Story
Sabrina is an amazing dog who just needs someone willing to work with her. She is amazing with children (just needs work on being too excited around small children but has gotten much better with our fosters 2 year old)  She is most definitely mixed with a working breed - she needs consistent exercise to be a calm house dog and will become destructive if her mind isn’t stimulated. She absolutely loves sniff walks and fetch to wear her out and work her brain.  She will need a more involved owner who understands her needs. She has a lot of allergies and our vet believes her skin issues may just be a chronic life long struggle. She is taking 1/2 an apoquel a day and her foster supplements with calming treats and allergy/immune boost treats daily. We have not done an elimination diet to determine exact allergies, but she is currently eating Rachel Ray Limited Ingredient (Just 6 depending on bag design/store) Lamb flavor and has been doing better!  She still has bald spots and flare ups if the weather is bad or she gets stressed out. We’re working on determining when it happens to try and eliminate the flare ups so her hair can grow back fully. Currently all 4 shoulders have some degree of baldness and occasional bumps from her chewing, but I’ve been keeping sweaters on her and the calming treats to try and get her to leave the area alone long enough for the hair to grow back.  She’s got some unique quirks that make her even more special! She is  described as being cat like - she absolutely loves to be up high looking over everything. When outside, she can be found hopping onto the patio table to look in windows or take a nap. She’s also been caught napping on top of book shelves or any surface big enough to hold her body and she’ll curl up like she’s meant to be there!   She has no fear when it comes to humans, but can be skittish in the house when it comes to switching rooms or entering/exiting like she’s unsure what will come from the other room. She does alright with other dogs in neutral territory, but does resource guard her food, kennel, and occasionally the fosters sun room if she can see the other dogs filtering in and out while she’s hanging out in there. However, she responds incredibly well to correction and is eager to please! With or without treats, she loves to practice new skills and is working incredibly hard to be calm in the house! She still has trouble channeling her energy some days if she hasn’t had enough stimulation, but you can see how hard she tries to maintain composure during training sessions!  She’s a work in progress, but her personality and temperament are perfect for someone looking for a loyal dog that’s willing to do anything from cuddle on the couch to adventure with them!   https://www.pupandcatco.com/Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.We do not have a shelter facility and our pets are housed in foster homes, vet clinics and local boarding facilities. Many of our adoptable pets attend adoption events each Saturday at Mall of Georgia Petsmart in Buford, Georgia from 11:30-3:00 pm Please check with us to find out if a particular pet will be available. Dogs going to adoption event are typically posted on our Facebook page the day prior. Details about our adoption procedures can be seen at www.pupandcatco.com. May 25, 2024, 12:07 pm

Story
Yen is a lovable and independent large puppy. At 14 weeks and 22 pounds he will be a large dog over 60 pounds as an adult. He will need a fenced yard to explore and play and nap in the sun. He has a very easy going personality and is happy to have various dog beds to nap and toys to chew. Yen enjoys watching sports on tv or napping in one’s lap while watching a movie. Yen is a super smart boy that will be easy to train and has great mellow energy for a puppy. Yen is crate trained and is almost potty trained. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Puppies - We do not adopt puppies under 16 weeks to out of state adopters. This is due to our spay/neuter policy, and all dogs must be spayed/neutered before leaving Georgia state lines. We do not adopt siblings to the same household. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Meet Badger a 10-month-old, white and black, male, Border Collie mix, weighing approximately 40 pounds. Badger loves to meet new people. He has shown his affection to everyone here at the Humane Society from his first day. He also loves to go swimming! A wonderful volunteer Candace took him out on her Pooch Pontoon to an island on Lake Lanier and he loved his swim time. He is a friend to dogs and plays very well with his pal here at the shelter, Mr. Bean. He also likes to give great big bear hugs! But very gently. If you're interested in Badger please fill out an application online or call the Humane Society at 770-887-6480. Our adoption hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11-5 and Friday and Saturday 1-5. Badger says come by and say hi!

Story
New Arrival! Taking applictions at this time. Meet Peter, an adorable 8-month-old male Border Collie mix, boasting a charming white and black coat and weighing approximately 46 pounds. With boundless energy and a sweet disposition, he's the perfect companion for outdoor adventures and playtime in the park. While he could use some guidance with leash manners, Peter's food motivation makes training less difficult. His enthusiastic nature extends to mealtime, but he'll benefit from a slow feeder bowl to savor his food. Peter is not only energetic but also social, getting along with other dogs. If you're interested in Peter please fill out an application online or call the Humane Society at 770-887-6480. Our adoption hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11-5 and Friday and Saturday 1-5. Peter says come by and meet me!

Story
Hello all potential adopters! I would like you to meet an extremely beautiful and very smart girl named Ziggie Zelda - a Border Collie mix. She is approximately 5 years old and weighs 35 pounds. Ziggie is the perfect medium sized dog for outdoor fun! Her fur is tri colored (mostly black and white with tan “accents”) and luxuriously soft.    Ziggie enjoys the company of other dogs and appears to be ok with cats too! When meeting new humans (adults and children), it takes her a little time to feel comfortable. It also should be mentioned that Ziggie does have anxiety, so exercise is important. A fenced in yard works out well for that purpose and for playing fetch! This lovely girl is fine being left alone for short periods of time, but will bark loudly for awhile initially. So, apartments/condos are not the best fit. Her foster mommy recommends that her new family is home most of the time.   Leash walking is not a problem for this gal. She walks very nicely on a leash. Ziggie is also crate trained. She is currently working hard on her potty training and is almost there.   If you think this amazing and intelligent girl would be a good fit for your family, please fill out an application and Ziggie’s foster mommy will get back to you asap! An Adoption Application for this dog can be found and submitted online. http://www.angelsrescue.org/adopt/adoption-forms  Please be sure to like our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/angelsrescue.  Email inquiry@angelsrescue.org  Note: Some apartments and neighborhoods have breed restrictions. We verify rental policies and adhere to any regulations. Please ensure you understand those restrictions before choosing a dog.          May 25, 2024, 11:09 pm
