Story
Hello, I'm Devon! I'm a 7 year old female Boston Terrier. I'm a retired mama who is looking forward to her next chapter! I had a hard time adjusting to life in a home at first. Everything was new and scary. My foster mom has been very gentle and patient with me. I've learned to enjoy toys and chewy treats. I'm always carrying a toy around! I love to snuggle up with my foster pup siblings. If someone is in a cozy spot, I will wiggle my way in right next to them! I need another dog in my life, someone who is confident and calm, and can be my BFF. I will be looking for a forever home with at least one dog friend. I'm also good with cats and small animals. I currently live in a big family with my foster mom, dogs, cats, and rabbits. Since I've been in foster care, I've been learning to trust people. It is hard for me to overcome my fear of newcomers. I follow my foster mom everywhere she goes and I hate it when she leaves the room without me! I do alright when she leaves the house, but if she's home, I want to be with her! I would love to find a forever home where my person will be home most of the time. I am crate trained and go right in for a treat. I don't like leash walking. I've been working on it, but I prefer to be carried if I have to be away from home. I'm no explorer... I just want to be a couch potato, and stay safely inside. Due to my resistance to leash walking and nervous tendencies, I will need a securely fenced yard for potty time. I initially struggled with potty training, but now I'm doing great. I will need some patience while I adjust to a new schedule in my forever home, but I know I can do it! I really hope I can find a gentle, kind, patient forever family! I have a lot of love to give and I become strongly attached if I'm given the time to bond. Devon is being fostered in Southern Lancaster County and interested adopters must come to her foster home twice. The first visit is a meet and greet with all the members of the household including existing dogs in the home. The second visit is to take her home. Devon is spayed, vaccinated, heartworm negative, and has been routinely treated with parasite preventatives. Devon has a stress induced heart murmur. When she is calm it is not detectible, but if she becomes very afraid or upset it may be present. It is not anticipated to be a threat to her health. Two vets have evaluated her and it was not present during their exams, however it was noted at her initial intake exam. Go online to www.zoeshouserescue.com and complete an adoption application! We do not always receive applications submitted through adoptapet or petfinder. Kennel license 9117 PO box 2372 Reading pa 19608

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. 2nd Chance 4 Life Rescue is primarily a sanctuary for senior and medically needy dogs.  Every once in awhile you will see younger dogs but for the most part our dogs live out their life at the ranch at the request of their previous owners or their owners families.  We have many sponsorship dogs.  Our sponsors love to keep in touch and know how their sponsored fur buddy is doing :)When we have foster families we are thrilled to be able to take adoptable younger dogs :)  So if you have ever thought about becoming fosters please feel free to go to our foster/volunteer page and fill out an application. The Ranch located at 737 Taylor Rd., Windsor, PA is always looking for dedicated volunteers that will commit to at least a 2 hour shift per week at the rescue.  Volunteers work in play yards, help with laundry and feeding.  Some enjoy landscaping or carpentry projects and some like to bake for the healing center visitors :)Thank you for supporting our mission of caring for the elderly and medically needy souls that need us!My name is Taylor.  I came to the ranch when I was 7 weeks old and have been here for almost 2 years.  I have a bladder problem that cannot be surgically corrected.  I could wear diapers but I absolutely hate them!!  Here at the ranch I do not have to wear a diaper because they mop and steam floors several times a day but I drip and they don't make me feel bad about it :)I may spend my life here but if I do I will be loved and accepted even though I can't hold my bladder :) I love to give kisses and recieve pets!Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please fill out an adoption application: Adoption application (Dog) Adoption Application (Cat)   Please understand we do not adopt out dogs to families with children under the age of 5. We do not adopt dogs to renters. Some dogs will have fence requirements while others may not.   A pet is a lifetime commitment. The dogs and cats in our system find themselves there, for the most part, because their humans did not have the same loyalty to them as they did to their owners. We do not take the adoption process lightly, and will do everything in our power to make sure the animal is placed correctly the first time around for your sake and theirs. Thank you for choosing to adopt not shop!April 14, 2025, 10:17 am

Story
Vaccinations up to date, spayed / neutered. Housetrained: YES Prefers a household without Children, other dogs, cats. Sweet Miles is a superb companion and snuggle buddy. He's shy at first, but not too shy to ask for a back rub or a treat. He'll show you his belly and ask you to confirm it's still soft (it is!) He also loves chest and bum scratches, and in time, head scratches. Miles prefers soft words and needs a calm environment, consistency and positive reinforcement. As his confidence grows in his new home, he'll readily wag his tail when you laugh or smile and say sweet things to him. He'll also ask you to play tug with him when the time is right. Miles is housetrained but not used to being crated. He is good boy and will be able to adapt to new or continued training. Some of his favorite snacks are frozen pure pumpkin Kongs, sweet potatoes, petite greenie dental chews, frozen nonfat plain Greek or probiotic yogurt, peanut butter, hard boiled egg whites and chicken chicken chicken. For enrichment/stimulation, he likes (beginner) puzzle feeders and snuffling! Miles loves sitting in the sun, sniffing the world, running errands and car rides with a few treats and a cozy bed in the back seat. He walks well on leash, sometimes needing a slight leash jiggle and a few whistles or clicks to redirect him during leashed walks. He does have a high prey drive, so squirrels and chipmunks take heed! Back at home, he'll help with the laundry and dishes before snuggling under blankets at your side, and napping; occasionally letting out little snores.  At night, he'll even remind you it's time to put on your pajamas and get some ZZZZs! Miles is fostered in Sunbury (Northumberland County), Pennsylvania and is ready to join a family ♥ www.mostlymuttz.org https://facebook.com/mostlymuttz Once you’re an approved adopter, your approval applies to any dog in our rescue that’s a good match for you. Story
Ella was returned to our care after her adopters  suffered a medical emergency leaving them unable to care for Ella (fka Maw) and Miles (fka Paw). When they arrived back into our care, we believed them to be bonded but have quickly learned they will actually do better separated.  Ella loves to play with toys: benebones and nylabones but especially tug of war.  She loves attention and will shower her person with loads of kisses. She is the perfect combination of sweet and playful.  At times she can be strong willed but she is a pretty good listener and will be able to adapt to new or continued training. Ella loves gentle affection, soft scratches, soft words, sitting in sun, walks, sniffing and running. She enjoys climbing under cozy blankets on the couch or in her bed to nap.  Ella will thrive in a home with exercise/healthy stimulation. She walks well on leash, sometimes needing a slight leash jiggle and a few whistles to redirect her during a leashed walk. She does have a high prey drive - so squirrels and bunnies beware! Some of Ella’s favorite treats are canned pure pumpkin, plain nonfat Greek/probiotic yogurt, greenie dental chews, hardboiled egg whites, pnut butter. Girl’s got good taste!  Ella is housetrained but not used to being crated. She does well without a crate but the room should be “Ella proofed” (soft things such as pillows should be out of reach) www.mostlymuttz.org Once you’re an approved adopter, your approval applies to any dog in our rescue that’s a good match for you.
