Story
This is a courtesy posting. LEONARDO (LEO) is in foster care in Delano.  We would need to find a local foster or adopter to bring him into rescue. This boy has had a rough life so far, and it would be wonderful to find him a loving home.  Here's his bio: LEONARDO is about 2 yrs. old and 38lbs.  He was found astray with a badly broken leg.  On top of that, while at the vets they found he has a bullet embedded in him (!) and an old hip injury.  Clearly this boy has had a rough life :(  The good news:  his broken leg has healed while in foster care and the other old injuries do not seem to cause him any trouble/pain.  He has been a very sweet boy with people as well as at the vets. Let us know ASAP if you could give LEO a loving forever home. Leo is neutered, microchipped and up to date on his vaccinations.application, home visit, adoption feeMarch 12, 2024, 5:29 pm

Story
Meet Tony! Tony is a big, handsome mixed breed.. our guess is Australian Shepherd, husky and who knows what else! Tony was previously an outdoor only dog who was surrendered due to his previous guardians being unable to continue caring for him. Despite the rather dramatic change of environment, Tony has been learning that the world is not so scary. After a few days of acclimation to the Shelter, he has been letting loose – frolicking off leash and chasing toys. Staff report that he comes galloping over when called and enjoys being pet. This resilient guy is looking for an adopter that will guide him towards success in his next home. Although Tony previously was outdoors, he is very people focused and would love to be someone’s companion dog. He has met dogs at the Shelter and demonstrated some interest in playing. A home with a well rounded pup may be a fit provided they meet at the Shelter prior to adoption. Bonding through positive reinforcement based training would be a great way for adopters to help Tony learn things like house training and walking on leash. We do not have any history of Tony with cats. A dog-savvy cat paired with a thoughtful, slow introduction may be a fit.

Story
Meet Rumble. This mixed breed softy came into the Shelter after his previous guardian could no longer care for him. He is a mixed breed who lived in a property with other pups. Rumble was primarily outdoors in his previous home so his guardians will need to be patient in the transition to indoor living. Things such as potty training and walking on leash may take a bit of time for Rumble to pick up. With patience, management, and positive reinforcement based training, we anticipate that Rumble will pick things up quickly. Rumble has been around children in his previous home. A home with kids is likely a fit. We do not have any history of Rumble living with cats or small animals.

WEIGHT: ~52lbs.Meet Blue- Alright, we'll just say it, this is a great dog. Blue came to us from a partner shelter where she was removed from a less than desirable situation, but you wouldn't know it. Blue is sweet and gentle and an all-around easy-going gal. You can tell just by looking at her that she was bred to be a working dog, so potential adopters should study up on the unique needs of these next level creatures. Blue will need an adopter who is prepared to provide her with both physical and mental enrichment so as to keep her dog-with-job impulses in check in a healthy and productive way! Blue has met other dogs here at the shelter, and while she has been known to come in a little hot, she is quite respectful of the boundaries of others and will take a correction well. We are unsure how she would be with cats. Think that you have what it takes to give this little Cattle Dog mix the best life ever? If so, call our adoptions desk or feel free to stop by the shelter during Browsing Hours: Wed-Sun 11-5.
