If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application. Hi, I'm Leche, a mostly Boxer, Siberian Husky and German Shepherd with some American Pit Bull and Australian Shepherd. I had a DNA test done if you hadn't guessed. I was rescued from Animal Services and I'll always be grateful to CARL for being given a chance at finding my forever home. I was found as a stray with an injured front leg. I've since had surgery to repair my leg and I'm ready for my forever home. I would do best in a home with older children or adults and in a single dog home. I need lots of physical and mental stimulation. I love car rides, running, walking and most of all snuggling! If you are looking for a sweet shadow, it's me! I will follow you to the end of time. If you're interested in meeting me, please fill out an online application.March 7, 2026, 5:35 pm

Breed: Boxer / Pit Bull X DOB: 6/2022 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: medium Color(s): brown / white Description:Hi, I'm Sadie, a very active Boxer / Pit Bull X in need of a new home as I don't always get along with the cats in the home.I am very well-mannered and friendly with people. I am fearful of loud noises and therefore would do best in a quiet home. I need daily exercise and I'd make a great running partner as I love to run. I also enjoy playing ball and frisbee. I'm house and crate trained and have had formal training and know basic commands such as 'Come' and 'Sit'. 'Stay' is a work in progress.I am not good with small dogs and it's unknown if I'm good with large dogs. I do well with older children but I've not been around younger kids.If you're an active individual or family and are looking for a furry friend, please fill out an online application to meet me.March 7, 2026, 5:35 pm

Story
Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Boxer X DOB: 9/2017 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: short Size: large Color(s): tan/white (white paws, blk muzzle) Description: ***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application. Hi, I'm Amber, a very sweet Boxer X who was abandoned at CARL's Pet Care Center by another rescue who has been boarding me there. What I did to deserve this I'll never know. I was turned into the Riverside shelter by my ex-owners. When I thought my time was up, I was rescued or so I thought. I was grateful to be out of the shelter and had high hopes of finding my true forever home. Sadly I've been waiting since December 2024 with no sign of anyone finding me a forever home. The rescue who pulled me abandoned me without paying their boarding fees. Hard to believe that a supposed rescue would do that to another rescue who relies heavily on this income. Sadly it's not the first time that has happened to CARL. Thankfully CARL was able to take ownership of me under the California Abandoned Animal Act. I'm finally able to go on walks and interact with the CARL volunteers. The kennel manager said I'm good with strangers, but I have not really been socialized with other dogs yet. I was in a play group session and I was stiff but seemed interested in playing. They think I just need more experience interacting with dogs in that type of setting. Volunteers who have walked me say I'm a great walker who is not dog reactive. If you have a fur-baby in the home already, please bring him/her along so we can do a meet and greet. I did kill a skunk in my play yard once, so they think I probably would not be compatible with cats. I've been on a treadmill and I really enjoyed that.    I also enjoy a good belly rub.   I know basic commands including “paw” and I take treats nicely. If you're looking for a great gal to add to your family, please fill out an online application to meet me.  July 6, 2026, 1:31 pm

Story
MEET JAZZ, a handsome, loving, 6-year-old black Pit Bull Terrier mix (likely mixed with Boxer) in need of a foster or forever home. He is currently in Northern Minnesota. Jazz has been waiting for awhile and keeps getting overlooked, but he's so deserving of a home! He's friendly & loyal once he has bonded. He can be a bit shy in the beginning, but that wears off quickly. He's playful, smart, protective, brave, curious, athletic, independent and handsome. He will make a good couch potato once he knows he's home. Jazz would do best in an adult-only home with people who really want to give a home to a dog in need. He promises he won't disappoint. He will make a good protector, because of his unwaivering loyalty. He doesn't demand a lot of attention or affection, but he certainly welcomes it. He originally was rescued from a California high-kill shelter in the nick of time. Jazz recently completed some wonderful training in Minnesota and is now doing well with other dogs. His ideal adopter would be an experienced single person or couple who wants a faithful companion. He loves the outdoors and loves to run around, and would be happy to go for walks and hikes with you. He weighs about 55 lbs. If you can foster or adopt Jazz, please email for an application.

Story
MEET RILEY, a 3-1/2-year-old Boxer-Shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home! Riley was rescued in the nick of time from a crowded California shelter where he was pretty terrified... He sat in the back of the kennel and looked at people as they walked by. Riley is doing so much better, but he still gets scared in new situations, so needs a patient and loving foster or adopter. He has done fine with other dogs so far, and can be tested again. He weighs about 50-55 lbs. He is currently in California but can be transported to Colorado. Please email for an application.

Story
Yeti is on our `Call to Action` list due to some challenging behaviors we`ve noticed here at the shelter--especially around other dogs. Yeti has a team of staff and volunteers who are working with him and he`s making amazing progress, but he is still a high energy dog who needs consistent exercise and enrichment. The shelter environment is difficult for him, and we think he needs out ASAP. Yeti would be best in a home with no other animals as he`s working on his skills, and likely adults or older children. He loves to play with his ball and he will gladly chase them for as long as you`ll throw them, and return them to your feet. If you are interested in learning more about him, please email animal.care@ventura.org

Story
Suki is a great dog. She is completely trained and won’t even eat without being told. Suki loves to play, loves her owners, and will do some unique tricks. Especially if you have a treat. She has done nothing wrong but she doesn’t fit in my military schedule and I adopted her out of love. She is a short pocket bully and doesn’t take up much space but she deserves a new owner willing to keep her for a long time.

Story
Athena is 10.5 years old. She does great with other dogs and amazing with kids and all people. She has been in homes with cats but would recommend one that can correct her. she loves to play with cats but does not understand when cats do not want to play with her. She is food and toy motivated and knows basic tricks. Does great on leash or at parks. Is potty trained but due to her age I believe, she can no longer hold it past 6-8 hrs. She prefers to be outside the crate but if you need to crate, I recommend hard sided kennels. If someone is outside that she doesn't know, she will stay where she is and bark until they are gone. She loves to sleep, travel, cuddle and eat. She has seasonal allergies that will require medicine or vet recommended treatment.
