Story
Hey everyone! My name is hopscotch! I have a very very sad story. I was picked up at a local very overcrowded shelter with my foot missing on one of my back legs. The muscle in my leg had completely atrophied and my leg was very infected. My back leg had to be amputated. I weighed 31 pounds and every bone in my body could be seen even under my thick coat of fur. I was such a medical mess my rescue didn’t expect me to make it. I am on the road to recovery but because of how neglected I was, I have a few requirements in my forever home! I am fostered with dogs and a small child and I’m great with dogs of all sizes! I am not a fan of kitties so I would need a home with no kitties! I am great with my foster mom’s kid but she thinks my best home would be with older kids. I have perfect house manners and would not even need crated if I was in a home alone. I had a litter of puppies I was clearly still nursing when I was found as a stray in a ditch but my puppies were never found. It’s hard telling what happened to them :( I am ready to find my happily ever after! I will need a fenced yard and someone who understands that it might it take me a few days to get the hang of things but once I do I will love you with my entire heart and soul! I am obedient, I am so smart, I’ve been through two different board and trains to learn the perfect manners a girl should have, and I would give my life for the family I love. Rizzo’s Compatibility:Dogs - Bring yours by and we’ll see if they click!Cats - YesKids - Yes, 8+Rizzo is a handsome cattledog mix who is housebroken, crate trained, and knows all the important stuff like sit, lie down, give paw, and how to gaze lovingly into your soul. He’s a social eater (he likes to dine near his people like the little gentleman he is) and an expert napper who takes his sunbathing schedule very seriously. Rizzo`s foster mom states that he enjoys running with her, and they`ve even started doing Couch to 5k together!Rizzo has been an excellent office buddy here at HSHC and a devoted companion to the people who’ve taken the time to get to know him. He’s hoping for a calm and steady home where guests are few, and he can really settle in as someone’s best friend. He may not be the life of the party, but if you prefer quiet mornings, loyal company, and a dog who thinks the sun rises and sets with you... Rizzo is already halfway in love. Come meet him and see if the feeling’s mutual!

Story
Meet Rhett a 4 1/2 year old border collie mix. He was in a home where they very much loved him. He was absolutely spoiled and cared for. Unfortunately Rhett had a few behaviors that the owners tried to correct but were unable too so they brought him in, in hopes to find a home that will suit him a little better. Rhett lived with cats and was great with them. On his walks his owner stated he does act interested in chasing stray cats though. He also lived with 2 other dogs where he enjoyed zooming around the backyard with. He just didn't want to share his food and needs to be feed separate from other dogs. Rhett in typical border collie fashion will show you how fast he can run if he gets loose. We are sure he is quick but luckily he is microchipped so he can be returned home if you cant keep up! Great news, Rhett is also crate trained! He is use to sleeping in his crate at night but if left out is still well behaved in the home. He likes to even go in his crate for some relaxation time on his own and enjoys being in there to catch some quick zzz's. While Rhett enjoys sleeping on the couch we would recommend that he not be aloud on the couch in his new home because unfortunately he resource guards it and will nip if you tell him to get down, so sits just best to avoid letting him on furniture. But a nice dog bed on the floor would be just fine! Already fixed, up to date on shots, and microchipped this boy is ready for his new home! Rhett loves all people and doesn't know a stranger so if you think this loving boy will fit into your family please stop out and meet him!Give the shelter a call at (574) 267-3008 or email them at info@awlwarsaw.com if you have any questions about me! If not, stop by the shelter at 1048 S 325 E in Pierceton, IN 46562 to look at me! No appointments necessary!
