After being abandoned and taken to the shelter, Luanne was absolutely terrified—hiding in the corner of her kennel, barking and growling at anyone who came near. She wasn’t aggressive… she was scared and completely shut down. Thankfully, someone took the time to see past that fear. With patience and kindness, they built trust and brought her out to the play yard—where a completely different dog emerged. Luanne showed off her soft, dainty play style and love for other dogs. Beneath that fear was just a happy, bouncy puppy waiting to feel safe. Because of her kennel behavior, she was placed on the euthanasia list—but we were able to step in just in time. And we are so glad we did. Outside of the shelter, Luanne is a completely different girl. Her story is heartbreaking — when her owner became homeless, Lulu found herself living in a homeless encampment. She became pregnant, and a kind Samaritan stepped in to help, purchasing her so she and her puppies could have a chance at a better life. She safely made it into rescue, but sadly, her puppies contracted a virus and did not survive. It was devastating for everyone, especially sweet Lulu. I don’t know where Nia came from. My ex came home with her one day and I really didn’t need another dog but she was so loving and clearly abused by her previous owner so I didn’t want to take her back. We couldn’t find a place to take her so we kept her. she’s been with me for the last two years. She’s very sweet but super protective. I think because of where she came from she definitely needs to be the only pet. She is honestly one of the biggest babies I’ve ever met and I wish I could keep her but her and my pitbull aren’t getting along anymore and that’s too much for me to handle on my own. Shes a very very happy dog and loves to cuddle. Spoiled rotten unfortunately so thats my fault. I would love for her to go to someone that wont leave her outside all day. Whoever had her before made her an outside dog so shes not really a fan of being out for very long. House trained and only chews on toys.
