already kept them with us for a year but cannot keep this up for any longer. I hope he can find someone loving and have time. He’s very sweet dog, i just can’t keep the four of them. I have my own 2 dogs.
