Story
Panda is a Border Collie boy puppy. He is 6 months old and has all of his shots. Panda doesn't have purebred paperwork, but comes from working dog border collie parents with short hair. Both the parents have good working instincts, and Josie (the mother) is excellent at working cows and sheep. Both his mom and dad are black and white, like he is. Panda is very playful and would make a great pet for an active household. He is lovable and goofy and plays well with his littermates and loves people. We would prefer that potential owners come by and interact with him first and then take him home. However, we are also willing to deliver in Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, and Missouri for a delivery fee.

Story
Jackson is a delightful 1-and-a-half-year-old border collie mix, boasting a black and white coat and weighing around 56 pounds. Despite his youthful energy, Jackson possesses a quiet, endearingly shy nature, adding to his irresistible appeal. Jackson thrives on love and attention whether he is romping in his kiddie pool or curling up for cuddles. Jackson is high-energy and would do well with an active family. He can be dog selective and would need a proper introduction; he has shown some resource guarding with toys. He does walk well on a leash. He would do better with older children as he is a herding dog and may be too much for a small child. If you're interested in adopting Jackson please fill out an application online or call the Humane Society of Forsyth County at 770-887-6480. Adoption hours are Tuesday through Thursday 11-5 or Friday and Saturday 1-5. Jackson says come and meet me!

Story
Hi, everyone - meet Ravello, a one year old short haired border collie mix. Ravi came to Hero in early August, and sadly had not been very well taken care of. He was underfed and at least 15-18 pounds underweight. He had heartworms and needed treatment. He was scared of almost everything and everybody, and needed to learn to trust again. And he needed love and a family to bond with most of all. Flash forward about 2 weeks, and his light has already started to shine. He's gained over 10 of those needed pounds back, and is eating like a piglet to keep on gaining. He's a week into his thirty day heartworm regimen, and on his way to recovery (he loves to take his medicine wrapped in cheese). He is coming out of his shell with his foster family, and has started to love all the affection, "sweethearts" and "good boys" he gets. He was skittish about affection at first, but is realizing now that pets, scratches, and belly rubs are a good thing and seeks it out. We are seeing more glimpses every day of the loving, playful, funny, smart, incredible dog that's inside, as the shy, scared, skinny stray slowly disappears. He seems to particularly love the ladies - we suspect a guy maybe hadn't been very nice to him - but is warming quickly to everyone he meets. Amazingly, he is very well mannered already, especially for such a young adult from a less than ideal background. He is fully house trained and has had zero accidents in his foster home. He is great in his crate, and sleeps through the night without a peep. He will even let himself into the crate with the door open just to chill when he needs to! He loves to just relax near his people. We don't think he's ever played with toys before, but is starting to learn to chew on bones. He's not very good on a leash, but he's a quick learner and is already getting better at walking beside us and pulling less (sometimes). He's not much of a barker so far, and gets excited when it's time for good things - meals, putting on his leash to go outside, and when he's ready for pets and hugs, which is getting to be more and more frequent. Above all, what we can see already is what a loving, gentle and amazing dog this is. He loves all people, other dogs, cats and every living thing he's encountered so far (full disclosure, he did briefly chase a lizard a few minutes ago, but the lizard safely got away). In crowded settings like at the park, he's curious and comfortable with people, including young kids coming up to say hello and show him some love. He's a pretty special guy, and just needs a forever family who wants to bring him into their home and give him the love and support he needs to continue rebuilding his confidence and becoming the best pup he can be. And we can tell you - when that "best pup" fully arrives, this one will be truly amazing! Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Sabrina is an amazing dog who just needs someone willing to work with her. She is amazing with children (just needs work on being too excited around small children but has gotten much better with our fosters 2 year old) She is most definitely mixed with a working breed - she needs consistent exercise to be a calm house dog and will become destructive if her mind isn’t stimulated. She absolutely loves sniff walks and fetch to wear her out and work her brain. She will need a more involved owner who understands her needs. She has a lot of allergies and our vet believes her skin issues may just be a chronic life long struggle. She is taking 1/2 an apoquel a day and her foster supplements with calming treats and allergy/immune boost treats daily. We have not done an elimination diet to determine exact allergies, but she is currently eating Rachel Ray Limited Ingredient (Just 6 depending on bag design/store) Lamb flavor and has been doing better! She still has bald spots and flare ups if the weather is bad or she gets stressed out. We’re working on determining when it happens to try and eliminate the flare ups so her hair can grow back fully. Currently all 4 shoulders have some degree of baldness and occasional bumps from her chewing, but I’ve been keeping sweaters on her and the calming treats to try and get her to leave the area alone long enough for the hair to grow back. She’s got some unique quirks that make her even more special! She is described as being cat like - she absolutely loves to be up high looking over everything. When outside, she can be found hopping onto the patio table to look in windows or take a nap. She’s also been caught napping on top of book shelves or any surface big enough to hold her body and she’ll curl up like she’s meant to be there! She has no fear when it comes to humans, but can be skittish in the house when it comes to switching rooms or entering/exiting like she’s unsure what will come from the other room. She does alright with other dogs in neutral territory, but does resource guard her food, kennel, and occasionally the fosters sun room if she can see the other dogs filtering in and out while she’s hanging out in there. However, she responds incredibly well to correction and is eager to please! With or without treats, she loves to practice new skills and is working incredibly hard to be calm in the house! She still has trouble channeling her energy some days if she hasn’t had enough stimulation, but you can see how hard she tries to maintain composure during training sessions! She’s a work in progress, but her personality and temperament are perfect for someone looking for a loyal dog that’s willing to do anything from cuddle on the couch to adventure with them! https://www.pupandcatco.com/
