Story
This gorgeous girl is Etsy! She's a young smaller sized kitten that is absolutely beautiful! Etsy was part of a group of cats trapped after living outside. She was brought to a shelter and adopted out as a barn cat. After a few days in the barn, Etsy decided she loved people and followed her humans around so they knew she was meant for the life of luxury as an indoor only companion. Etsy is a little shy at first but once she knows you're friends, she will rub her face on your hands, walk on your lap, walk on your back and make biscuits. She's overall a very affectionate kitten that balances when she wants attention and when it's time to play. She's really coming into her personality, will talk to you, and is just a friendly fluff. She also does not have volume control when it comes to purring. Full purr all the time. Etsy is also great with cats and loves to play with her 4 legged siblings. She shares her toys, loves playing chase, and is even friends with the pups in the home. Basically, she makes friends with everyone she meets so Etsy would love a home with someone available to give her plenty of attention and a bed by a window. She LOVES looking outside when she's not busy trying to get you to pet her. If you're interested in adding Etsy to your family, please let us know using this link: dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form. ============================================================================ If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at http://www.dixiegirldogrescue.org/adopt-form Our rescue are fostered in Alabama foster homes and are posted for adoption once they are completely vetted and ready to travel. Story
Aspasia has easily the worst luck of the draw, due to no fault of her own.  It seems whenever she felt she found a home  something would happen.  She would have a home for an incredibly short time before the owners would give her up.  She's had a new baby cause her to be surrendered; a family's divorce caused her to be relocated.  It has not been her luck.  However, this optimistic girl thinks it's about to turn around for the better!  Aspasia is really a winner in all aspects.  Her beautiful coat is incredibly alluring, and she absolutely loves to have it brushed! Her loving personality makes her one of the sweetest cats in her foster home.  Above all else, she is an absolute human lover!  Sure, she will get along with other calm cats, but humans?  Please!  They take the cake!  She will sit with you for hours on end, all because she wants to spend time with you!  How bad does she love people?  Let's just say that her foster has been having a hard time getting pictures of her because, as soon as Aspasia sees them, she INSISTS that you must pet her! Aspasia's adoption donation is currently $90 but will rise on 11/1/2023.* The adoption donation includes age-appropriate vaccines, dewormer, flea treatment, Felv/FIV testing, microchip, and spay. If you would like more information on Aspasia, please contact Lisa at lovingcarecatrescue@gmail.com. If you would like to fill out an online application, please visit https://alovingcarecatrescue.org/adoptionapplicationonline.html Please note:  LCCR does not allow our adopted cats and kittens to be declawed.  All adopted kitties are to be kept as indoor-only pets. *LCCR will be increasing our adoption rates starting 11/1/2023 due to the rising costs of medications and surgeries.  If you are interested in adopting this kitty, please fill out the online application at https://alovingcarecatrescue.org/adoptionapplication.html December 2, 2023, 5:02 pm

Story
Camden is a special girl. Her favorite things are laying in sunbeams, getting pets, and eating dry cat food. She gets along fabulously with other cats, dogs, and older kids. Camden has bursts of energy where she will play, but she mostly likes to curl up somewhere soft and warm and get love. She even has a beauty mark like Cindy Crawford. Camden has chronic rhinitis which means she always sounds congested. Once in a while she may need antibiotics to get her through a cold. She also needs prednisone every other day but takes pills like a champ. She is FIV positive but would not hurt another cat, so there is no worry. Please consider opening your heart and home to this silly, sweet, and charming girl so she can have what she never has had: a home. Due to her health conditions, Camden's adoption fee will be lowered for the right adopter. We really want this girl to find her forever family.  December 2, 2023, 5:24 pm

Story
Jingles is a beautiful calico girl. She is about 4 to 5 months old, spayed and up to date on vaccines. Jingles and her three siblings had a happy home until their pet parents fell on hard times and lost their home. The kittens were then forced to live in a shed. They were well taken care of by a neighbor who watched over and made sure they were fed. The person helping them called 22 rescues trying to get help. Heavenly Paws was the 23rd call she made. How could we say "no". So, a foster found some room for them. Jingles is sweet and doesn't mind being cuddled. She has a friendly and mellow personality. She is also playful and loves to play with her littermates. Jingles would quickly adjust to any home. If you are interested in meeting Jingles, please complete an adoption application. Story
TABITHA NEEDS A SAFE HOME Tabatha is a 10-year old, full-figured girl (!!) who needs a safe indoor home in a quiet household. She does not like other cats and will need to be the only pet. Tabitha is independent and does not like to be picked up, and she wants attention on her terms only. She will be a nice companion cat for an older person or couple who loves cats and will allow her to be her independent self. If you or any of your animal-loving family or friends is looking for such a cat, please share this post with them. We are committed to finding Tabitha a safe home. Please contact us anytime with questions about Tabitha. Tabitha’s Story . . . Ivy Woods Feline Sanctuary is a good friend to neighbors in our surrounding area, especially when it comes to cat related questions and issues. When we received a message from a neighboring farm, we responded and went there to assist with their cat issue. We were not able to connect with the neighbor that day, but as we were going back to the car, a cat came running across the very busy road and literally jumped into our arms. As it turns out, she was asking to be rescued! Now named Tabitha, this girl apparently has spent most of her life as a neglected outdoor cat and/or suffered some trauma that caused her to not like other cats. She did not even have a barn to call home but instead lived in a tote on the porch of an abandoned house. She lived off of crusty old dry food and old water. When we were unable to reach the neighbor who called us, and because the house Tabitha was staying at was abandoned, we were not comfortable leaving her there out of fear she would get hit by a car. We brought her to Ivy Woods and took her to the vet for an exam, vaccines etc. Tabitha growls and yells when she sees other cats, and since Ivy Woods has many cats, it is obviously not the best place for her. She is in foster care now and is scheduled for a dental surgery In early November. Her foster home also has cats so this is not a suitable, long-term home for Tabitha. We are committed and determined to find Tabitha a forever home after her dental surgery. Tabitha is not a cuddly cat, and she wants attention on her terms only. When she is not coming up to you for food or pets, we leave her alone and all is well. Over time Tabitha has become more friendly and trusting of her foster mom. Once in a forever home she will build up that same level of trust. Our hope is to find the right home for Tabitha where she can both give and receive companionship (and wet food)!!

Not good with cats, Spayed or Neutered,
Story
When cats come to Ivy Woods they have a home for life! In some situations, however, we do make an exception and will put one of our cats up for adoption. Sweet Mikey is one of those exceptions. Mikey was found inside a pharmacy in one of the more isolated neighborhoods of NE Baltimore. He was being tossed back and forth between some teenagers in the store. Thankfully a customer intervened and called Ivy Woods Feline Sanctuary asking if Mikey could come to live there. Mikey was young and friendly and settled right in. Over time he developed into a no-nonsense ‘King-of-the-Hill’ personality - aloof and yet immensely affectionate! Mikey is now about 10 years old and is a very nice boy that loves people! In fact he loves people SO MUCH that he gets jealous and protective of them when other cats are around because he wants to get ALL of the attention. We had placed Mikey in a foster-to-adopt situation hoping he would end up being adopted, but after 2+ months in his foster home things didn't work out with the family’s other cat. Mikey had to come back to the Sanctuary and unfortunately he must go to a home where he can be the only cat. Currently Mikey spends most of his time separated from the other sanctuary cats, which you can imagine is difficult to manage and doesn't give him the chance to live his best life roaming about and loving on his people. If you or anyone you know may be interested in fostering Mikey with the option to adopt, please reach out to us for more information. He will be your best friend and love you unconditionally!

Her cute tabby stripes hidden in her gray fur are eye catching. Tabitha is a wild child in the best way. Please contact the shelter during business hours to schedule an appointment and Tabitha will meet you there! Adoptable cats/kittens are spayed/neutered, started on core vaccines per shelter protocols, microchipped, FeLV tested, and started on monthly preventatives.
