Story
Meet Zep! A laid-back Boxer/Bulldog mix estimated to be between six to eight years old currently in Sneads Ferry, NC, whose gentle spirit comes wrapped in a handsome dark brown brindle coat with white accents. At 65 pounds, Zep is a big, kindhearted boy who has perfected the art of enjoying life’s simple pleasures! Give him sunshine, soft grass beneath his belly, a breeze to sniff, and a comfortable place to nap, and he is one happy fellow. He loves lounging outdoors so much that you might wonder whether there is a little lizard hiding inside this porch dog! Zep is extremely friendly with people and happily greets neighbors, delivery drivers, and their treats and affection. He is also friendly with other dogs and enjoys visits and gentle playtime. He has shown no prey drive or reaction to cats, although his direct experience with them is limited. Calm, respectful children are welcome friends, too! When Zep feels playful, he enjoys rolling in the grass and chasing a ball or Frisbee for a few rounds before heading straight for a long, refreshing drink. He even carries his own toy home afterward! His preferred adventures are short strolls where he can sniff around at his own pace. Zep has some mobility limitations and urinary incontinence that his veterinarian believes may be related to Ehrlichiosis, a tick-borne condition. X-rays have also shown significant wear in his hips and back end, making stairs and long walks uncomfortable. He is happiest with short, easy strolls and convenient access to a yard where he can relax and take bathroom breaks throughout the day. Because Zep can have difficulty controlling when he needs to go, his new family should be comfortable with occasional indoor accidents and frequent opportunities to head outside. A single-story home with a yard would suit his slower pace beautifully, and his new family can also talk with their veterinarian about options for helping manage his incontinence. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, comfortable spending time alone, and knows sit, come, no, and stop. Long car rides are not his favorite and can upset his stomach. Mostly, Zep asks for something wonderfully uncomplicated: sunshine, grass, companionship, patience, and room to enjoy life at his mellow pace. Could this sweet, porch-loving companion be the one you've hoping to welcome into your family? Contact adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about Zep! Hello friends, Emma is a 2-year-old brindle and white Boxer-Terrier mix ready for my forever home. I'm an adventurous, energetic girl who loves to play and explore — I'm also affectionate and smart, which means I'll keep you entertained. I am a velcro dog so I cry a bit when I'm left in my crate, but I just need time to trust that you will be coming back. I'm about 40lbs and am very food motivated to learn all the puppyhood things. I am friendly with other dogs that I've played with so far. Emma is vaccinated, spayed and microchipped. Story
WATCH MY VIDEO...Meet Spot, a precious 5-year-old Boxer mix who deserves a forever home as much as any dog ever could. Back in 2022, Spot walked out of our shelter with a family he believed would be his forever family. We can only imagine how happy he must have been to finally have a home of his own. But now, heartbreakingly, Spot is back with us because his family no longer has time for him. It makes your heart break in two, especially when you meet this wonderful boy and see just how much love he has to give. Spot may be a little shy when you first meet him, but give him a little time and you`ll soon discover the sweet, affectionate dog hiding behind that initial hesitation. He`s friendly, adores attention, and is ready to make a connection with someone who will give him the chance to feel safe and loved again. He`s also a pretty good walking companion! He may pull a little on the leash, but he`s doing well overall, and he appears to be housebroken, too. Spot has already lost a home he thought was his forever. Now, he needs someone who understands that bringing a dog into your life is a commitment through the good times and the challenging ones. He just needs a family that will make room for him in their hearts and never give up on him. This precious boy deserves to unpack his bags for the very last time. Can you give Spot the loving home he`s been waiting for, where he`ll be cherished, included, and loved for the rest of his life? Let`s make sure his next chapter is the forever ending he`s always deserved.

Story
Meet Bently! A playful six-and-a-half-year-old American Pitbull Terrier currently in Clinton, NC, whose essence is a gentle burst of loyalty wrapped in a striking white coat with golden patches. Weighing about 55 pounds, this medium-sized boy carries himself with a sweet confidence that melts beautifully into those unforgettable eyes. Bently has grown into a devoted companion who knows how to balance fun with affection. Bently is wonderful with young children and happily plays with grandkids, soaking up every giggle and game of tug with his beloved pull rope! He lights up when someone invites him to play and will gladly trade a round of fun for a round of belly rubs. Cuddles are one of his specialties, and he leans in close to show just how affectionate he can be. Attention is truly his love language, and he thrives when surrounded by people who enjoy giving pets and praise. While he may feel a little shy in new environments at first, Bently warms up with patience and kindness. He knows “sit” and “come here,” and although he has not attended formal training classes, he would thrive with positive reinforcement and new learning opportunities. He enjoys roaming on leash during walks, taking in the world one curious sniff at a time. Bently was house-trained earlier in his life. However, after spending the past few years in his own outdoor space, it is unknown whether he remembers his indoor routines. With consistency, encouragement, and gentle guidance, he can relearn and adjust beautifully. He is neutral around other dogs and would need thoughtful introductions as he gets used to canine companions again. He has not spent time with cats recently and tends to keep his distance. Vaccinations are up to date, and he is ready for his next chapter with a new loving family who can offer a new loving environment filled with companionship and structure. Bently will be required to be neutered prior to placement in his new home. Could Bently be the loyal companion who joins your family’s next adventure? If you are ready to welcome this affectionate, playful boy into your life, please reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com! Content Notice: This pet is represented by Joyful Pets. Story
Meet Penny! A spirited almost five-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix currently in Asheville, NC, whose essence is a vibrant burst of joy wrapped in a beautiful brown brindle coat with white accents. She weighs about 41 pounds and fills every day with enthusiasm, affection, and a heart that wants nothing more than to stay close to her favorite people! Penny is the definition of a velcro dog, happily following her family from room to room, always ready to offer companionship, a wagging tail, or a cozy cuddle on the couch after an active day. Penny loves to jump, run, and eagerly greet people passing by the yard, making every walk and outdoor adventure feel exciting! Once she has stretched her legs, she is just as content relaxing nearby, proving she has both playful energy and a wonderfully affectionate side. She is house-trained, crate-trained, spayed, up to date on her vaccinations, and happily settles into her kennel at night or whenever her family is away. She also knows sit, stay, down, and kennel, and she enjoys car rides almost as much as spending time with her favorite humans. Penny thrives when she receives plenty of exercise, attention, and opportunities to share life with her people. She has never shown concerning behavior toward people and genuinely enjoys meeting new friends. Because she becomes so excited when greeting people and has a playful, energetic personality, she would do best with older children who can comfortably handle her enthusiastic welcomes and active nature. Very young children or toddlers could easily be knocked over by her excitement, even though her intentions are friendly and affectionate. Because of a past incident in which she bit the other resident dog during a stressful situation with a clear trigger, Penny needs a new loving home where she can be the only dog. While Penny generally does well with other dogs, this appears to have been an isolated reaction rather than an ongoing pattern, and she has remained calm under careful management since then. Her next family should be committed to providing thoughtful supervision and continuing to set her up for success in an only-dog environment. Her compatibility with cats has not been fully established. A single person or couple with an active lifestyle, a fenced yard, and plenty of time for companionship would give Penny the structure and attention she craves. In return, she will provide unwavering loyalty, endless affection, and countless joyful moments filled with tail wags and happy adventures! Could Penny be the loyal companion who has been waiting to share life's adventures with you? To learn more about welcoming Penny into your family, please contact adopt@joyfulpets.com. Story
Meet Lucky and Piper! A devoted pair of dogs in Ocala, FL, whose steady companionship is a quiet reminder that some friendships are simply meant to last a lifetime. Often found resting side by side, these loyal boys move through each day with a comforting rhythm, offering their future family twice the companionship and plenty of heart! Lucky is the devoted shadow dog of the duo, an eight-year-old American Pitbull Terrier mix weighing 55 pounds who wants nothing more than to be near his person. Once he trusts you, he gives you everything, sitting close with his tail wagging and his whole heart in his eyes. Lucky happily follows his person from room to room like a shadow. He knows sit, come, whistle recall, and shake, and thrives with positive reinforcement and treat-based learning. Lucky needs a securely fenced yard due to his strong prey drive and a home without cats, birds, or small animals. He would do well with a patient, experienced guardian, particularly a woman or female-led family, since he has naturally warmed to women in his life. Piper is the steady, gentle soul of the pair. A thirteen-year-old Hound mix weighing 68 pounds who moves through the world with a quiet ease that puts everyone around him at ease. Friendly with dogs, children, and people, Piper appreciates soft beds, predictable routines, and peaceful time with his favorite companions. He also manages dermatitis, which can cause itching and hot spots and may require special care. Both boys take medication to manage anxiety during severe weather and fireworks. They adapt well, enjoy twice-daily walks, and are good water dogs, adding opportunities for fun adventures together! Both are microchipped, current on parasite prevention, receive routine veterinary care, and are in great health. Lucky and Piper need a new loving home with a securely fenced yard, continued veterinary commitment, and a family who will honor their meaningful bond by keeping them together. Their loyalty, gentle companionship, and remarkable trust make this pair a joy to know! Could these two devoted companions be the pair ready to share your next chapter?
