This dog is up to date on vaccinations and is spayed or neutered. (Please note: Puppies under 3 months old may not be sterilized prior to adoption. If this is the case, your adoption coordinator will provide guidance on the process.)   To adopt or learn more about this dog, you must complete an adoption application, which can be found on our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   PLEASE READ:     •    If a dog or puppy is listed, they are currently available for adoption. However, they may already be pending an adoption, and their profile may not yet reflect this.     •    All information is accurate to the best of our knowledge as of the posting date.     •    Unless explicitly stated, Sandy Paws Rescue does not guarantee the breed of any dog. Breeds listed are educated guesses made by shelter staff, volunteers, or veterinarians. Many of our dogs are mixed breeds, often with pit bull-type genetics, resulting in a wide variety of physical traits and temperaments.   Our dogs come from various situations, such as kill shelters, owner surrenders, or as strays. It is likely both parents were mixed breeds as well.   Sandy Paws Rescue does not have a public shelter in Massachusetts. Our dogs reside in private foster homes or boarding kennels in the South until adopted. Many dogs are spoken for prior to transport or release from state-mandated isolation.   For information on adoption fees, procedures, or FAQs, visit our website: www.sandypawsrescue.com.   The FIRST step in adopting from Sandy Paws Rescue is to submit a completed adoption application.   ##2610431##

Story
Odin is a 7 year old purebred boxer from a local breeder. We are looking for a home with no other dogs/cats - Odin does not get along with other dogs. Odin gets very excited when meeting new people, as most boxers do! But when he gets to know you he is very loving and cuddly! We have a toddler that he is very good with, but we do keep separated sometimes just because toddlers are very unpredictable and we don’t want Odin feeling uncomfortable. Odin would do very well in a house with older children. Odin also loves to play fetch with his balls and of course loves to go for walks! Odin is taking daily anxiety medication (Fluoxetine) which helps tremendously with his jumpiness. Odin has also been to formal training and does well with basic commands and on a leash

Story
Meet Basil!Sweet baby Basil is just a pup at only eleven months old. She's a sensitive gal which is understandable because coming to the shelter from a home can be a big, confusing transition and it can be overwhelming. Basil is a boxer/American bulldog mix and weighs about 60lbs.While it takes a minute or two to win her over, she immediately becomes a big goofy blockhead with all of the zoomies! She's genuinely just a big baby that needs all of the coddling, all of the reassurance, and all of the snuggles. She's a bouncy bean that is a big hammy ham for attention. She loves her walkies and loves rope/tug toys but can and will turn the rope toy into a dangerous weapon when she starts swinging it around like a medieval mace. She'll take you at the knees/ankles if you're not careful. Anyone remember the Skip-It and how it would smash your ankle bones? Yeah, like that.Basil is fantastic with other dogs and lights up like a Christmas tree when she sees them, especially big goofy male dogs. (She seems to have a type.) She's all play bows and zoomies trying to get them to chase her. She's afraid of cats because big dogs afraid of cats seems to be trending here lately. We are looking for an adult-only home (or teenagers and adults). Since she's a "restricted breed", you must own your own home or live in a home owned by a family member. To apply, visit foreverpaws.com and click adopt to download our application. Once complete, you can email it to us at fpas1@foreverpaws.com or fax it to us at 508-677-9175.

Story
Meet Nessie! A tender-hearted seven-and-a-half-year-old Boxer mix currently in East Lansing, MI, whose soulful eyes and velvety tan coat (with a white blaze down her chest) reflect a life spent longing for connection, calm, and comfort. At 55 pounds of snuggly sweetness, Nessie is what you'd call a professional cuddler! If there were an award for being a cozy couch companion, she'd win paws down. Her greatest joy? Stretching out beside you, resting her head close, and quietly soaking in the warmth of your presence. She’s house-trained, crate-savvy, and knows a whole vocabulary of helpful commands like “sit,” “come,” “leave it,” and “kennel up.” Whether she’s nibbling on a hard chew toy or curling into a donut shape in her crate (her personal sanctuary), Nessie lives for the simple pleasures of a peaceful, predictable life. Nessie experiences anxiety and has struggled with other dogs, especially sharing space with her canine sister. Over the years, the two have had occasional altercations that have been unpredictable. Despite years of dedicated management (including professional behavioral support, training, and carefully structured reintroductions) the tension between them never fully resolved. Because of this, Nessie needs a home that's quiet, adult-only, pet-free, and steady. A secure, fenced yard would be her dream! A space to sniff, explore, and sunbathe without encountering other dogs. She’s not a fan of thunderstorms and finds being left alone tough, but with loving companionship and a steady routine (meals twice a day, her cozy crate always accessible), she finds comfort. Nessie takes a small daily medication that supports bladder control while she sleeps. It’s fully managed, and she has no daytime accidents. What shines brightest in Nessie is her devotion. She doesn’t just want to be near her person, she needs to be. She’s the kind of dog who will press her head into your hand, lean into your side, and make you feel like the most important person in the world! Could your heart and home be the peaceful place this sweet girl needs to settle into the next chapter of her life? To learn more or meet Nessie, reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com!
