HERE IN CANADA COME MEET HIM! Name: Bronco (20220315-04) Weight: 70lbs Age: 4 years Gender: male Spayed/neutered: yes Breed: boxer mix Color: White/tan Collar size: Large Harness: Large Height: Length: Crate size: 36 Good with women: yes Good with men: yes Good with kids: yes, but older kids as he is still working on manners, and tends to jump/mouth in excitement, not realizing how big he is Good with dogs: no, but with slow and correct introductions he will be Good with cats: unknown House trained: yes Crate trained: yes Energy level: medium Can be handled and touched: yes Barker: moderate, when unknown people come up to the house, or into the house and he can’t see them Flight risk: yes Food aggressive: no Current food: Walks well on a leash: yes, with harness to stop pulling Leash reactive to people or dogs: moderate, reacts to more prominent stimulus (barking dogs, loud people, small animals animals) but is easily refocused and continues on his walk. Rides in car well: moderate - loves the car, but is very curious Destructive: no Needs a home with a yard: yes Needs a home with another dog: no Can live in an apartment: no Foster Comments Bronco has been an absolute delight since I brought him home from boarding. He is the most affectionate boy and always wants to be near his humans. Bronco is eager to show you how much he loves you but sometimes he forgets he is such a big boy, and would therefore be best suited for a home with older kids, due to jumping and some mouthing. This behaviour tends to wear off after Bronco is comfortable with you, and the corrections have been made several times, however when needing attention the behaviour continues but is improving as we work on manners. Around the home Bronco is wonderful, and spends a lot of his day sleeping or window watching as he loves being outside. He is still learning some manners and will jump on furniture and counters when looking for attention but can easily be re-directed. During walks, Bronco is very curious but walks very well on a leash. He does exhibit a love for smaller animals, and is still learning to ignore them. He is still getting used to other dogs, and does not show aggression but rather uncertainty. Bronco has shown great improvement with calmer dogs, but tends to become more alert when dogs bark at him, or appear to come toward him. Bronco is such a good boy, and would spend all day sitting in your lap getting scratches and cuddles. He forgets he is so big sometimes and is very eager to show affection so patience and consistency is key with him, but he shows such great potential, and would make a great addition to a home with older kids and an active lifestyle or the ability to burn off extra energy.

Story
Name: Bella (20230115-04) Age: 9-10 years Weight: 40lbs Gender: female Spayed/Neutered: yes Breed: Boxer mix Color: black and white Neck size (for collar): 16” Chest circumference (harness):8.5” Height (from top of head): 27” Length (from nose to base of tail): 29” Crate size recommended: medium/large Good with women: yes Good with men: yes Good with kids: Yes, loves kids. Even though she is a senior she is a ball of energy and could knock a child over when playing so no toddlers! Good with other dogs: Yes, but can be dominant & wants to be the boss Good with cats: yes, would need supervision due to her size and energy level though House trained: partially Crate trained: yes Energy level: medium/high Can be handled/touched: yes Barker: no Flight risk: possibly - all dogs should be leashed and supervised until a bond is formed Food aggressive: no Current food: dry donated kibble Walks on leash: yes Leash reactive to people or dogs: no Rides well in car: yes Destructive: no, but needs sturdy toys Needs a home with a yard: yes Needs a home with another dog: no Can live in an apartment: no Backstory: Bella is our oldest dog resident in the shelter: she’s Estimated to be around 9-10yrs old and was very malnourished weighing only 40lbs when she got here. You could count each bone in her body, and she was claimed to be a stray that the people who brought her in found and didn’t want. They refused to tell us where she was picked up other than a road in east point. Since she’s been here she has gained 8-10lbs (she’s hyper and hard to weigh lol). Bella is a boss lady and can be dominant toward other female dog, so she would do best with male dogs or as an only dog. She does great with kids, would love to run and play all day and was very gentle but due to her size kids in the home would need to be older and sturdy because she’s a ball of energy. We also tested her with cats and she showed no interest at all, gave them a sniff and walked away. Bell loves going on walks/runs, she loves to have free time outside In the play yard and she’s very treat and food motivated. She absolutely loves balls and would play with them all day if she could. She carries around her ball in her mouth every she goes like a puppy! Remember, Bell is a boxer mix breed and is already a senior (although she thinks she’s a puppy) so she really just needs a loving retirement home where she can live out her golden years surrounded by love and comfort

He is a sweet boy who likes to play with every dog he meets and likes to cuddle beside his foster mom and take naps. He is not aggressive, but will take and eat anything he can access. He is mostly house trained and is fully crate trained. He is working on his basic commands too. Gordy will need a patient, experienced owner who is willing to seek out professional training for him, if needed.

Story
Kush is a big lovebug that adores everyone he meets. He has grown to be a favourite among some of our walkers, with his kind and gentle nature. He gets along with every person that he meets and is eager to please (for treats of course). Kush is very active on his walks and is always excited to see his favourite dog walker, Papa Terry. He knows that his walks will always end up with him getting a special treat from Timmie's, and he just looooooves his Timbits. Kush is a special boy that deserves the love and attention that all dogs yearn for. He is particularly keen on attention from his people, as he can be dog selective. He has displayed positive interactions with some of our other canine friends at the shelter, and then shown discomfort/agitation with others. If a potential adopter has another dog, we will require a few successful playdates with them and Kush before he can be placed in the home. If you would like to meet this sweet boy, come visit him at the Welland site!
