Story
Who needs a box full of chocolates when you can have a heart full of Freckles?💝 Meet Freckles, the husky/Australian cattle dog mix estimated to be about 4 years old! This is our best estimated guess as we don’t know his family tree. Freckles is currently weighing in at about 82lbs but don’t let that run you off! As big as he is, he is extremely respectful of personal space. He loves the couch and the bed but will only jump up when invited to do so! And when he does, let us tell you, it’s magical. This boy can snuggle like no other🥰 Watch his video and you'll find yourself clinking on that adoption application below: https://youtu.be/c7yTsYN_5Oc?si=XPv2sM5WpqO-Hq8x Freckles has become a rescue favorite. The staff and volunteers constantly gush over how PERFECT he is!🤩 He will melt your heart. Freckles enjoys dogs and people but most of all, he loves to be outdoors! He would make an incredible adventure companion as he will quite literally stop and smell the roses. Freckles loves walking, hiking, enjoys water, really anything you love to do. He is so go with the flow. He is amazing in the car and is always down for a ride! Errands, food, shopping- you name it, he’s there for it. Sometimes he will try to sit right up front with you on the center console, so make sure to get him a seatbelt! Freckles is very food motivated. His ability to gently take every treat and listen to each command is unmatched. Freckles is so smart and can pick up on any command quicker than you can snap your fingers! He currently knows sit, stay, come and shake. He loves to show off his party tricks! He is wonderful on a leash and has amazing manners. Right out of the house or car, he can pull so he will need someone who can handle a stronger dog. He is great in his kennel but would much rather be out and about with you! Not to mention, Freckles is house trained to perfection!🐾 He is a very friendly boy but would prefer a home with no cats please! Freckles dream home would be somewhere over yonder on a farm. He would love all the free space to stretch his legs! He is a country boy at heart. He is great at socializing and his companionship level is set at 10! He is great with people, men and woman, and children. Get ready for his love and lean! When he comes to you for kisses or scratches, he will lean his whole body into your legs like he’s melting into you. Love is his favorite thing in the world! Freckles is an all around gentlemen. He has a striking appearance that’s bound to get compliments everywhere you go. His personality is top tier and his love is unmatched. Apply today for this one of a kind boy or you might regret it!❤️ https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/65f08d5278df96ffb0076209 Questions? Our on-site trainers support the positive growth of our dogs and we enjoy seeing their progress!  Our commitment to comprehensive medical care sets us apart. We've received glowing feedback from veterinarians who commend our dedication to ensuring the health and well-being of every animal in our care with treatments that often go above and beyond. Our adoption fees reflect the extensive care and resources that go into each animal we save. The adoption fee is a donation to the mission and goes far beyond getting a fully vetted pet.  The rescue’s hard costs alone (excluding transport) for a healthy dog to go through our program typically range between $412 to $859, which includes boarding, food, medications, vaccines, and spay/neuter. For heartworm-positive dogs, hard costs are upwards of $1,368. Additionally, dogs requiring extended boarding, extra training, or extra medical care—such as dental work, vision care, or orthopedic care—can lead to expenses running into the thousands. Also, included in the adoption fee are costs to cover transport up to the Pacific Northwest or East Coast. Transport is a significant additional expense to the rescue.  While adoption fees help cover part of these expenses, we want to emphasize that the rescue does not receive government funding and must fundraise to offset the remaining expense balance which ranges $100-1,000++ per animal on these direct costs. It doesn’t stop there! Story
Let me introduce you to Pepper, this girl can best be described as the quiet person at the party that is actually going to be the best connection and become a loyal friend for life. The role of “life of the party” isn’t what she is auditioning for, there is only so much room for those. She would best be suited for the role of, dedicated-adoring bestie. Sure, initially she may come off shy but as you get to know her you realize, she likes to get to know the people she spends time with, and for her, knowing is loving. This is a companion dog, content at your side and appreciative of everything, especially the small stuff like snuggles and treats. Take a look at Pepper in action then come back to read more- https://youtu.be/I60i8V38Sdk In rescue breed and age are offered as educated guesses given we do not know a dogs history but we believe Pepper is about 2 years old and is possibly a Cattle dog/Shepherd mix and she weighs 33 lbs. The perfect size for hopping in the car and being able to see out of the window with no trouble at all. Pepper is a perfect putzing-around gal, whatever way you spend your time, she will be happy to be there. She isn’t going to demand attention but she will quietly check-in for some affection, follow along occasionally, before finding a cozy spot nearby to lay down, maybe even with a toy. She responds positively to a connection and comforting presence without needing constant reinforcement or praise. Basically, Pepper will be happy to keep you company without getting in the way. Pepper currently lives with dogs and cats in her foster home, from small young puppies to the large mature ones. With dogs Pepper does have a type- she enjoys calm female companionship and would be happy to live in a home with a companion though she could happily be your one-and-only. And let’s not breeze over it, Pepper is cat-tolerant, not only is she respectful of the cats in her foster home but when introduced to our house kitty, she was curious but calm and respectful of her space. Peppers’s dream home? That is more about who is there, than what. She would love a home with a yard for exploring but what she really wants is someone who can understand that love takes a little time and is happy to give her that time. She has a quiet nature, with her foster sharing that she is both house and crate-trained, along with quiet in her crate. No whining or barking here, she enjoys her crate so its nothing to worry about. Wherever she calls home, she is going to show you the depth of rescue-dog love with her sweet, loving, loyal and attentive presence. It feels amazing to be on the receiving end of something so true. If she sounds like your girl, apply today! https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/67994d745862364f2a0a61d6 Questions? Let me introduce you to Greyson, best described as easy-like-Sunday-morning company and a true gentleman. He has all the makings of a loyal friend for life and it is my pleasure to introduce you to him. Meeting him it would be easy to think he is shy, likely because his looks usually go along with a much more excitable personality but he was a refreshing reminder that even in dogs, you cant judge them based on their cover. Shy is not the best way to describe him, he is calm, assured, and steady. Unbothered but fully present, ready for a shared moment or a solo-sit in the sun. He is a true companion dog, content at your side and appreciative of everything, especially the small stuff like snuggles and treats. Watch his Get-To-Know Greyson video here then come back to read more https://youtu.be/pWmiX2uy0ZU In rescue breed and age are offered as educated guesses given we do not know a dogs history but we believe Greyson is about 2 years old and is possibly a Cattle dog/Shepherd mix and he weighs 50 lbs. The perfect size for hopping in and out of the car while being able to see out of the window with no trouble at all. If car-trips are not your thing, that is a-ok with him, putzing around is a favorite past-time of his. However you spend your time, he will be happy to there. He isn’t going to demand attention but he will quietly check-in for some affection and follow along for a bit, before finding a cozy spot nearby to lay down. He responds positively to a connection and comforting presence without needing constant reinforcement or praise. Basically, Greyson will be happy to keep you company without getting in the way. Greyson currently lives with dogs in his foster home and he has shown he has a type- enjoying calm but playful female who can enjoy his companionship without needing a constant playmate, though, he could happily be your one-and-only. Although he did not show us any of the typical qualities we typically see in Cattle dog mixes, having space for play and/or an outlet for energy will be invaluable simply given his age. Whether that is regular hikes, walks or having him join you on runs, he is built for it even if he doesn’t show it. Greyson’s dream home? He would love a home with a yard for exploring but what he really wants is someone who can understand that love takes a little time to build and is happy to give him that time. He has a quiet nature, with his foster sharing that she is both house and crate-trained, and though he may protest the slightest bit for a few minutes in the crate, he settles with no trouble. Wherever he calls home, he is going to show you a depth of rescue-dog love with his sweet, loving, loyal and attentive presence. It feels amazing to be on the receiving end of something so true. Story
Frankie is a 5yo Blue Heeler. We are guessing he has some Border Collie in him too due to his hair/appearance. He is a kind and loving dog that needs regular exercise and attention. Frankie would thrive in a home with NO other dogs and NO small children. He is gentle with cats but does try to herd them. Frankie is highly intelligent but slightly stubborn. He is a great watch dog and is very loyal to his humans. He does need a bit of leash training as he tries to lead and barks at other dogs. He has a great personality and is looking for a forever home where he is able to run outside and get lots of attention.

Story
~~THIS DOES IS **NOT** IN THE CARE OF THE ALTERNATIVE HUMANE SOCIETY. PLEASE REACH OUT TO THE OWNER DIRECTLY AT ksherman91@live.com  THANK YOU ~~ REHOMING: in Whatcom county, WA-Frankie is a 5year old Blue Heeler. Frankie is a good boy with a sweet heart. He loves his humans and is a great watch dog. He loves outdoor time and playing fetch with a ball or a frisbee. He is the first to greet you when you get home and is sad to see you leave. He is potty trained and incredibly smart, but also a little stubborn. He knows many commands but tests his independence sometimes when off leash.  Frankie is an only dog and would prefer to stay that way. He does well on leash but when he crosses other dogs' paths he tends to bark or try to show dominance. With consistent walks I believe this could be corrected. He loves going on adventures and walks.  He has lived with cats his whole life and is gentle with them but as a cattle dog he tends to herd them.  Frankie would do fine with older kids but cannot be with small children. He tends to react and act out of character when provoked or stressed.  This is our reason for rehoming. We realize this type of stress is too much for Frankie with a toddler and another baby on the way.  He is healthy without any health concerns.  Frankie would thrive in a home with a fenced in yard with room to play and run, no other dogs, and no small children. He needs regular exercise and attention.  Frankie is roughly 50 lbs and has medium length black and white hair. He is not neutered.  I do imagine he might take a short amount of time to  acclimate to his new surroundings and people since he has been with us his whole life, but once he gets to know you he will show his affection.  ##2205185##
