This friend has just arrived because their owner could no longer keep them. While owners can provide some history on their pets, our medical and behavioral teams will still evaluate them. They are pending interactions with other animals at the shelter until they have been cleared by our vet. Our staff will spend some time getting to know them and we will update their bio with more information as we learn. Benji was a rescue pup from an Ohio kill-shelter, who made his way to Delaware. He was fostered very young with his liter, he got adopted when he was 3 months & is now a 9 month boy! Unfortunately he has been separated by his owner & is looking for a long term companion to share his cuddles with! He is house trained & loves the be outside! Herding & Working dog instincts Benji is always on the hunt for something fun to do. He loves to go on runs & play; is good with strangers & kids. Is timid with dogs/cats but is friendly! He would love a forever home where he can continue to have endless enrichment, play time & close attention. ABOUT BABY GIRL Baby Girl is a happy-go-lucky 2-year-old Border Collie mix with a big personality and an even bigger love for life! This goofy girl came to HAP from a high-intake shelter in Louisiana when they ran out of space to care for her. Despite all the changes she's experienced, Baby Girl hasn't let anything dampen her spirits. She's full of energy, always ready for an adventure, and just happy to make new friends! Social as can be, Baby Girl loves people and other dogs alike! She's an affectionate, playful pup who enjoys running around the field, chasing tennis balls, and soaking up attention from her human friends. Sometimes her excitement gets the best of her, and she may jump up to greet you, but she's just eager to say hello! Baby Girl has also done well making canine friends during her time with us. How can you resist those sweet puppy eyes and cute face!!! ENZO FERRARI is an 8 month old Border Collie / Hound / Lab mix (1% Lab lol). He is a sweet and happy boy who grew up in the shelter when his mom and litter of 6 were dropped off in February. He is now in a foster home and has learned manners and commands very quickly and is always eager to please. Here is the latest update on Enzo: Enzo has been in his foster home for about 2 months and is now fully acclimated to life in a busy household. He is 100% potty trained and easily goes into his crate for naps and bedtime. Enzo has a very sweet nature and gets along with everyone he meets. He loves to meet and play with other dogs and his favorite thing is to snuggle with his foster family. Enzo likes to be right by your side and ready for any activity. Enzo is very good with basic commands like sit, stay, down, and come and he learns very quickly. He has good manners and does not beg for food or jump on the couch. He also knows to sit nicely prior to being fed and is not aggressive with his food. Enzo walks well on a leash and loves walks and hikes and is starting to go onshort runs. He will fetch a ball and bring it back most of the time (still work in progress). Enzo seems to have inherited Labrador qualities and enjoys cooling off in the water and already knows how to swim! Enzo is also great in the car. He jumps in the backseat sits patiently until he is told it is time to get out. Enzo would love to be part of an active family and has lots of love to give, he is truly a sweet natured dog and will be a wonderful companion! We do ask that Adopters of puppies under 12 months of age attend a basic obedience class with them. We find that this results in a more confident, settled pup and reduces returns down the road. We can recommend a group class with a positive reinforcement trainer. Enzo has been neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and is on heartworm/flee/tick prevention. Adoption $350. He knows sit, come, leave it and can catch. He definitely gets the zoomies, but he is playful, sweet and good natured. He plays with our older dog well. He is good with our kids. He needs more yard space than we can give. He goes to dog parks and doggie day care often and is well liked. He is loves to chew, and loves the Bark Box super chewer toys. Paris is a highly energetic blue healer/Australian cattle dog and is very intelligent. She’s 6 months old and has picked up quickly on commands like sit, lay down, and stay. However, she still has a long way to go with her training. She really needs a home where she has room to run around in a fenced in yard and gets plenty of exercise. Unfortunately, due to a new job, my schedule has become such that I cannot provide her with the time and attention she requires. She has the potential to be such a wonderful girl in the right environment. We adopted her when she was around 2-3 months old and paid $400 and she is completely up to date on all vaccines etc. She’s not old enough yet to get spayed. Somewhat house trained and kennel trained…work in progress. She really deserves a home where she can run freely in a large, fenced in yard ideally.
