Story
Meet Starfish — a beautiful 3-year-old grey tabby and white lady with a gentle spirit and a thoughtful, observant nature. Starfish is on the shy side and prefers to take her time getting comfortable in new spaces, often choosing a cozy hiding spot where she can quietly watch the world go by. Once she feels safe, Starfish will start to show her sweet side. She’s happy to come out for calm company and enjoys gentle, respectful pets from people she trusts. Those quiet moments of connection are where she truly shines — soft, subtle, and sincere. Starfish is not yet comfortable with being handled extensively, and she can find medical procedures stressful. She’ll need a patient home that understands this and is willing to give her the time and space she needs to build trust at her own pace, without pressure or expectation. With kindness, consistency, and respect for her boundaries, Starfish has every chance to blossom into a deeply rewarding companion. She’s looking for a calm, understanding home where she can feel safe enough to slowly come out of her shell and be loved exactly as she is. Story
Meet Flounder — a 2–3-year-old former street survivor with the face of a prizefighter and the heart of a shy little poet. This handsome guy looks like he’s spent the last several months doing twelve rounds in back alleys and surviving on grit alone. Think Rocky Balboa in cat form: rough around the edges, a little weathered, and carrying the unmistakable look of someone who’s seen some things. Life on the streets clearly wasn’t easy for Flounder, and he wears that history in his scruffy, tough-guy appearance. But unlike Rocky, Flounder isn’t charging confidently into the spotlight. Underneath that rugged exterior is a nervous, gentle soul who likely survived by staying hidden — skulking in corners, keeping to the shadows, and only venturing out when the world felt safe enough. He’s cautious with people and still learning that he no longer has to fend for himself. And then there’s his meow. For such a rough-and-tumble-looking fellow, Flounder has the tiniest, meekest little mew imaginable — like he’s politely apologizing for taking up space. It’s impossible not to root for him. Flounder doesn’t need much: just a calm home, a patient person, and the chance to finally trade survival mode for soft blankets and regular meals. He may take time to trust, but with kindness and understanding, we think this former street cat is more than ready to discover the joys of being a pampered housecat. Every tough guy deserves a happy ending. Flounder’s just hoping his starts with you. Story
Smokey came into the shelter with her 5 kittens. Now that her kittens have grown and are off to homes, she is looking for a home of her own! Mama is a gentle, soulful girl whose personality blooms beautifully with time, patience, and love. When she first arrived, she preferred to hide away from the world — but once she learned she was safe, her sweet and quirky personality began to shine. Now, Smokey has her own special way of showing affection: carrying shoes around the house while singing little meows along the way. Crocs are her favourite treasure to relocate, whether she’s tucking them under the couch or thoughtfully leaving them outside your bedroom door overnight — her own adorable love language. She has bonded wonderfully with children in her foster home, and enjoys sunny naps on the cat tree, window watching, mealtimes, and the occasional burst of zoomies. Smokey prefers affection on her terms and enjoys gentle companionship more than being picked up or cuddled. This sweet, sensitive lady is looking for a calm home filled with soft love, sunny windows, and patient humans who will appreciate her quiet charm and unique personality. Smokey would prefer a dog-free home, as puppies and dogs are not her thing. ❌🐶❌ Please complete an adoption application: https://www.hamilton.ca/home-neighbourhood/animals-pets/adopt-or-foster-pet/adoptions Animal adoptions and viewing are by appointment only. Story
Meet Dory the tuxedo queen who's basically the feline version of Baby from Dirty Dancing... if Baby traded dance lessons for parkour and a strong opinion about personal space. At just under a year old, Dory is young, confident, endlessly curious, and absolutely convinced your business is her business. She'll follow you from room to room like your tiny black-and-white supervisor, inspecting every cupboard, bag, and mysterious noise with detective-level commitment. Curious with a touch of obsession? Yes. If you open a closet once, expect Dory to revisit the case several times daily. She's got confidence, sass, and a healthy sense of independence. Dory enjoys affection but on her terms. Think nobody puts Baby in a corner, except in this case nobody puts Dory anywhere she didn't personally choose herself. Pick her up unexpectedly? She may file a formal complaint. Respect her boundaries and you'll earn head boops, companionship, and a loyal little shadow who just wants to be near her people. Dory just may not be fond of other cats and may prefer to be the solo feline in the household. Dory is friendly, social, and full of personality. She's the kind of cat who enters a room like she owns the dance floor, gives you a look that says I carried a watermelon, and then struts off to investigate something she absolutely should not be climbing. If you're looking for a cat with charm, confidence, comedy, and main-character energy, Dory is ready for the time of her life. Story
Meet Coral a bold, confident explorer with a strong sense of self and absolutely no interest in pretending to be anything she's not. At around two to three years old, Coral knows what she likes, knows what she doesn't, and approaches life entirely on her own terms. This spirited girl prefers to be the queen of her castle and would do best as the only cat in the home. She's not the type to enjoy being coddled or carried around like a baby, and she's definitely not auditioning for the role of cuddly lap cat. Instead, Coral thrives when given the freedom to explore, investigate, and satisfy her curiosity independently. That said, Coral is friendly and happy to spend time with her people as long as they respect her boundaries and let the relationship develop naturally. Earn her trust by meeting her where she's at, and you'll discover a fascinating companion with plenty of personality and charm. Coral is looking for a home that appreciates confident cats, understands feline independence, and will love her for exactly who she is: a consummate explorer with a big personality and a heart that shines brightest when she's allowed to be herself.
