Story
Unfortunately we are needing to rehome our 2 year old kitty, Rosie. We have had her since she was 3 months old. She is a very sweet cat who only wants cuddles and pets. She does need a home without *young* children (5+) as that is why she needs to be rehomed. She does very well with our golden retriever and 5 year old, but not so much our 1 year old. She is an indoor kitty, and does not like being outside. She is also polydactyl (she has thumbs).

Story
Meet Titania 🧚‍♀️🐾Named after the Queen of the Fairies, Titania carries herself with a quiet confidence and gentle charm that makes it easy to see how she earned such a regal name. She tested positive for FIV, but she is otherwise very healthy and expected to live a long, happy life. FIV is often misunderstood. It is not an immediate death sentence and is primarily spread through deep bite wounds. Cats with FIV can live peacefully alongside non-FIV cats as long as everyone gets along, and Titania has shown us just that. She does wonderfully with the other cats in our cat room.Titania is friendly, curious, and an absolute sweetheart. She enjoys companionship but also appreciates a calm environment where she can fully relax. Because young children tend to overwhelm her, Titania would do best in a home without them. Older, laidback children that respect her space and need for quiet retreat would be fine. When things get too busy, she prefers to quietly retreat and observe from a safe, cozy spot. For someone looking for a gentle, loving companion with a soft spirit, Titania is the kind of cat who will weave herself into your daily life in the most comforting way. She’s ready for a peaceful home where her royal heart can truly settle in.Her adoption fee is $75 and this includes her spay, vaccines, FIV/FeLV testing, and a microchip that we register for you. Story
⚠️ WARNING: Purrcy is not legally responsible for any damages caused by zoomies, airborne attacks, curtain climbing, or emotional distress related to surprise ankle assaults. ⚠️Do not let the tuxedo fool you. Purrcy may be dressed like a distinguished gentleman, but spiritually he is a raccoon with unlimited energy and absolutely no supervision. This kitten wakes up every morning and chooses chaos. This tiny menace operates exclusively at full speed. He ricochets off furniture like a ping pong ball possessed by ancient spirits. He has absolutely no concept of “personal space,” “inside voice,” or “maybe I shouldn’t launch myself directly at someone’s face.”Purrcy is currently wanted for:* scaling human legs like a tiny mountain goat* unauthorized counter surfing* sneak attacks from under furniture* parkour off the walls at unsafe speeds* biting things just to see what happens* and several counts of being way too cute to prosecuteHe treats every room like an obstacle course and every human like unpaid staff. You cannot own Purrcy. You can only attempt to contain him.And somehow…despite all of this…he is hysterical. The kind of kitten that makes you yell “WHY ARE YOU LIKE THIS?!” while trying not to laugh. One minute he’s committing crimes against your shoelaces, the next he’s flopped dramatically in your lap purring like an idling motorcycle as if he hasn’t spent the last hour terrorizing the entire zip code.Because Purrcy is approximately 92% caffeine and bad decisions, he absolutely needs another young playful cat or kitten in the home. Not optional. Mandatory. He needs a wrestling partner, enrichment coordinator, and fellow chaos gremlin to help direct his energy into something slightly less destructive. He is not a calm kitten. He is not decorative. He is an experience. A lifestyle. A home security threat. A furry little concussion with whiskers. If your house feels a little too peaceful and your ankles have gotten complacent, Purrcy is ready to help with that. 🖤🤍Apply to adopt at:effinghamcountyhumanesociety.org

Story
Rikki Tikki Tabby. The mongoose-inspired legend himself. 🐅📚This handsome one year old tabby found himself at ECHS for a reason that made all of us dramatically stare into the camera like we’re on "The Office." Rikki was surrendered because he “wasn’t cuddly enough.” Translation? He doesn’t want to be hauled around like a sack of potatoes. Insert collective eye roll here. Now, let’s clear something up. Rikki is NOT mean. Quite the opposite actually. He’s friendly, enjoys pets, likes being around people, and is a wonderfully laidback guy. He simply prefers his affection served with a side of personal space. A consent king, if you will.Rikki gets along well with other cats and has an easygoing personality that makes him a breeze to live with. He’s the kind of cat who will happily hang out beside you on the couch, follow you from room to room, supervise your daily activities, and quietly become your little shadow without needing to be carried around like royalty in a parade. Not every cat wants to be Velcro. Some cats just want companionship, snacks, a sunny window, and respect for their very reasonable boundaries. Honestly? Rikki Tikki Tabby sounds emotionally healthier than most humans. If you’re looking for a chill, handsome tabby with a great name and an even better personality, Rikki Tikki Tabby is ready to slither his way into your heart. Minus the cobras.Rikki's adoption fee is $75 and he comes neutered, vaccinated, tested negative for FIV and FeLV, and microchipped. Apply for him on our website at EffinghamCountyHumaneSociety.org
