Ashlu has a long story so let's see if we can break it down in a nutshell.1. left abandoned at a gold mine on a forestry road.2. Good Samaritan finds Ashlu. 3. Ashlu tries to run away from good Samaritan, but he has such a thick, tight mat on his back, he cannot move his legs to run. Finder also notices that cat food has been left with the cat.4. Good Samaritan picks up Ashlu, and brings him back to Squamish on his motorcycle, wrapped in his jacket.5. Ashlu is safe in Squamish, and although he is considered a stray, has the giant matt shaved off of his back, as it was painful and inhibited his ability to move.6. Shy but sweet. Larry is a stoic quiet cat that has been through a lot. He came to us after living with many cats and was quite matted. He is a medium furred cat, and he had picked up burrs that attached themselves to the matts and over time were rubbing on Larry's skin. How uncomfortable that had to be for him.Larry is curious about what is going on around him, but he will need a quieter home that will be patient and take the time for him to feel comfortable and trusting.Food and treats are favorites of Larry's and can be a good tool to gain his trust.No matter how much we can make a cat like Larry's world/environment better, where he came from is all he knew, and so any changes can be very scary. Lance is a big ball of charm with many different personalities. Lance can be chatty and like to share his thoughts and ideas, and he can also be chill and laid back.Poor Lance had horrible matts and so he has had to have most of his body shaved. He has been a super boy and tolerated a bath and some much needed grooming sessions. Now that he is shaved, all will be better, and he will have a beautiful long coat once it has grown back. Lance wants you to know that baths are not a popular activity for him.Lance has the big cheeks of an adult male cat and loves to have them scratched. He will rub up against you asking for more attention and he very much likes being around humans.Although Lance came from a home of many, many cats, he's not always happy when they're high energy. He may be ok with other calm felines, but he seems to seek out the attention of people more and could be pet all day long. Maybe when you have lived with so many other cats, having some individual attention is required.FYI: Lance will need an extra-large covered litter box as his enthusiasm for covering used litter is a bit over the top.
