Sometimes we will have more than one application on a dog. That does not mean it automatically goes to another family but you should be aware of the fact that until you are approved and set up for the meet/greet.. the dog could get adopted by another applicant.Meet Sophia.  This small Tuxedo lady with her white paws, a white chin and bib is a very confident kitty who won't let her siblings boss her around.   Maybe she had to learn at an early age to stand up for herself when she was abandoned with her mother and brothers in an old tumbled down shack.  She loves to play and investigate, chase her playmates and hide under chairs and then pounce on whoever comes by.  When she finally gets tired, Sophia likes to curl up close to her person and purr until she finally falls asleep. Could you be the person she is looking for? This kitty has been fully vetted and tested negative for Feleuk/FIV.  Sophia is being fostered in the Columbia area.  For more information, please contact rorrfeline@gmail.com.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 10, 2024, 9:24 pm

Delta Dawn was a stray who was outdoors. She was brought indoors over a year ago to be an inside cat. She is still described as skittish, but playful, and likes to be petted when she is at ease. Will need an un-rushed adjustment period, but with focused attention, love, & patience, she could be a loving pet. Best with a gentle, understanding person. Could remain an indoor cat (uses litter box, has nice indoor “manners”), but could be an indoor/outdoor cat in a safe, rural setting, NOT near a busy road. *Must have unlimited access to heated space in cold weather. Would be terrified of loud or multiple dogs, or aggressive cats. She is kind, but not for young children. Adoption includes spay, vaccinations, felv/fiv combo test (neg). Delta Dawn is on monthly topical Revolution for parasite control. BOGO special applies, adopt one, get one! Also included in the adoption is 30 days of Pet First Pet Insurance, and Petco's Free Welcome to the Family Program. NAME: Tony Stark BREED: DSH BIRTHDAY: Spring 2021 ADOPTION FEE: $75   If the Marvel movies have taught us anything, it's that even a snarky, sassy, jerky fellow can be kind and good and helpful. Tony Stark was not the most loveable character to the other Avengers, but we saw him for what he was and loved him despite (or because of) his attitude. And that's the quick story of how Tony Stark the kitten got his name.   Tony Stark is one of seven kittens trapped in two locations in Hanover this summer. He is the toughest and least friendly of the Marvel litter (he and Natasha are looking for their forever homes with GOT, Thor is available through Sam's Beasties Rescue, and Wanda has been adopted). Tony Stark does not like to be held or petted. He runs from new people and doesn't let his foster mom handle him. However, we've seen some miracles worked with feral kittens and we know that there is a family out there who can either work with Tony Stark to help him get friendly, or give him a spot where he can just be a companion for another cat. He LOVES other cats so this would be the easier option, but we would be happy to see him getting love and scratches! There are plenty of more adoptable kittens out here, so it's easy to pass on a project like Tony Stark. But he's the kind of kitten who needs a real hero: could it be you?April 26, 2024, 12:04 am

NAME: Natasha BREED: DSH BIRTHDAY: Spring 2021 ADOPTION FEE: $75   Did you know that only about 20% of red tabbies are females? Natasha is a rare and beautiful girl who seems like she's growing up to be a pretty big cat! One of seven feral kittens trapped from two locations in Hanover, Natasha is one of the friendlier of the Marvel group (Natasha and Tony Stark are in foster care with us, Thor is available for adoption through Sam's Beasties Rescue, and Wanda has found her forever home.) She still needs some work with socialization, but there's not a mean bone in her soft, squishy body. Natasha would benefit from some one-on-one attention, but she'd also make a great companion cat for someone just looking for a friend for their current cats(s). Of course, she'd love to go home with one of her kitten friends from our rescue. We know it will be tough to find homes for Natasha and her feral friends, but we were not going to leave those babies outside under any circumstances. We truly hope we can find them forever homes so we can save more cats, but if not they will live safely and happily here until old age takes them from us. Please consider being a hero for a kitten like Natasha!   **Please note that although Natasha is happy in her foster room and is not an aggressive cat, she does not allow handling or petting and may always be a "friendly feral". A traditional meet-and-greet is not an option as she hides from new people.April 26, 2024, 12:04 am

Story
NAME: Squeaks BREED: DSH BIRTHDAY: July 2020 ADOPTION FEE: $75   Squeaks got his name by literally squeaking until he was rescued. Somehow the very tiny young guy found himself by the dumpster of a hotel in Gettysburg, along a busy roadway. He was all alone in the dark and the rain, but luckily started squeaking just as the director of our rescue was walking to her car after work. He squeaked by the dumpster and then ran to the utility shed and squeaked in there, never showing himself for a second. Finally he held still and squeaked long enough to get snatched up and driven home, where two foster kittens named Rhett and Link were waiting to welcome him into our rescue.   These three boys were adopted together, and grew up together in what we believed was their forever home. Sadly, when their human brother came along they found themselves in need of a new place to live: the new baby is allergic to cats. Now this trio is back in GOT, in a small room where they will have to wait for another family to take them in. This time they are not small kittens but big grown-up boys, and Squeaks especially is a chunker. We know they are less likely to get adopted now, but we are hoping that someone will come along who just wants a handsome young cat to cuddle, love, and play with. Our dream home would take all three boys together, but since Rhett and Squeaks are particularly bonded our goal is to keep them together if nothing else.   From the boys' former family: Squeaks is our beautiful brown striped boy. Have you ever met a cat that loves belly rubs? No? Good! Then Squeaks is your man, he will flop right in front of you and meow for belly rubs. He is a cuddle bug who loves the tops of chairs and couches to lounge in the sun. He also likes treats and being your right hand man in the kitchen! His favorite toys are anything with catnip and a little plush squirrel. He is a little chunky but don't let that fool you, he will jump in the air to get a dangling toy! He is microchipped, neutered, and fully vaccinated. April 26, 2024, 12:04 am

Story
NAME: Rhett BREED: DSH (Bobtail) BIRTHDAY: May 2020 ADOPTION FEE: $75   Rhett came to us as a tiny kitten in the summer of 2020. Although we typically take in only seniors, Rhett and his friend Link were in danger in a shelter we were pulling a dog from, so we offered to take these two special needs boys into our rescue as well. Rhett had a minor rectal prolapse (still an occasional issue but an easy fix) and was later found to have an enlarged heart. However, this didn't stop his new family from taking him home, along with his friends Link and Squeaks!   These three boys were very loved and spoiled, and grew up with a mom and dad who took great care of them. Unfortunately when their human brother came along, Rhett, Link, and Squeaks had to go: new baby is allergic to cats. We as usual were full of cats at our little rescue, but the now-grown trio had no other options, and are currently sharing a small room here until they can find their REAL forever home. We of course would love to see them adopted together, but the most bonded of the group are Rhett and Squeaks. Rhett is a shy fellow who is loving, gentle, and sweet, and warms up once he gets adjusted to new surroundings. His medical issues may affect his lifespan but currently cause him no issues, although his new family will need to be comfortable learning about/taking care of his prolapse when it reoccurs. Rhett has lived with a small dog and is fine with friendly children. He just needs a home and a family of his own where he can feel safe again.   From his former family: Rhett is our special little orange guy, he prefers to lounge around unless there is a dangling cat wand around. He had pneumonia as a little kitten and an enlarged heart (the rescue has his x-rays), the vet has said that he is doing fine and that all you need to do for this is make sure he does not overexert himself (but he sets his own pace, so no worries). He also has a protruding anus and sometimes needs a little cream and wet wipes, but not often. He is the softest cat you've ever touched and his purrs can be felt throughout your entire body, one look at this special man and you are sure to fall in love. He is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. ** Just a note, Rhett has been marking his territory on soft plushy things if we leave them on the ground, and on the ground next to his litter box. This is new behavior and may be caused by the new baby and us having to house him in the basement until he goes back to the rescue. April 26, 2024, 12:04 am

Story
NAME: Link BREED: DSH BIRTHDAY: May 2020 ADOPTION FEE: $75   Special Link and his friend Rhett hitched a ride with an old dog and escaped the southern shelter- both Rhett and Link had some medical issues that needed to be addressed, and we were happy to be able to provide the care they needed. Link is blind, but we quickly learned that his disability doesn't hinder him at all! The boys were living the good life in foster care before being adopted into a loving family with their PA friend Squeaks. There they grew into big handsome boys, and we truly thought they had found their forever home. However, when their human brother came along the trio found themselves in need of a new family: the new baby is allergic to cats.   Link has been the most brave and affectionate of the three boys since coming back to our rescue. He is happy to get attention but is understandably nervous about being picked up and put down (remember, he can't see!) However, he does jump up and down from things all by himself. Although we would love to see all three boys get adopted together, Link is pretty hardy and should do fine being separated from his brothers as long as someone is home more often than not to spend time with him. Working families should have a companion animal, or consider adopting all three cats together (our main goal is to keep Rhett and Squeaks in the same home.)   From the boys' former family: Link is our black and white spunky boy, he was born without one eye and his other eye has sealed shut (he is not in pain and the vet says that he most likely cannot see anything out of it); however, this has not once stopped Link from causing shenanigans around our home. He will rub up against you to let you know he would like cuddles and snuggles and will sit right next to you when watching tv or a movie. He loves to snuggle up in a blanket or in the sun. We have rearranged the furniture a million times and not once has it bothered Link, he adapts and moves on. He is happiest with his crinkle toys and crinkle tube... and cups with straws beware, he will always find a way to get to them. He is microchipped, neutered, and fully vaccinated.  April 26, 2024, 12:04 am

Story
Hello! My name is Luci. My Birthday is 7/11/2022. I am a long-term resident of the rescue. I was rescued from a colony of cats where they were literally falling from the trees. I am the last one left form the colony. I started out as a spicy kitten. I was very afraid of people. My foster parents have worked hard with me on building trust. I have completely come out of my shell, and I am a super sweet kitty now.  I am fostered with other cats and a dog. As long as they give me my space, I will do okay with  them. I w ould do better in a quiet home as I do still get scared easily.  Harlow's Haven Cat Rescue is a non-profit organization the focus on saving the lives of at risk and homeless cats in our community. We provide them with a safe environment in foster homes where they can live cage free and thrive until adoption day. For more information on the adoption process, please head over to harlowshavencatrescue.com April 27, 2024, 5:56 pm

Story
Tuna is a good loving hard headed girl. She is a great cat. Her only downfall is she doesn’t get along with my older cat and our dogs. When she becomes stressed from my older cat she will find a spot to pee. She needs someone who is looking for 1 cat and has experience owning cats. We have had her for 2 years hoping she will eventually become less stressed but unfortunately our home isn’t the most relaxing. She is 4 years old and has already been rehomed once before so if you would like to meet her please contact me and we can talk about if your home is a good fit.
