Story
Allman is the definition of a Boxer, from his looks to his personality traits! This 7-year-old boy is always looking for opportunity to play, and loves making everything a game. He is a great ball player and may not always bring it back, but his enthusiasm keeps the game going. He enjoys carrying toys around wherever he goes, squeaky toys are super fun, but Kong toys are also wonderful. He also has a prankster side with shoes and likes to untie your laces when you are walking. He is loyal to his friends here at Satchel's but can be a bit picky. He takes a little time to get to know people and, although he is high energy, he prefers a calm first-time meeting. Allman has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and they are working on his acceptance of new people. Once accepted, Allman is a loving, playful, intelligent boy who can't wait to be with you. He walks very well on a leash and loves going on adventures. He knows his basic commands and with treats, he can do them with a swiftness. Allman would be the perfect canine companion for someone who loves being active or has a love for and understanding of the Boxer breed. He would do well with a fenced in yard, or multiple walks to get some of the energy down. For an appointment to meet Allman, please submit the adoption application (no-commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Story
*SPECIAL NEEDS - STRANGER DANGER* Darlin can be at little nervous around strangers or when people suddenly appear in her space but once you're her friend, she'll be your loving companion for life. She wiggles her entire body in delight when her people approach and can't wait to give them hugs and kisses. She enjoys running around in the yard playing with her toys and likes short leash walks. Darlin doesn't care to share her person and would be best in a home as the only 4-legged member. Darlin is estimated to be 13-years-old and weighs 50-55 lbs. For an appointment to meet Darlin, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will be in touch.

Story
Sweet Dusty Recently, we took in the sweetest obese boxer mix named Dusty. Sadly, Dusty and his siblings went to a "rescue in rural north Florida when they were just puppies and never left. It was organized hoarding and his entire life has been spent in a dark kennel After noticing his rapid weight gain and realizing the urgency, a volunteer drove 6 hours each way to get him. About a year ago, he was just 60-65lbs and he arrived here weighing a whopping 112.8lbs He looked like he was going to BURST. He was overfed cheap dog food, had very little exercise and his recent bloodwork revealed that he had hypothyroid and needed medication urgently. We are ecstatic to announce that in just a few weeks with us, Dusty has lost 11 POUNDS! After thyroid medication, good food and lots of play time, he prances around like he just got his bikini body back While we would love to keep Dusty with us, we feel he could go on to his forever home to continue his weight loss journey. His thyroid medication is only about $20 every 6 weeks. He doesn't need prescription food, but does need good quality dog food to continue to help him. He is great with dogs, cats and people and is a true gem. He currently weighs around 100lbs, but should get back to 65-70 one day. He is neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, heartworm negative and in Tampa. If you would like to adopt our sweet big boy, please complete an application. His adoption fee is $250. https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adoption-process

Story
*Foster home needed!* Sweet Stormy Our big, handsome boxer mix is looking for a home of his own, for the first time in his young life. Stormy came from North Florida where he was born in a "rescue facility" (along with his brothers Sonny & Dusty in L4P too) and forced to grow up there. He is surprisingly well socialized for not having seen the world. Stormy is a jolly guy. He's happy, personable and makes friends easy. He's big and strong on the leash, but such a nice dog. He doesn't require much, but his ideal home would have someone home more often than not. He likes companionship and to relax at home, but could also learn new things with his person. He is great with dogs of all sizes from small seniors to large playmates, both male and female. However, he isn't really into playing with other dogs. He's a great companion and would enjoy an easy going dog to coexist with or would be fine as your only dog. Stormy is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and heartworm negative. He is 6 years old (born January 2018), about 80lbs and currently in the Tampa area (spring hill). His adoption fee is $250. If you can give Stormy a forever home, please complete this application: https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adoption-process If you are interested in giving Stormy a foster home, please complete this application: https://www.love4pawsfl.org/foster *fosters must be in Tampa, Sarasota or in between.

Story
Sweet Sonny Sonny is one of our 3 boxer mix brothers that we just adore. They are sweet, harmless, big boys. Sonny is the smallest of the three brothers at about 65lbs and also the most reserved. He's such a sweet soul. The boys were born in North Florida at "rescue" facility and never allowed to be adopted out and leave. Sonny was born in January 2018 and has spent his entire 6 year life there. He came into our rescue in January and has since been working on coming out of his shell. We have learned that Sonny loves the backyard and gets happy zoomies out there. He has lived with all size dogs - small, medium and large - and currently lives with two cats. He is so submissive that the cats can stand next to him while he eats and he doesn't bat an eye. He's a gem. Sonny will need time to continue coming out of his shell and learning about the world. However, he's a great dog and an even better companion. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped and HW-. He is on inexpensive thyroid medication (about $20 for 6 weeks), but that may not be needed forever. He is in St. Petersburg and his adoption fee is $250. Story
Sami is a shy girl, has fearful moments, and craves to be by your side and get attention. She was not socialized well as a puppy and is scared of new situations and some people. She does well with other dogs but prefers smaller dogs, and will do best in a quiet home where she can gain confidence, learn to trust, and live a quiet life. Sami will be fine with smaller dogs, does not require a lot of outside stimulation or adventures. She will make a good companion for a single person or couple. A fenced yard is a must.  ##1101038##
