Meet Gemma Beautiful Gemma is a wonderful young dog. We rescued Gemma from a high-kill shelter and we are so can't believe that she has been with us since 2021. She is amazing. Gemma is now over eight years old and did not and does not deserve to live out her life in a shelter. She is thought to be a McNab Shepherd, possibly mixed with lab. Whatever her breeds, we think she is simply FANTASTIC! This young sweetie LOVES being around people. She is affectionate and friendly and has been from the minute we met her. Gemma is very smart, travels well, and enjoys adventures. She likes certain other dogs, but can be somewhat particular about dogs so will need to be tested with any potential adopter's dogs. Gemma has a lot of energy and will do best with an active family or person, who can give her a lot of attention. She is very smart and is happiest when she is engaged in activities. Even though it'll be important to exercise her and give her plenty of things to do, she can be very calm and focused, especially if there is a treat involved. Her intelligence and demeanor should help make training her pretty easy. She is quick with doggie kisses and happy tail wags. She walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and appears to be house trained. Gemma is a people-pleaser, happy go-lucky, wind-at-the-back kind of girl. A long way to say, Gemma is a gem of a dog. The family or person lucky enough to adopt this beauty, will be richly rewarded with a great companion. He ended up living outside, waiting for someone to figure out what would happen to him. Eventually, his situation became urgent and a kind person stepped forward to make sure Ash didn’t get left behind. That’s when Paws of the South Rescue took responsibility for him and promised him something he desperately needed — another chance. And Ash hasn’t let his past change who he is. Ash is a 5-year-old Border Collie weighing about 45 pounds, and he is one of those dogs who genuinely seems happiest just being close to someone. He loves human touch, seeks out affection, and wants very much to please. Give him attention and you’ll quickly see just how much being with people means to him. He’s also good with other dogs and has a wonderfully sweet, friendly nature. More than anything, Ash seems ready to trade his days of living outside for the things he has been missing — a soft place to sleep, someone to follow from room to room, rides in the car, walks together, and a person who won’t disappear from his life. The rescue has gotten Ash started on his veterinary care and vaccinations, and his neuter is being arranged. At five years old, Ash isn’t asking anyone to raise a puppy. He’s already a grown dog with a beautiful personality who simply needs the next chapter of his life to be the one that lasts. Ash lost his person once. Then he lost his home.
