Story
Located in San Antonio Texas Meet Gerti the Border Terrier! She is our newest addition. She was found running the streets with her Dogo Argentino pal. The family that found them spent weeks trying to find their owners with no success. Gerti was not spayed and did not have a microchip. The good new is, she is now spayed, microchipped, and has had all her vaccines! The bad news is, she is heartworm positive. All though we are all very bummed about this she has a fabulous veterinarian that is taking care of her! She has started Gerti on her heartworm treatment protocol and says there is no reason why she can’t find a new home while she is undergoing treatment! Now we just need to find her that perfect place to call home! If you are interested in Gerti let us know.

Story
Gregory – 8 Week Old Border Terrier Schnauzer Mix | The Sweet Talker with the Serious Face Gregory is a happy little boy with the cutest serious expression when he locks eyes with you. Do not let that thoughtful look fool you though, his tail is almost always wagging. He was the first of the two brothers to discover his bark and loves to “talk” when he wants your attention. He enjoys playing outside and is right there for a good game of chase with his brother and foster sibling. He may be slightly calmer than Theodore, but at this young age he still has plenty of playful puppy energy. Gregory loves giving kisses and will follow them up with gentle nibbles. If you wear your hair in a scrunchie ponytail consider yourself warned, he and his brother think that is the best toy ever. Like his brother he sleeps through the night and does well with the crate when left open. Morning snuggles are his specialty and he loves starting the day curled up close to his people. Gregory would make a wonderful companion for someone looking for a sweet affectionate puppy with just the right amount of playful spark. He is being fostered in Texas but can be transported. You can apply directly for Theodore by clicking the Apply for Adoption button on the linked page. https://www.shelterluv.com/embed/animal/FODS-A-814 All our dogs come with 30 days of free post-adoption support through Petcademy.org. This benefit includes free access to Petcademy's team of trainers/behaviorists, as well as access to online materials that will help you settle your new family member into your home. You can text unlimited questions to Petcademy and they'll respond within 24 hours (Monday-Friday).

Story
Benny was found running the streets in a stray dog pack in the Rio Grande Valley. When he first came here, he was fearful around men and could be a bully to new dogs, but he's come a long way since then. Once he gets to know you, he's a sweet, funny, playful dog who wants to be with you as much as possible. Benny was initially cat-aggressive, but he's been around cats for several months and has grown used to them. He mostly ignores them but sometimes chases them. He can be around cats, but should not be left alone with them. (I kennel him when we leave.) Benny gets along well with most female dogs, but he can be dominant towards male dogs. He shows some resource guarding of both food and people and seems to want to "defend" his people from other dogs. That doesn't mean he can't get along with other dogs or other male dogs, but he needs to be introduced to other dogs carefully. The same can be true for introducing him to new people---he needs some time to build trust. Someone who is willing to take time and socialize Benny with other people and animals would be a great adopter. Benny is a great dog who really wants to please. He is loving, affectionate, and playful.
