Story
These two beautiful littermates have been together since birth.  They miss their elderly owner whom they spent 24/7 on her lap.  Sadly, the owner passed away a year ago and the family can't keep them any longer as they are limited to the number of cats they already own, per landlord. Yvette and Yvonne are very shy of strangers and would need a lot of love, compassion, and patience from their next owner.  Currently, they spend all their time on the adult granddaughter's bed.     They will need a calm and quiet home environment with a cat-savvy person who is retired and has plenty of time and a huge understanding of cats, preferably an older woman.  One who would be happy just to watch them from afar, at the beginning. They have the option to go outside from time to time on their own, but need to be inside only for at least 3 month period to get acclimated to their new home before allowing outside.  A Catio would be ideal, but a cat tree in front of a picture window to view their new world would suffice.  Cat scratchers are a must.   Yvonne likes playing with the red dot. Yvette comes when called. Neither like being picked up and the family respected that.  Yvonne likes light petting on the head and back and Yvette likes pets around the head and will headbutt you, wanting more.  Both were fixed at a year old and were recently vaccinated with FVRCP (treats/prevents distemper, Herpes, URI) and Rabies, in January and February 2024. They are flea-treated monthly and dewormed prophylactically. And they will be microchipped upon adoption. Yvonne occasionally gets eye discharge probably due to herpes zoster and will have eye treatment meds provided. We are asking for an adoption fee of $220 for the pair and we will deliver them to their new home.   This cat is offered for adoption due to the owner's personal circumstances. For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Your information will be forwarded to the owner for follow-ups and meeting arrangement.  Cat's Cradle is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue serving Oregon cats who need new homes. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the cats in our care. We invite you to become a foster parent and experience the great satisfaction of helping a cat or kitten in need.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 28, 2024, 1:59 pm

Story
If you have ever had to be on a strict diet – not the “one-scoop vs. two-scoops” but REALLY - then you have an idea of what sweet-tempered Aya is going through.  At 5-6 years old she has experienced a lot of adversity and drama.  Eating was her panacea and she did that really well.  She put on the pounds due to inactivity and that made it harder for her to drop weight – I am sure a lot of humans understand!   We were called to save her.  Save her life, actually.  She lived in a meth house and her unstable environment came to a fever pitch in March when she was surrendered – not because she wasn’t loved, just loved in the wrong way.  Inactivity caused her once-beautiful long hair to be in dreadlocks and shaving took her weight down almost 2 pounds to 18-lb.  She is a “big girl” but should be (4?) pounds lighter for her health.  Despite this her blood work is good, her body is strong and she now eats an easy-to-give 3 cans of Fancy Feast per day.  No dry food.   Because her long hair was so tangled she could not walk without the hair pulling on skin so cleaning her personal areas was not an option.  She could hardly bend and flex.  She couldn’t walk without pain.  Fast forward almost a month and she is running after toys and playing which was not possible before.  She is starting to feel like a cat again as best as we can tell.   This neglect did not negatively affect her personality and she is the sweetest kitty ever.  Here are a few points from her foster family: A few things about Aya: Very sweet and gentle Loves to play with laser light She purrs loudly and loves belly rubs She would take a few weeks to trust you, but am pretty sure once she does, she will be the sweetest, most loving kitty ever.  Not good with cats, will do best as a single pet, no kids.    About her condition: Uses litter box fine She will need to be cleaned on a daily basis so her skin doesn't feel greasy. I've not seen her clean herself.  The skin on her back is still healing, she gets a little grumpy when I try to clean her back.  She likes the flaked/grilled fancy feast cans - no dry food - 3 cans a day   Aya will need someone that can be patient, gain her trust, allow her to explore the place, and give her enough attention so she feels Loved.  Her person should be willing to spend some time and effort on activities that will encourage her to shed weight.  Sometimes we all need a second chance  and this is what Aya is facing.  Can you be her person?   Indoor only.  Adoption fee is waived due to a generous donation. Home visit required.     For more information on meeting and adopting this kitty, please fill out a pre-adoption application under "ADOPT" on our website at WWW.CATSCRADLERESCUE.COM. Your information will be forwarded to the foster parent for follow-ups and meeting arrangement. Adoption fee Includes spay/neuter, microchip, worming and flea treatment, current vaccines, and negative FIV and FeLV test. Cat's Cradle is an all-volunteer, non-profit foster-home based rescue serving Oregon cats who need new homes. 100% of your adoption fee goes to provide for the medical and physical needs of the cats in our care.
