**IN FOSTER**Govida came to TJO as a very nervous stray, but once she settled in and became more comfortable, she proved just how much energy she had! She can still be nervous when meeting new people, but given time she can warm up quick. She loves to jump, and can reach some pretty impressive heights, so a tall fence is a must for anyone looking to meet her! OTHER PETS:Godiva is enthusiastic and overexcited when meeting other dogs. This energy can be a bit much for most dogs. She does well in play groups with other dogs but we anticipate she would do best as an only pet. NO CATS [Should Be Only Pet]OWNER EXPERIENCE:Godiva would do best with someone who has experience handling large, energetic dogs with positive reinforcement, as she does pull strongly on the leash and can get overexcited. [Experienced]KIDS: Because Godiva is a strong dog that doesn't quite understand boundaries yet, she would do best in a home without any kids. She's jumpy and can get overexcited easily, and she's uncomfortable with some types of handling, so an adult with experience and confidence in handling would be best for her. [Adults Only]ACTIVITY LEVEL:Godiva is a lot of dog with a lot of energy. In a home environment, she would do best with daily walks and various forms of mental enrichment to keep her mind and body busy. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE:[Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED:While Godiva does seem to know `sit` and `paw,` she is still at the beginning of her positive training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and confidence while she adjusts. Positive reinforcement training will help Godiva not only learn her basic cues but also help her to feel more comfortable and confident in herself! It will provide a good opportunity for her to bond with her new owner as well! [Intense]GROOMING:[Minimal]November 5, 2024, 6:44 pm

Story
**IN FOSTER**OTHER PETS: Sadie is eager to meet other dogs and is relaxed while she is around them, she would likely get along with other dogs of a similar temperament and size - to ensure a good match Sadie should meet any dogs she would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] NO SMALL DOGS OR CATSOWNER EXPERIENCE: Sadie will need support from her new owner as she settles in, she typically is not overstimulated but does become so at times, and someone who has not dealt with an overstimulated dog could be overwhelmed by the difference in behavior. Someone who will be a calm anchor to help Sadie recenter herself with while overstimulated would be her best fit. [Some Experience] KIDS: Sadie is a friendly girl who also tends to jump and get mouthy when excited. High pitched noises, flailing hands, and sudden movements can easily excite dogs or elevate already excited dogs even higher - a teen who has experience with dogs or a teen able to understand why such actions need to be avoided around Sadie would be her best fit. [13+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Sadie pulls a little but typically does well on leash and enjoys her walks, ensuring she gets a chance to explore her neighborhood daily, as well as mental enrichment, will help Sadie get the physical and mental stimulation she needs. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Sadie bond with her new owner as well as help her learn basic cues. Sadie is a sweet girl who sometimes becomes overstimulated and snappy in the kennel, it is important to remember that redirection to a positive behavior and reward for said positive behavior will be key to helping Sadie handle overstimulation - but her new owner will also be responsible for learning what leads to overstimulation as well as finding creative ways to eliminate/avoid the causes. Story
Marley came to TJO quite itchy and nervous, but opened up quickly to staff and soon enjoyed all the butt scratches she could handle. Her favorite toy is tennis balls; she enjoys collecting them, fetching them, chewing on them, and sometimes tearing them open. Do you have room for a loveable tennis ball dragon?OTHER PETS: Marley was not interested in meeting hyper dogs, and gets grumpy with other dogs in playgroup if they play too roughly (even if not with her); Marley would do best as an only dog although she enjoys socializing with low energy dogs outside of the home. [Should Be Only Pet] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Marley is going to need time, compassion, and understanding while she settles in - it may take longer than usual for her to begin to settle in and open up. Someone with experience would be able to support Marley with a minimal learning curve. [Some Experience] KIDS: Marley can be intense with her food and takes time to warm up to people; she needs to live with humans who will not mess with her food bowls and understand she may take time to become affectionate with them - Marley is nervous around strangers and will growl at them. [15+ (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Marley walks well on a leash and enjoys spending time outside, she enjoys fetch and other toy involved play with humans and does not get overly excited. Marley would do best with daily walks and some quality playtime. [Good Walking Buddy] VETERINARY CARE: Marley arrived with some very itchy, scabby, skin. She had received vet care and is now back to 100%. A good relationship with a vet will ensure that Marley ages gracefully. [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Marley bond with her new owner as well as help her learn important skills. Story
Karma is an outgoing, high energy girl who enjoys playing with people and has been known to bop humans with her toys from time to time. She is very people oriented, but still needs help channeling her excitement and will need the support of her humans to tackle the fun challenge of positive reinforcement training.OTHER PETS: Karma has a very active prey drive, she should not live with small dogs or cats. She can be pushy with other dogs so she should meet any dog she may be living with to ensure a good match.[Case-By-Case *NO SMALL DOGS NO CATS* (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Someone who has experience with athletic, high energy dogs would be a good fit for Karma.[Some Experience] KIDS: Karma is jumpy, sometimes muzzle punches (booping with her nose), and is uncomfortable with some handling. Karma's best fit would be in a home with adults and older teens only. [15+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Karma has a lot of energy and will need appropriate ways to channel it to ensure she does not amuse herself at her owner's belongings expense. Multiple or longer daily walks would be a great idea, and supervised outdoor playtime will give Karma the chance to roll around and be a goofy wiggle butt. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Karma bond with her new owner as well as help her learn important skills. Karma may be able to work on reducing her prey drive if her owner seeks the assistance of a qualified Veterinary Behavorist. [Moderate] GROOMING: [Minimal]November 20, 2024, 6:47 pm

Story
Mister is an outgoing pup who came to TJO with his big sister, while they did a great job supporting each other during their scary time on the streets they are ready to chase their dreams independently now. OTHER PETS: Mister defers to dogs larger than him but he can be pushy with dogs who are smaller. His best fit would be with a confident, tolerant dog who could model appropriate ways of interacting with other dogs. [Likely (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: [First Dog] KIDS: Mister is a friendly pup who has already figured out how to trade toys and sit. He plays gently (for a puppy) and would likely do well with smaller humans - as with all our dogs Mister should meet any minor humans he would be living with prior to adoption. [Likely (Must Meet First)] ACTIVITY LEVEL: Mister is an older puppy who is bringing his enthusiam to everything from meeting people to trying new toys. Daily walks and regular mental enrichment would provide exercise for the body and mind as he explores the environment; he may enjoy participating in dog sports once he learns how, and many dog enjoy accompanying their humans on outdoor activities as well. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Mister bond with his new owner and build self confidence, as well as help him learn important cues and skills. Participation in activities such as hiking with humans or engaging in dog sports would require additional guidance and positive reinforcement training while providing further enrichment and bonding opportunities. Story
Misses is a playful dog who gets very excited when greeting her favorite people. She can be a little nervous at first with new people, but she warms up quickly. She is a jumper, and can be a bit mouthy when she's excited or uncomfortable, but she's quite gentle with it. She loves to play with toys, and loves getting attention!OTHER PETS: Although Misses invited play with another dog, she can come on a bit strong and get overexcited, which could potentially cause a fight with the wrong dog. She would likely do best with a tolerant dog who can match her play style. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Misses would do best with someone who is familiar with dogs and understands their mannerisms. She can be jumpy and mouthy, and while it's not malicious, someone who is inexperienced may be more uncomfortable with these behaviors. [Some Experience]KIDS: Misses can be jumpy and mouthy when she gets excited, and while she is gentle she could certainly knock over a younger kid by accident. She is also uncomfortable with some types of handling, so she would do best with kids who are old enough to understand when to let her have her own space and how to interact with her. [12+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Misses is an active dog that would do well with various forms of both physical and mental enrichment, to ensure that she stays happy and doesn't make her own entertainment. With further positive reinforcement training, she could also be a good candidate for more adventurous activities like hiking or dog sports. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Misses is still at the beginning of her positive reinforcement training journey, and will do best learning with someone who can offer both patience and confidence while she adjusts. Story
Waffles has never destroyed anything in the house and loves her crate. She's clear to communicate when she needs to go outside and when she's had enough attention. She enjoys some physical affection but isn't cuddly or clingy. She's medium-energy so a game, a car ride, and a walk every day is plenty. When we rescued her, she was recovering from mange. We've managed to get her allergies/skin under control with a daily pill and monthly injection, but she's still prone to UTIs and ear infections. She needs regular maintenance but doesn't like being handled, but she is food motivated. She has arthritis, so her mobility is an issue. She wasn't socialized when we got her and haven't been able to help her dog reactivity and her territoriality. When we rescued her, the shelter specified she needed to be the only pet in the house. She hasn't bitten anyone but does bark/lunge at anyone we bring in the house and won't calm down, even when with baby gates or sequestering her completely.

Story
Ghost was found abandoned in a city park in Little Rock, AR. The good Samaritan who found him contacted our organization for help. That was about one month ago. During the past month we have been getting Ghost vaccinated against rabies, given a couple of rounds of puppy shots for parvo/distemper, de-wormed, placed on a heart worm prevention, and he is scheduled to be neutered and microchipped this week. This adorable boy appears to be between 5-6 months old and will grow to be quite muscular as he already is pretty stout. Ghost is fun-loving, has an enormous zest for life, adventurous, playful with the other dogs in the rescue, and loves people. His appetite is ravenous, but as a growing boy pup, it's to be expected. He would do best in a household that allows time to train him. He's crate trained and working on potty training. He needs consistentcy for continued success. We prefer he go to a home with older children and dog savvy adults.  Currently Ghost is in Arkansas, but he has access to New England via groun transport. His adoption fee is $600 and this includes the cost for transport.   If you have a loving stable environment for Ghost and see yourself committed to raising a silly, handsome, full of love pup then he's your boy!  ##2219548##
