Story
I DO NOT WANT TO PUT HER IN A SHELTER AND MIGHT BE WITHOUT A HOME SOONLola was born in November of 2018 and I rescued her the following month. I taught her basic commands as well as few trick’s which she took to very quickly. With moving throughout the years she has always been super good with traveling and adapting to new environments. Lola grew up with dogs and cats throughout the years with no issues. In early 2025 Lola had an infected uterus and needed a full hysterectomy. The surgery went perfectly with no issues and so did her recovery. Lola is the sweetest, most loving girl. Unfortunately, as of recently I’ve come to a point where I can’t take care of Lola properly due to certain circumstances and she is such a good girl and deserves more than what I can provide, especially as she is getting older. I’m looking for someone who has a big heart for fur babies and can provide a calm environment and fully support her needs :)Please reach out to me If interested or have any questions!

Breed: Boxer / Pit Bull X DOB: 6/2022 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: medium Size: medium Color(s): brown / white Description:Hi, I'm Sadie, a very active Boxer / Pit Bull X in need of a new home as I don't always get along with the cats in the home.I am very well-mannered and friendly with people. I am fearful of loud noises and therefore would do best in a quiet home. I need daily exercise and I'd make a great running partner as I love to run. I also enjoy playing ball and frisbee. I'm house and crate trained and have had formal training and know basic commands such as 'Come' and 'Sit'. 'Stay' is a work in progress.I am not good with small dogs and it's unknown if I'm good with large dogs. I do well with older children but I've not been around younger kids.If you're an active individual or family and are looking for a furry friend, please fill out an online application to meet me.March 7, 2026, 5:35 pm

Available to foster or adopt!Breed: Boxer X DOB: 9/2017 Gender: female Altered: yes Coat: short Size: large Color(s): tan/white (white paws, blk muzzle) Description: ***Needs a Foster Home*** This dog is in need of a foster home as well as a permanent home. If you are interested in fostering please fill out an online foster application. Hi, I'm Amber, a very sweet Boxer X who was abandoned at CARL's Pet Care Center by another rescue who has been boarding me there. What I did to deserve this I'll never know. I was turned into the Riverside shelter by my ex-owners. When I thought my time was up, I was rescued or so I thought. I was grateful to be out of the shelter and had high hopes of finding my true forever home. Sadly I've been waiting since December 2024 with no sign of anyone finding me a forever home. The rescue who pulled me abandoned me without paying their boarding fees. Hard to believe that a supposed rescue would do that to another rescue who relies heavily on this income. Sadly it's not the first time that has happened to CARL. Thankfully CARL was able to take ownership of me under the California Abandoned Animal Act. I'm finally able to go on walks and interact with the CARL volunteers. The kennel manager said I'm good with strangers, but I have not really been socialized with other dogs yet. I was in a play group session and I was stiff but seemed interested in playing. They think I just need more experience interacting with dogs in that type of setting. Volunteers who have walked me say I'm a great walker who is not dog reactive. If you have a fur-baby in the home already, please bring him/her along so we can do a meet and greet. I did kill a skunk in my play yard once, so they think I probably would not be compatible with cats. I've been on a treadmill and I really enjoyed that.    I also enjoy a good belly rub.   I know basic commands including “paw” and I take treats nicely. If you're looking for a great gal to add to your family, please fill out an online application to meet me.  September 3, 2026, 12:10 pm

Story
MEET RILEY, a 3-1/2-year-old Boxer-Shepherd mix in need of a foster or forever home! Riley was rescued in the nick of time from a crowded California shelter where he was pretty terrified... He sat in the back of the kennel and looked at people as they walked by. Riley is doing so much better, but he still gets scared in new situations, so needs a patient and loving foster or adopter. He has done fine with other dogs so far, and can be tested again. He weighs about 50-55 lbs. He is currently in California but can be transported to Colorado. Please email for an application.

Story
Meet Chocolate - every bit as sweet as her name suggests! Chocolate came into our care as a stray after being found wandering in the city of Fillmore. The finders were able to lure her into their car, and upon arrival at the shelter, she calmly hopped out and walked right up to our Animal Care staff. Rather than bolting, she happily accepted a leash and headed inside. Once in the shelter, she was easy to vaccinate and quickly showed us her affectionate side by actively seeking attention from staff even though vaccines are often stressful! Our volunteers have had the opportunity to spend time with Chocolate and have wonderful things to say about her. She has been designated as an `easy` dog, meaning any of our dog-walking volunteers can take her out. They report that she is easy to leash, does not jump up, and pays little attention to surrounding dogs while out and about. She walks nicely on leash with minimal pulling and appears to know several commands, including `sit,` `down,` and `paw.`We did an on-leash introduction of Chocolate to our large dog playgroups. She approached a large male Pit Bull mix with a rapid wagging tail, soft body language, playful bouncing, and several play bows. She did great!Chocolate has been an absolute love. We would love to see this special girl find a placement where she can continue to receive the care she needs as a sweet senior while enjoying all the comforts of a home instead of the shelter.

Say hi to Yeti the adorable snowman. Yeti’s goofy energy is contagious and he always gives us a reason to smile. His dream day is one where he gets to chase a ball, pop around in the kiddie pool, and hang out with (read: on top of) his favorite human. He’s been doing well meeting new people around the shelter, especially when treats are involved! He likely would prefer a home as the only pet, but has been showing consistent progress in disengaging when going by dogs in the kennels or on walks. Yeti’s volunteer team has been extremely dedicated, and it’s clearly paying off... he`s ready to go home with you! @vcanimalservices Say hi to Yeti the adorable snowman ?? Story
Todd is a male black with white. Lucy is a female tan, fawn with white. Both are American pit bulls, 6 years old and 66 lbs. Both neutered/spayed with microchips, house trained, kennel trained. No medical issues. They were adopted through the Ventura animal shelter foster program three years ago. They have lived together with my son for the past three years. They have had little experience with other dogs and young children. My son takes them for a walk on leashes every night after work. They’re not great around cats nor little dogs. At the time they were adopted, my son was married however since then his husband has retired from the Navy and due to various challenges, they are now in the process of a divorce. His husband is not able to take the dogs. My son works for the government and has orders to go to Japan in 2 to 3 months. We are hopeful that we can find a home or homes for both of the dogs. They are both typical pitbulls however we’ve never had any issues.

Hennessy is a 1.5 year old pit mix with an unknown breed. She’s fun and energetic and listens to basic commands. She is house trained and knows to release outside. She has been around kids and is friendly but she has not been around many other animals. It would be best to find a home who can continue training her and make sure she can be an overall good girl.
