Story
Honey is a total sweetheart who lives up to her name in every way. She is incredibly friendly and affectionate with everyone she meets and absolutely lives for human attention. This girl is a certified cuddle bug—she loves curling up on the couch, rolling around, and making sure she gets all the pets she's craving. Honey is young, energetic, and playful, and she’d love an active home that can keep up with her fun-loving spirit. She’s lived successfully with a cat and with teenagers, showing that she can fit right in with a variety of family dynamics. Honey has also had positive experiences with other dogs in the past, but she will need a meet-and-greet with any resident dogs to make sure everyone is a good match. She’s housebroken and already knows a few basic cues like sit and paw. Honey is very food-motivated, which makes her a great candidate for continued training—treats are definitely the way to her heart! While toys aren’t her top priority, she more than makes up for it with her love of people and affection! Come down to meet her today! Ready to Adopt? You have two options: #1- VISIT IN PERSON Come during our open adoption hours: Tuesday - Saturday,12:30 - 3:00pm. You’ll be able to meet available dogs in the shelter. Story
Gerdie is a super sweet older girl who still has a good amount of spunk! She absolutely loves to play, though she's still working on bringing toys back to continue the game of fetch. Her favorites so far seem to be squeaky toys and balls, though she's open to new options.OTHER PETS: Gerdie was relaxed when meeting another dog, but she didn't show a lot of interest in playing. She would likely do best with another relaxed dog that can understand when to let her have her own space in the home. [Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)]OWNER EXPERIENCE: Gerdie is prone to pulling on the leash when she's excited, and as a bigger dog will do best with someone that can be capable of handling her, as well as experience with positive reinforcement or the willingness to learn. [First Dog]KIDS: Gerdie is tolerant of handling and hasn't shown any signs of resource guarding during her time at TJO, but she is an older lady and doesn't always appreciate feeling restrained or confined. She would do best with kids that are old enough to understand how to interact with her and when to let her have her own space. [10+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: While Gerdie appreciates a good long nap on the couch as much as anybody, she loves going on walks and playing with a variety of toys. She would be a great walking buddy for trips around the block, and will thrive with various types of mental enrichment to fully meet her needs. [Good Walking Buddy]VETERINARY CARE: While Gerdie currently needs to work on losing a few pounds, she is otherwise currently in good health. As an older dog, she will need a good relationship with a vet to ensure that she continues to age gracefully into her golden years and remains comfortable. [Routine]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: While Gerdie already seems to know a few tricks, positive reinforcement training will help Gerdie to brush up on her basic cues & skills, as well as help her bond with her new owner. [Minimal]GROOMING: Routine brushing will help to minimize shedding in the home. [Minimal]January 27, 2026, 5:08 pm

Story
Johnny was very happy that some kind human let TJO know that he needed help, and he was very thankful that the animal control officers had a nice warm vehicle for him to ride in on the way to safety. Once he had a comfy bed, a full belly, and some butt scratches he was ready to show everyone how goofy and loveable he can be. OTHER PETS: Johnny was disinterested in similarly sized dogs and has a high prey drive so he would not be a good fit to live with cats or small dogs. He would prefer to be an only dog but would be open to meeting a relaxed dog with a similar `live and let live` attitude. [Case by Case (No Cats or Small Dogs!)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Johnny currently does not walk very well on a leash; his best fit would be with someone with experience with positive reinforcement (or willingness to learn) to teach new skills, and a guardian who is strong enough to keep him safe. [Some Experience] KIDS: Johnny is a social, outgoing dog who enjoys interacting with humans and playing with toys. He has not engaged in resource-guarding while at TJO, and would likely get along with most humans. While Johnny is friendly, he may not be a good match for small humans who might get knocked over by his enthusiastic wiggles. Any minors who would be living with him should meet Johnny prior to adoption. [10+ / Dog Savvy (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Johnny will need a good blend of exercise and playtime combined with mental enrichment such as puzzle toys and games to fully meet his needs. [Good Walking Buddy / Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal]LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement training will help Johnny bond with his new owner while learning new skills and fun tricks. Johnny is a strong puller while walking on the leash and will need support and positive reinforcement to help him learn loose leash skills. [Moderate]January 28, 2026, 4:05 pm

Story
Pokey is a happy boy who enjoys playing with toys, engaging with humans, and trying to be friends with other dogs. He reads body langage well and settles well with other dogs but will need support as he learns how to interact just as appropriately with humans.OTHER PETS: Pokey can get overly aroused when meeting other dogs, but reads the body language of other dogs well and settles. This might be off putting to some dogs and they might not feel comfortable with Pokey even when he does settle. Pokey's best fit would be with a tolerant, well socialized dog who communicates well and provides feedback to playmates; he should meet any dog he would be living with prior to adoption.[Case-By-Case (Must Meet First)] OWNER EXPERIENCE: Pokey is still working on his leash walking skills and is a strong dog in general, he would be best suited to someone who has experience with positive reinforcement and interacting with strong dogs. [Some Experience] KIDS: Pokey has not engaged in resource guarding while at TJO (he is intense with food and we utilize a slow feeder during mealtimes) and is comfortable with handling. He is playful with toys and has lots of energy. Pokey would do best with humans who would be able to teach him alternatives for connecting with humans other than jumping. As with all our adoptable dogs, Pokey should meet any minor humans he would be living with prior to adoption. [12+ (Must Meet First)]ACTIVITY LEVEL: Pokey has a lot of energy and enjoys running around outside as well as playing with toys. He is a curioius dog as well and enjoys exploring, but he does get aroused and will need the support of a patient owner, some positive reinforcement, and an active household to keep him engaged. Regular exercise and plenty of mental enrichment such as food toys and puzzles will help meet his needs, and go a long way in addressing over-arousal. [Olympic Athlete]VETERINARY CARE: [Routine] GROOMING: [Minimal] LEVEL OF TRAINING NEEDED: Positive reinforcement will help Pokey bond with his new owner and build confidence, while learning life skills and new tricks. Not good with kids, Not good with dogs, Good with cats, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
Adoption fee low due to Indo’s shots not being up to date for this year. She has had previous shots. Indo is a wonderful pup, she is full of energy and is very loyal and protective to her owner. Unfortunately indo is not house trained, while attempting bathroom training outside I was bit by another dog that lives in the upstairs living space of my housing. Indo was bit in this incident as well so I am unsure of how she will get along with other dogs. Indo does love cats and may need to be trained on behavior around cats due to her excitement to play with them. Indo is very easy to train and knows common commands such as sit, wait, down, and to give paw. She loves to go on walks as well as run freely in enclosed spaces. I have been unable to give her this luxury lately due to my fear of us getting but again as well as my schedule becoming more busy. She is an amazing, silly, loving dog and deserves somebody who will give her their time and patience.

Story
Bella was adopted from a shelter. We have had Bella for about a year and a half. She is about 3yrs old. She lived with dogs when she was being fostered. She will bark at dogs on walks but is able to be walked if you give her treats. She knows her commands. House and crate trained. Loves to cuddle on the couch or in bed. Gets silly zoomies. Gives kisses. She will eat non food things if they smell like food or had food in them ( such as eating the bag the food is in ). You must keep things safely away from her. She is wonderful with my husband and me and other adults but not comfortable around our children. She does not enjoy being touched by children. She has bitten (nipped as there were no injuries) my youngest child twice in the face when she tried to kiss her. She had growled at my oldest child once when she pet her. She needs a home where she is the only dog and where she will not be around children. She is so sweet and loving but just isn't comfortable with kids.
