Story
Bubbles is a beautiful spayed female Boxer Mix She just graduated for our Path To Home Program with involves obedience training for 8 weeks. Bubbles is housebroken, crate trained and good with other dogs. She LOVES to play ball and would probably do it all day if she could. Bubbles is a very affectionate dog with a sweet personality. She is back and forth between the Shelter and Orleans Correctional Facility, so drop us an email if you would like to meet her. Volunteers For Animals and Orleans Correctional Facility have developed a Dog Training & Fostering Program within the prison that will provide socialization and basic obedience training for the dogs before being adopted. Volunteers For Animals will be pulling dogs from high kill shelters and locally who may be in need of behavioral support to become more adoptable. The dogs will then be transported to Orleans Correctional Facility where they will live with selected inmates who will care for them 24 hours per day for approximately 8 weeks. Each dog will have a crate, bedding, leash, collar, training treats, and food provided by Volunteers For Animals. A certified dog trainer will provide weekly training classes for the dogs and the inmates. The inmates will then work daily to reinforce the formal training with the dogs. Adoption Procedures The adoption process includes an application that is completed by the potential owner. If there are multiple applications on the same animal, the animal will go to the best home for that particular animal - not necessarily the first application. Fees for the Path Home animals are $200 per animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. All of the dogs are current on vaccines, heart worm tested and spayed/neutered. If you would like to be considered for any of the Path to Home dogs, please email us. Please do not call the Shelter regarding Path Home animals - they do not have any information. Email us at info@vol4animals.org regarding this program.  Here is the adoption process:   To adopt an animal you must complete an application and be approved. There is a $60 fee for any animal which needs to be cash or a check - NO CREDIT CARDS. If the animal is not spayed or neutered, there is a $35 deposit which will be returned upon proof of surgery. All dogs must be licensed before leaving the Shelter. Please note that public offices that issue dog licenses are not open on Saturdays and Sundays. All cats must leave in a carrier.   Thank you for considering a homeless animal.January 17, 2025, 4:32 pm

Story
Meet Max!!! He is a 1 year old boxer mix who is very very special because as you can see, he kind of has a crooked snout, which makes him even more adorable. The vet said he may have had an old injury but it does not hinder him nor hamper his breathing in any way and it just makes him so special and one of a kind! ❤️ The Volunteers have totally fallen in love with Max and he knows sit, gives paw and likes to play fetch. And don't you just love his helicopter ears!! If you may be interested in adding Max to your family, here is a link to our application that you can print out, complete and email (ocadoptions@aol.com) or text (585-752-2588) back to us as a jpg. http://www.friendsoftheocas.org/uploads/3/4/7/0/34700641/interest_application.pdf Send us a text if you have any questions.

Story
Meet Jax! He’s a 1.5 yo intact boxer. He is the sweetest dog you’ll ever meet! And a couch potato! He is great with other dogs, cats, and children! He is good on the leash. He would love a fenced in yard so he can run, someone who will take him on a lot of car rides (they’re his favorite!) and who will save him a spot on the couch! He’s up for adoption due to owner being mandated to travel for work. We can’t say anything bad about him, come meet him and he’ll steal your heart! And maybe your potato chips!
