Story
Tessa is a 9yo border collie mix. An active household or one with kids living there or visiting often would be perfect for her. Can provide a crate if needed but she's house trained and free roams indoors now. The Good: Shes extremely smart, learns well and isn't destructive. She can be trained with voice and hand commands. She's very active for her age and doesn't have an off setting - more like a standby mode. She's absolutely addicted to tennis balls! Adores children to the point of whining if she can't play with them. Even though she's a herding breed, she's never nipped at kids for running around or being loud. The Bad: Tessa is leash-reactive towards other dogs, so she's not the kind of dog you can take to the dog park or other doggy events. She's very selective with the dogs she'll get along with, usually she prefers small male breeds. She got into a fight with my other, bigger female dog and hasn't gotten over it in 3 years. No cats!

Story
Tux is a very playful, cuddly girl. She loves to play outside all day with a favorite toy, but most of all, she loves being with her people. If you are looking for an energetic and loyal border collie, Tux is the one for you! Unfortunately, Tux cannot be around cats and small dogs whatsoever. This is why she is having to be rehomed. She reacts to anything small like it is prey, so she needs to be in a home with no small animals or young children. She can be a wonderful dog, but our home is not the right one for her.

Story
Dumont is a 1-year-old, 52-pound girl with a big heart and a deep love for her people. Once she has time to decompress and burn off some energy, she truly shines and shows just how wonderful she can be. On leash, Dumont walks without jumping and is very manageable. She tends to zigzag and happily carries a toy along the way, proudly showing it off, but she does not pull much. She rides beautifully in the car—initially unsure about getting in, but able to jump in and out on her own. Once settled, she sits or lays down and relaxes for the ride. Dumont enjoys exploring and sniffing, especially in low-stress environments, and loves carrying her toys wherever she goes. She knows “sit” and is learning additional cues like “down” and “get your toy.” She is very smart and quickly learns what is expected of her, especially when rewarded for keeping all four paws on the ground. She is treat motivated and takes treats gently. Affection is one of Dumont’s favorite things. She wants to be close to her person, soaking up pets and giving enthusiastic kisses. After exercise and mental stimulation, she happily settles into snuggle mode, curling up beside you with her head in your lap. Dumont adores meeting new people and is still learning polite greetings. She does best when visitors ask her to sit before offering attention or treats, and she improves quickly with consistency. She can sometimes be reactive to other dogs, so she will need continued training and thoughtful handling in those situations. In overstimulating or stressful environments, Dumont may become jumpy or mouthy, especially when first coming out of the kennel. Offering her a toy right away helps her redirect that excitement. As a young dog, she is still learning how to regulate her energy, but she responds well to verbal cues and guidance. Dumont would thrive in a calmer home that provides consistent structure, patience, and appropriate mental and physical outlets. With the right environment and continued training, she is an affectionate, intelligent companion who wants nothing more than to be close to her person and do well. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet your new pet, come to Guilford County Animal Services between 12 and 4 any day except Tuesday!

This pup is eligible for our Test the Couch program — a 7-day trial adoption to see if your home (and your couch) is the perfect fit. Learn more  https://pipsrescue.org/test-the-couch/ Sasha the Snuggle-Pup – “Fluffy, Fun, and Full of Personality!” By: CozyDogMom Wow. Just wow. Sasha has the softest, floofiest coat I’ve ever experienced—like hugging a cloud that wants to play fetch. She’s goofy in the best way and is always game for an adventure (or a nap). Highly recommend if you’re looking for a cuddle buddy with a dash of sass!   Trick-Learning Prodigy – “Smart, silly, and training like a champ.” By: FirstTimePupTrainer Sasha picks up on commands FAST. She’s eager to please and super treat-motivated. We’re working on “sit,” “stay,” and “don’t chew the shoe,” and she’s nailing it. She does test boundaries (toddler energy!), but with consistency, she thrives. If you love training sessions, she’s your girl.   Best with Big-Dog Buddies – ½ “Loves confident canine companions—but no cats, please.” By: PackLeaderVibes Sasha truly shines around other confident dogs her size or bigger. She takes cues from them beautifully and gains confidence quickly. But homes with cats or small dogs? Not her vibe. She’s got a big personality and needs friends who can match her energy.   Kid-Friendly-ish – “Great with older kids, not for toddlers.” By: DogDadWithTeens Sasha adores kids—but younger ones might find her a bit too clever for comfort! She does best with older children who can stick to consistent commands and not let her sneak an extra treat (or three). Think “fun-loving puppy meets tiny lawyer.”   All the Essentials Included – “Vaccinated, spayed, and ready to move in.” By: ReadyToAdopt Fully vetted, spayed, and healthy—this pup is as turnkey as they come. No assembly required (unless you count assembling a toy collection for her). Sasha is absolutely adoption-ready!   Final Verdict: A Must-Adopt! – “She’s not just a good dog—she’s a great dog.” By: FutureBestFriend If you’re looking for a sweet, smart, fun-loving pup who thrives on affection and structure, Sasha is the perfect pick. No cats, no tiny dogs—but tons of love and laughter guaranteed. ##2056176##
