Story
Blue is a big friendly guy who loves to cuddle. He was living outside with unhoused in the city. He was brought into my place of work and has been living with me for the past year. I am moving in with my partner in the fall and unfortunately he has a dog who does not get along with other dogs. Blue is great with other dogs! And all people! He is a big lover! He is going to need someone who is patient with him though as he does get nervous when left along in new places. He has settled into our apartment and routine but needs time in new environments. He does much better with a dog companion so would love a sibling if you had one. He is currently living with another dog and two cats.

Story
Meet our gentle giant, a Cane Corso and Neapolitan Mastiff mix born April 26, 2024. At 150 lbs, he’s a loving cuddlebug who enjoys being close to his people, whether lying by your feet or rolling happily in the grass. He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, house-trained, crate-trained, and knows sit, stay, and heel. He can stay out of the crate alone without causing damage. He’s friendly with strangers, good with cats, and has attended daycare and puppy play camp. While sometimes reactive with dogs at first, he redirects easily and often becomes playful after proper introductions. We love him deeply, but cannot give him the space, time, and exercise he deserves. He would thrive with someone experienced with large guardian breeds who can continue his training and confidence. In return, he’ll offer loyalty, protection, and endless love. He’s ready for a forever family.

Story
Meet Balboa — a resilient, gentle giant with a heart as big as his comeback story! When Balboa first arrived at the MSPCA as a stray, he was severely underweight and clearly had a tough road behind him. Thanks to the dedicated care of our hospital team, he’s made an incredible recovery and is now back on his paws, feeling stronger every day. While much of Balboa’s past is unknown, what we do know is that he’s ready for a fresh start with a patient and understanding adopter. He’ll thrive in a home willing to give him the time and space he needs to settle in and slowly expand his world at his pace.

Story
Meet Kifaru! Kifaru is a stunning Cane Corso with all the qualities that make this breed so admired: intelligence, loyalty, confidence, and a deep devotion to his family. Like many true guardian breeds, Kifaru is not the type of dog who immediately befriends everyone he meets. He takes time to assess new people and situations, and can be somewhat standoffish at first. However, once you've earned his trust, you'll gain a fiercely loyal companion who forms incredibly strong bonds with his people. As a Cane Corso, Kifaru embodies the breed's traditional purpose as a guardian and protector. Corsos are known for being thoughtful, discerning, and naturally protective rather than overly social with strangers. They thrive with confident, consistent handlers who appreciate the unique relationship that comes with owning a guardian breed. Kifaru is looking for someone who understands that trust is built, not rushed. One of Kifaru's favorite things is food, making him highly motivated and eager to work. He enjoys learning and engaging with his handler, and he already has an impressive training foundation. Kifaru knows all of his commands in German and has been trained to work off leash. That said, any new owner should focus on building a strong bond, trust, and communication system with him before testing his off-leash reliability or pursuing advanced training. A successful partnership with Kifaru starts with relationship first, training second.Once he's comfortable and connected, Kifaru's softer side shines through. Behind his serious guardian exterior is a dog who loves affection, enjoys snuggling with his trusted people, and genuinely wants to be close to his family. He is both a willing student and a devoted companion.Kifaru would do best with an owner who appreciates the Cane Corso's natural instincts, values structure and leadership, and is willing to invest the time needed to earn his trust. For the right person, Kifaru won't just be a pet, he'll be a loyal partner and lifelong best friend.Does Kifaru sound like the perfect match for you? Story
Mater is a big goofy boy! He loves going on walks around our field, people, and dogs. He loves roughhousing with dogs, but we prefer that he goes to a home with bigger dogs just because he’s so big himself! He’s great with children of all ages! He loves spending time with people and even loves being dressed up!

Story
Hello, I’m Aggie! I’m in search of my forever home. I like to bark when I see dogs but when properly introduced, I get along with dogs, even the ankle biters. I’m incredibly sweet and affectionate. While I may not fully grasp my size, I know how to show you love with plenty of kisses, drool, and face licks! When I greet people, I tend to jump up to get a better look at them. I’m working on it, but sometimes I forget. I take treats very gently. Car rides are my favorite—I’ll even buckle up! I might pull a bit on the leash when we first head out, but I improve as we continue our walk. I’m not sure about cats at this time, and I prefer a home with kids aged 12 and older. Previous experience with Cane Corsos or guardian breeds is required. Only homeowners with fenced yards will be considered. To apply, visit http://www.almosthomeri.org. It is important to know that Aggie and her sister, Emma, were confiscated from a Providence auto repair shop. They were purchased as puppies and lived in junk cars on the property until Providence Animal Control liberated them.
