Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Online Adoption Application Willow was a girl in awful condition. Someone brought her to the shelter dehydrated starved and pregnant where she couldn’t even stand. Unfortunately she lost all her babies and an emergency spay was performed so she could begin to heal. She was just so sick. Slowly she started to recover, gain weight and now she is an active loving girl that gets along with dogs and all people. She may have Frenchie , maybe Boston maybe some bulldog. We don’t know but she is a cute girl with a pushed in face with a tail. She does have an issue with eating too fast and drinking too fast, we use a slow feeder but still sometimes she will throw her food up. She was seen by a vet and they did xrays, they feel her throat is very narrow which is the cause. She gets very excited when eating and then runs around and her food will come back up. If you can keep her calm and give her smaller meals she does really well with keeping her food down. She is considered a special needs dog but she is wonderful, happy, and a great dogs. When she does calm down she just lays around the house and is calm, she just needs a real home and family to call her own. She is medium size, about 30lbs and solid. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 18, 2026, 1:23 pm

Story
Meet MJ! He is a 9yr old beagle/terrier mix. He was found as a stray in KY and ended up in a kill shelter...until we rescued him. He seems to get along with every other dog we have (incl puppies of all ages). He walks well on a leash once he gets over the excitement of being out with you. At only about 40 lbs, he is the perfect sized companion dog. MJ is very smart too and learned to sit for a treat & give his paw within 5mins. His aim is to please :) We find that he doesn't like to be without people in general but that's not to say that he likes all people and is definately picky about who he trusts. The ideal home would have someone around rather than leaving him for the workday and would have some dog training knowledge about how to handle a fear aggressive dog. We can no longer bring him to adoption events since many in the general public do not know how to read a dog's body language (he does give signs when he's uncomfortable). We would recommend a low-traffic household for sure because of the potential fear aggressive bite and someone with experience in dealing with this behavior. Our adoption fee is $325 and all of our pets come with full vet records.  All animals are up to date on vaccinations & dewormed.  Unless otherwise indicated, puppies are NOT spayed or neutered since our vet recommends waiting until 6mos of age to do so.  Please keep in mind we are a Rescue Group and most of our pups come to us with little or no background info regarding breed, eventual size, age or prior health issues. We rely on the expertise of our veterinarians and make estimates based on past experience. Also, when you're adopting from a Rescue, you should ask questions! You should always get shot/medication records and the rescue should have had the dog for a bit of time to check for disease. Take the time to educate yourself before adopting. A reputable rescue will have nothing to hide and will answer ALL your questions!!!Please visit our Web Site to see all of the pets we have for adoption. Our site contains information about our adoption process and fees, our application, and answers to frequently asked questions. Please read it carefully before contacting us. If you are interested in adopting THIS wonderful pet, we strongly encourage you to complete our adoption application now. Once we receive and approve your application, we will notify you of approval. The first application to be received and approved will get 1st choice - be sure that your references are available and willing to speak with us. Thank You Visit us at one of our next adoption days.  Details are on our site under the "How to Adopt" tab. Hope to see you there!October 10, 2026, 12:16 am

Story
NOTE:  If you are seeing this posting, she's still available :) Meet Trixie!  We were told she was born on 1/11/22.  Her mom looked to be a boston terrier mix. Trix is tipping the scales at 25lbs and is lean because she's always on the go given her age. Trixie is a very sweet girl, who just needs some basic training.  Her fosterhome has a fenced yard and since she has had minimal leash training, that works best at the moment.  She needs routine & some manners to be the perfect family pet.  Trix is up to date on all of her vaccines, is spayed and was tested for HW and tick borne diseases - all were neg.  She has the shiniest sleek black coat we've ever seen on a pup before!  She's very treat motivated and when it comes to taking commands, she's all ears LOL  Her friends are a group of adult dogs as well as a couple of young shepherd mixes that are double her size also with us.  Trixie's favorite game is fetch & she actually brings the ball back to you! Recent small breed experience is a must since they're just not for everyone & definitely not for the 1st time dog owner.  This girl would NOT do well in a city environment, so we're seeking a more rural home since that's all she knows.  If you have the time and patience to train a pup, please visit our site at endingthesadness.org & fill out an application to be considered.  Adopters must be no more than 2hrs driving distance from us.  Only older children in the home, please.October 10, 2026, 12:16 am

Story
Honor - 8 years, 18lbs, Boston Terrier, Spayed  This senior angel is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org Level of dog ownership experience needed:FLEXIBLE – We predict this dog will be low on the challenge scale with regard to exercise and mental stimulation requirements, but seniors tend to need a lot of help and understanding when it comes to lifestyle and veterinary issues. Seniors usually need quiet, calm environments and routines and do not do well with a lot of bustle, change, and rambunctious movement (kids and young playful dogs, for instance). This dog’s adopter will need to be prepared for senior health challenges, which means frequent vet visits and very expensive veterinary bills. (An annual senior blood panel alone costs around $500 in NYC.) Senior care can also take an emotional toll on their humans. Adopting a mature pup is a wonderful thing to do, but it can also be difficult.  Energy level:LOWER – Pretty chill indoors and won’t demand endless amounts of stimulation and exercise but still needs a few short walks a day (10-30 min each) for potty breaks and to stretch their legs MEDIUM – Needs a daily 60-90 minute walk in addition to potty break strolls (10-30 min each). Also needs socializing opportunities outside the home and a little mental stimulation at home like tricks training practice or chew items. Okay in the city?We don’t know yet because this pup is brand new to us. Most seniors do well in the city after they’ve had time to adjust to a new environment, but some never adapt and need homes in the burbs.  Potty trained?Probably! Seniors usually are, but all will have transitional accidents for the first week or so. Seniors tend to need potty breaks more often than younger dogs, and they can lose their ability to fully control their potty habits as they continue to age, so willingness to be patient with cleanup and wee pads is crucial. Social with other dogs?Yes, but we don’t know to what degree yet. Some enjoy the company of other calm dogs, others can coexist well but prefer to keep to themselves. We’ll learn more soon. Social with cats?Probably. Seniors are usually mellow enough that they are able to coexist well with cats.  Comfortable with children?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)We’re not sure yet, but we try to err on the side of caution. Respectful kids ages 8 and up are probably a safe bet. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age carefully.  Medical status:Healthy for their age as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies vaccines; heartworm tested if coming from Tennessee or Puerto Rico; spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon intake. Adopters will need to be ready for senior care – at a minimum, that will be annual checkups including senior bloodwork and a dental post adoption (most senior rescues need one). How did this dog end up with Social Tees? Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles, and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses. This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc ##2846415##
