Story
Claudie  is about 11mon old med size dog. She weighs about 30-35 lbs, she is a boxer/lab mix. She was found with her mom and her sibling abundant in the backyard of the house when the owner moved out. Her leg was injured really bad and we were told by the vet we might have to amputate the leg. After few treatments and Xrays, vet saw improvement and amputation didn't take place. She is recovered now, walking and running but she does limp and holds  her leg up. She will need some one who is patient with her and willing to take time to walk & hike with her. It was a miracle that she can even use that leg and it’s not amputated.  She is a sweet puppy, friendly with people and other dogs. She is vaccinated , spayed and will be microchipped before adoption. November 4, 2024, 8:54 pm

Story
This dog is on our `Call to Action` list because his handlers are limited to our more skilled staff and volunteers. This limitation is necessary for the safety of the dog, volunteers, and staff - but it also means his opportunities for enrichment and social interaction can be limited as well. The need for careful handling is because Cassadano has a low tolerance for body handling - sometimes when petting or touching him, he turns and snaps. Usually, it doesn’t seem like he is committed to a hard bite, more like a warning to get you to stop, but it is a bite nonetheless. He has been in our care going on 2 years in March 2026. No one has been able to take on a dog like him. He’s won over many staff and volunteers with his fun-loving, goofy personality and his exceptional playfulness with other large dogs. He has probably helped our playgroup team evaluate hundreds of dogs, if not more! It’s heartbreaking to see him grow up in a shelter, it’s no place for a dog to live long term. We hope there is someone who is willing to see past his initial unwillingness to be pet, take it slow like we have over the last year or so, and let Cassadano come around in his own time. @vcanimalservices Cassadano, the boxer mix who LOVES other dogs ?? If you’ve got a rowdy dog at home who wants a playmate, Casso is a perfect candidate. If you are looking for a goober of a dog who will put a smile on your face every single day, Cassa D is the MAN. Cassadano has spent nearly a year in shelter. He can be wary of strangers, and is not the most cuddly dog out there, so is unfortunately passed over. ?? He appreciates meeting new humans slowly, but is well worth the time spent to become his friend. And if you’ve got treats… it may not take that much time at all! The best way to learn more about Cassadano is to come meet him at the shelter, but you can find him our website too at vcas.us/dogs. Currently located at 600 Aviation Drive, Camarillo CA. Adoption hours: Tues-Sunday 1PM-6PM Full adoption process explained at vcas.us/adopt

Story
Meet Sunny, age 3. Sunny is 42 pounds, medium size, friendly loving dog. We recently moved and the land lord states just as we signed the lease. NO PETS. Not even a fish! Sunny is a happy, well behaved. Sunny is well trained. Sit, stay, down, up, kisses, hugs, go outside, easy, gimme paw or gimme five, speak, and he will howl with you! Sunny is very communicative in a cute way! Trained as a SERVICE DOG. Sunny can even help you up and down the stairs. Sunny loves to snuggle and sleep with you. He loves to eat his kibble and cheese sticks, going on walks. Sunny will alert when some one is at the door or a potential threat. (Husband used to be a Deputy) Sunny does NOT bark all day when you are not home. Sunny can hold his bladder for up to 12 hours. He is housed trained. Please feel free to reach out! Sunny is AMAZING! We hate to rehome this special guy- our land lord gave us 2 weeks or we are out!
