Story
Galahad is a big goofy boxer/rottweiler mix who's had it rough. He has been bounced around quite a bit and has lived alone in horrible conditions for the last few months. He is understandably overwhelmed right now but he's settling in quickly! He loves other dogs and is very gentle but doesn't have a clue how to play. He tries really hard though! He's a sweet guy who loves to lean in close and is very gentle when he does jump up to say hello (he's pretty good about keeping his feet on the floor). He would love a home with someone looking for a loyal friend to snuggle with!

Story
Gender: Male Age: 2 years (aprrox.) Breed/Color: Boxer-Brindle Location: Howell, MI This is Barley, he had a fairly rough start to life but we like to stick in the present! Barley came to his foster extremely malnourished and has since put on a healthy amount of weight. With that weight he has gained a ton of energy! He is going to be that adorable compact Boxer, weighing only about 50lbs max. Barley will be a great fit for an active home, he loves to work and his fosters are sponsoring his training! He is crate trained, does well at the vet and groomers and overall is just such a love bug! Has done well with dogs, kids and cats. He came in not housebroken, but is 99% there already! To adopt an animal from our sanctuary, the first step is to submit an application. *Please note we adopt within the state of MICHIGAN ONLY* The process takes a few weeks. It involves vet and personal reference checks and interview of applicant. There are no exceptions … Please remember that we are all volunteers and it may take a week or so after we receive your application to be contacted. Sometimes several people may be interested in the same pet, so please remember that not every animal is right for every home. To ensure a healthy and happy placement for our pets and their new families, we take the time to evaluate each animal’s temperament and try to match the right animal to the right family. OUR ADOPTION GUIDELINES All fees are subject to change without notice. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee the animal will be adopted to you. We do not work on a first come first serve basis. We collect applications and make our best determination on where we think the animal would thrive the best. We have the right to deny any applicant without explanation, and the decision is final. Very rarely do we get written documentation of an animal’s age and breed. We do not guarantee these, we work with professionals to help make the best determination. All of our foster homes follow a 30 Day Stay policy and do not make ANY exceptions. This policy requires every animal who comes into foster care, to stay in foster care for a minimum of 30 day before going to their forever home. Make sure you let us know you saw Bruno on Adopt-a-pet.*In a foster home, call for meet/greet* Talk about a lug head, this big guy was found as a stray by a vet tech who tried to find his owner. With no luck he ended up at the shelter. Bruno quickly showed us what a ham he is, he's quite the crooner too! Bruno does bark to get your attention and when he's excited. This smart pup knows sit, shake, down, he comes when called, enjoys walks (he's strong), loves to romp around the yard, loves to "fish" out of the pool, and has done well with the canine friends he's met, he will not share toys and shows some possessiveness of them. Bruno is a big boy, with a big heart, he loves everyone. We say no small children due to his size and tendency to chew up toys. If you've been looking for a a big pup that doesn't require a lot of work make sure to visit with Bruno Mars!

Story
Much like Anakin Skywalker, the force is strong with me. For real....I am a beefcake! Don't worry, I have not gone to the dark side, a lot of my beefcakiness is put to use holding my bed down. But anyone who is foolish enough to underestimate my strength and challenge me to a tug game will get a taste of the true chosen one! I am a fun-loving good boy; but it is fair to say there is a bit of puppy escapade inside me at times. Practicing the righteous ways of the Jedi has been an amazing pastime for me to keep me on the light side. I love going for walks through the galaxy (really, it's been the scenic grounds at MAS, but a guy can dream right?). With continued Padawan training from an Obi-Wan Kenobi of my own, we can harness the force to positive outlets for me! Which honestly, I am so treat and reward motivated that with consistency, I am sure I could be a Jedi in no time! I am a fairly sociable guy, I have made some canine friends here at MAS, and when I met a cat I was more interested in playing with my rope toy than befriending it. "The biggest problem in the universe is no one helps each other." - Anakin (Star Wars: The Phantom Menace) If you would like to help Anakin by giving him a forever home, submit your adoption application to the website below! DOB: 3/2/2022 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Story
At Christmas time, holiday tinsel is one of the best ways to spruce up your home with some cheer and festivity; but wouldn't it be great to have some of that same tinsel cheer for the whole year? I'm pretty sure that's where I got the name, because that's exactly what I do! I think it's pretty safe to say we all love the gifting aspect of the holiday season, and I am no exception. As you can see from the video, I love toys! Personally, my favorite aspect of every day, is quality time spent together. I am full of that "in front of the fireplace" warmth that is the highlight of the season...or really any season. Snuggling in the laps of all my friends, giving kisses, joy, and laughs every day of the year would be a dream come true! While I can appreciate some kitty-time snuggles, I am much more apt to be in my person's lap cuddling, but I am happy to share a home with a feline friend. I would be happiest in a home with older children that can handle my occasional puppy-like playstyle (that...and I can be a little vocal and pushy about my need for attention sometimes). I would love to have a doggy playmate, but I do need proper introductions with dogs, as I am dog selective. Being dog selective means that I have made several canine friends, but much like humans, I don't care to be friends with every dog I meet. Any potential fur siblings will get the chance to meet me for a play date before I go home, to make sure we get along as well as ribbons and bows! If you would like a little bit of every-day Christmas magic in your home, submit an adoption application to the website below, and I promise to decorate your heart and home with all my love! DOB: 2/6/2020 For safety's sake, we are looking for homes with physical fenced in areas. Please fill out our online adoption survey at www.mackenzies.info/adopt/adoption-survey-application/

Spayed or Neutered,
Story
Mysis is a cute little teenage pittie mix (possibly some lab or some whippet in there?) who came to us as a stray. He's a smaller guy which makes him perfect for families who want a "big" dog but don't have a lot of room. He's sweet as can be and plays well with other dogs. He knows he has a couple strikes against him. He's not only a pit bull mix, but he's also mostly black in color and that makes it even harder to get adopted but he's hoping his special person finds him soon!

Story
Seret is a worried little pittie mix who was brought to the shelter after being found running in traffic. She is sweet as can be but still easily frightened. She becomes a much more confident girl around another dog and would benefit from a confident friend in her new home. She is doing better every day and she would love to get out of here and into a home where she can continue to bloom!

Story
Cador came to the shelter with his older brother Cian when their owner could no longer care for them. They were very scared when they first arrived, but have slowly been opening up and showing us the fun-loving boys they truly are. Cador is all go go go! He is a bouncy, fun-loving guy who doesn't let life (or people's legs, for that matter) get in his way! He could use a few lessons in basic manners, but will make a great pet for someone willing to invest a little bit of time and work.
