Story
Meet Juno, the herding breed puppy! Juno is 5 months old and has strong herding breed traits. She would thrive in a home with herding breed savvy folks that can help to channel her enthusiasm and zest. Juno enjoys the company of large breed dogs but is not a fit for a home with small sized dogs, cats, or small animals (rabbits, guinea pigs, etc). Adopters with herding breed experience would be a great fit. In Juno’s previous home, she lived with an 8 year old child (who she loved), teens, men and women. She is still perfecting leash walking and crate training so adopters should be patient in the transition to the home. Her favorite activities are walks, running and chasing toys. Juno may thrive in a working dog set up, with proper acclimation and training. The Santa Cruz County Animal Shelter Foundation is now offering “Pawsitivity Bucks” with every dog adoption. This $200 training voucher is a way for newly adopted canines and their guardians to connect with local positive reinforcement based behavior consultants and get their relationship started off on the right paw! Please note: Our Santa Cruz location’s Shelter hours are 11-6pm, 7 days a week! Although clients can walk through and see any animals in their kennels during open hours, we end “meet and greets” (aka meeting an animal out of the kennel) at 4:30pm every day. If you’d like to meet an animal out of the kennel, please arrive before 4:00pm to allow for time to discuss individual animals and meet them.

Story
Chopper is a little over 2 years old, birthdate on 1/9/2024. We were given by someone when he was 6 months old. We are looking for experienced pet owners to take him in. He has anxiety issues and resource guards his owners. He has bitten someone once and is not friendly to others due to anxiety. He gets alone with our other dog in the house but no strangers. He is very affectionate and friendly to his owners. He loves to get pets and scratches. He is food motivated and likes to cuddle.

Story
Dillon was 1.5yrs young when we adopted him from Milpitas Humane Society in 2019. He had an ear infection being treated at the time. Recently it came back. Besides that he is happy and healthy. We live with 3 children (2 teens and a toddler) and Dillon is very gently with them and is always excited to see them coming home from school. Unfortunately we are relocating and downsizing and overall don’t have time and can not afford taking him to the vet for his ear infection due to one of our children going under heart surgery which is putting us in a difficult time financially. New home we are planning to move in does not allow “large” dogs. I am very heartbroken writing this post but I am hoping to find my Dillon a good home that has the time for him.
