Story
Frankie is a sweet puppy boy who is a foster favorite. He's everything you want in a dog: goofy, loving, playful, sweet, and cuddly! We think he's a border collie/bully breed mix, but whatever his mix is, it makes him perfect! A smart little guy, Frankie keeps his crate clean and does really well in the house. He loves chasing balls and wrestling with other dogs. This sweet puppy's greatest trait is that he loves his people. While his littermates take off when they come out of the crate, he immediately stays behind to give kisses and be petted. There's a heart dog in every litter, and Frankie is that dog. Frankie was born in December 2025 and found on a dirt road in January. He's fully vetted and ready to be your best snuggle buddy. Story
Meet Dixie! 🖤🤍 Dixie is a 1.5-year-old Border Collie/Heeler mix with the cutest perky ears, soulful eyes, and an expression that somehow manages to be both serious and ridiculously endearing at the same time. She has a unique look that makes you stop and stare—and then instantly smile. Dixie has rickets, but it truly doesn’t slow her down or dampen her joyful spirit one bit. She’s a happy, playful girl who loves to bounce around, soak up attention, and be part of whatever’s going on. Her personality is bright, loving, and full of charm. She’s incredibly friendly and adores everyone she meets, including kids, cats, and other dogs. Dixie is smart, eager to please, and already crate trained and housebroken, making her an easy and wonderful addition to a home. Dixie is spayed, fully vaccinated, and ready to find a forever family who will love her just as she is—unique, joyful, and absolutely adorable. 💕

Story
Meet Sheesh, a one-year-old pup whose unique personality perplexed her foster mom until she received the breed results — border collie and Labrador retriever!  Sheesh’s hobbies are all lab. She loves playing fetch and brings the ball back consistently.  Sheesh also loves water and will go towards any source of water, whether it’s coming from a sprinkler in the neighborhood or running in a creek. She loves being outside in the rain and isn’t afraid of getting all wet. She’s so calm and easy during baths that her foster mom still bathes her in the kitchen sink even though she’s much too big for it now at 45 lbs full grown.  The border collie in Sheesh is also very apparent in how intelligent and obedient she is. Sheesh follows instructions without the need for a treat. She’ll come when you call her name and go to her crate when told to. She’s very smart and learns new skills quickly. She also has some herding tendencies and can get very focused on things like a squirrel in the yard. She’s of course energetic, but does take plenty of naps throughout the day.  Sheesh will do best in an active home with owners who want to take her on long morning walks. Sheesh loves her walks, but she can get a little too excited by other excitable dogs she encounters. She will need someone willing to work with her on this, possibly with a trainer’s help. Sheesh is very redirectable and responsive if the person walking her knows what to do.  Sheesh has been in her foster home since July 2024 and is fully potty trained, crate trained and has zero separation anxiety. She’s super friendly, happy and loving, and is friends with all the dogs in her foster home. There’s not a mean bone in her body. She even shows remarkable patience with small puppies, letting them climb all over her and chew on her beautiful, fluffy tail. Although she’s not perfect, Sheesh is a special young dog who will bring great joy to her forever family.”

🏆Major🏆 This handsome boy is Major, he is the best boy and the life of the party! 🎉 Major is around two years old and is a most likely a border collie / lab mix (a Borador). Major is very smart and is already house trained. He is great with other dogs and loves everyone he meets. 😊 Major needs room to play and he is looking for a big fenced in yard to run off his energy and play endless games of fetch. He would make the perfect family dog or bestie for an active compile. If you are interested in learning more about Major, please submit an adoption application. This guy checks all the boxes for being the best boy and can’t wait to meet his forever family. ❤️ If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/forms PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN RHODE ISLAND AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED. Story
Poncho is one happy dog! He loves to smile and show off those cute teefs. Poncho was picked up as a puppy in the fall of 2024. His siblings were picked up several weeks before, but he would not come to people until his mom was hit by a car. He absolutely adores people now!! He's so good with kids. Poncho is great with other dogs, takes treats gently, is house trained, and LOVES to be outside! He really loves swimming amd romping in the pond. Poncho may have some border collie in him because he loves to run cows. He will need a fenced-in yard because he will chase cars. Poncho is medium size and at 18 months old as of December 2025, he shouldn't get much bigger. He's fully vetted and ready to hang out with you! Story
Meet Guero! Guero is a friendly and energetic young dog ready to find a home of his very own. Guero thrives on a healthy mix of affection, walks, and play to keep him happy and fulfilled. He's only a year old and seems to think himself a forever puppy - bouncy, happy, and endlessly adorable! He is still working on his basic manners and can be jumpy and pushy at times, he would love a home with a family patient and willing to teach him how to be the sweet and polite gentleman we know he is at heart. Guero loves other dogs, he thinks every dog he sees just might be his new best friend and he always fits into the roll of annoying, but charming, little brother. Guero would thrive best in a teens+ home with another playful canine companion. He has lived with cats before and may do well in a home with resident cats after a slow introduction to ensure the safety and comfort of all animals involved. Guero is currently in foster care, if you are interested in him please complete an adopter's profile at parl.org and email foster@parl.org to learn more and schedule an appointment!

Story
Sully from our “Monster's Inc.” litter may look like a big, fluffy “scarer,” but don’t let that fool you, this sweet boy is all heart. He is 7 months old and is an Australian Shepherd mixed breed. Sully is still young and while he can be a little shy at first, it doesn’t take long for his gentle, affectionate side to shine through. Once he feels safe, he leans in for love and will happily stick by your side like your own personal (very handsome) shadow. Sully would thrive in a home that understands he just needs a little time to settle in. He’s been through more than most puppies his age (he was found after being dumped in the middle of nowhere, he and his siblings bravely made their way to safety). Because of this, he would do best in a home with kids 12+ and would absolutely benefit from having another dog around to help build his confidence. With a little patience, Sully is going to grow into the most loyal, loving companion.
