Luke is gentle, loving and loves to play. He is house broken and crate trained. He loves his crate and will go into it without issue. He does great with our other female Aussie but our older male dog is not accepting another Male dog. Unfortunately we will need to rehome Luke for his own safety

Story
Meet Sargent This handsome boy was surrendered by his soldier daddy. When leaving he mentioned in passing that Sargent doesn’t like confined spaces. Sadly, nearly five years later, Sargent is in exactly that - the confines of a concrete kennel. We love this boy so much, but the shelter life is taking a toll on him. He needs a second chance desperately. Sargent is nearly six years old now. He’s thought to be a Boxer/Australian Shepherd mix. He’s a handsome boy with a tan and white coat and one brown and one partial blue eye. His ears are expressive and he looks at you as if he knows what you’re saying. Sargent is on the bigger side weighing 72 pounds. Sargent is a calm and relaxed dog when he’s in the play yards. He loves the fresh air, feeling the grass under his paws and the sun on his face. You can just see him relax. We give him as much time outside as we can. Sargent seems to be house-broken. He’s smart and knows some commands like sit and shake. Sargent has a lot of energy and will enjoy being part of an active family that’s able to keep his body and mind going. Sargent has a high prey drive. He’ll need to be an only pet to start. Time away and hooman bonding to decompress could change that. For his new family though it will be best to let him go at his own pace after all he’s been through. Sargent seems to be afraid of men when he meets them initially. He likes women though. For the person or family interested in Sargent, a few visits may be necessary for him to feel safe. Sargent fears stressful situations and that’s exactly what he’s in. Sargent wasn’t expecting the turn that his life took. He’s hanging in there, but we know it’s not easy on him. If you’re looking for a wonderful companion dog to welcome into your family, come meet Sargent. If interested in giving Sargent a soft landing, please get your application in https://www.charlessmithgallhumanesociety.org/page/dog-adoption-application Once an application is submitted online, you will receive an email saying your application has been successfully received. If you don’t receive this email within 24 hours, please check to make sure all application fields were completed or please email us at smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net. All adopters must complete an approval process which involves a reference check with a current/recent vet and a brief home visit if located in the immediate area. We do permit out-of-state adoptions. Adopters MUST come to the shelter to transport their new family member home. We do not ship, nor do we transport them to their new homes. Adoption policies and application procedures are detailed at the shelter website: http://smithgallhumanesociety.org/ under tab All Adoptable Animals. Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also rescued from local and area Animal Controls. The facility usually operates at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open. Adoptions and meet and greets are scheduled by appointment only. Complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can. An application doesn’t commit you or us to an adoption, but it allows our coordinator to begin the review process. Location: 4823 Helen Hwy., Sautee, GA 30571, Phone: 706-865-4135 Email: smithgallhumanesociety@windstream.net

Huxlee is a well mannered 45 lbs mix breed 1 year old boy. He would do best in a home with children over 12. Thank you for your interest in one of our Hero Babies! Before inquiring, we thought it was important to share a few of our policies. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Inquiries - If you would like more information on any dogs in the rescue, please email us at info@herorescue.org.

Story
Kirk is an almost 5 month old Australian Shepherd mix with the cute nubby tail that is typical of that breed. His whole butt and tail wiggle when he is happy! A little shy at first, if you have food, he will soon be your buddy! Kirk loves to be with his people and will become your shadow. Kirk loves other dogs and his perfect family needs a confident dog to teach a new family member. He is still trying to figure out the strange animal called a cat. He is very sweet with them and learning when he is calm that they come over. He would do best in a household with a stay at home family member so that he can continue working on his puppy skills and socialization. Bonus, he is already house and crate trained. Story
Hi, my name is Maggie. My mommy got me as soon as I was old enough to leave my doggy mom and I just turned 4 (Happy Birthday to me!) My mommy loves me very very much but she works very far away and is away from home for long periods of time each day which makes me sad and lonely. She wants me to have a more fun and fulfilled life so my Mommy is putting me on here to help me find a new family that can give me lots of cuddles and attention. I am super sweet and my mommy tells me I am a pretty pup which makes me wag my fluffy tail! I have kitty sisters but I'm never with them so I'm not exactly sure how I would react to them close up. I do like barking at them though! I love my people brother, especially when he gives me treats and pats on the head. I return the favor with kisses. I think I would like another people brother or sister (as long as they're gentle of course). I enjoy exploring and would love a yard too. If you think I could be a good pup for you, please please reach out 🐾
