Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. JohnnyStorm is a sweet and playful puppy who came to us as an owner surrender, and he's truly a little bundle of joy. He absolutely adores snuggles and has a quirky love for toys—any kind! Whether it’s a dog toy, a kid’s toy, or even shoes, he’ll happily grab whatever’s nearby. Matchbox cars seem to be a favorite, but Crocs are his go-to shoes, so we definitely have to keep those and the non-dog toys out of reach! He gets along well with everyone—adults, kids (my 5-year-olds adore him), and other dogs too. He has a bit of a playful rivalry with my cat; they love to “exchange words,” with JohnnyStorm barking and the cat hissing in return. Outdoors is where he really lights up, darting around to chase every scent he can find. With the cooler weather, though, he does shiver a bit. He’s still mastering leash walking, and while he’s learning not to walk in front of us (to avoid getting stepped on), it’s always an entertaining challenge! When it comes to mealtime, he used to be a bit of a grazer, nibbling on breakfast, lunch, or dinner and coming back for more throughout the day. But he's gotten better lately, polishing off about 1/2 to 3/4 of his meal in one sitting. Full of energy and a little sass, JohnnyStorm's daily zoomies are a joy to watch—especially when he’s around other dogs. We think he’s grown a bit since we first got him, and his fur is starting to change colors, so maybe that Catahoula side of him will shine through soon! JohnnyStorm is from Texas.   If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $250 plus taxMeet Bonnaroo! This handsome fella needs a strong, gentle pack leader who will not allow him to be in charge.  Yes he is a big boy and can be a bit overwhelming to some but when he knows you are the boss because you guide him to do the right thing, he is all yes ma’am, yes sir.  He will need continued training and yes, we have a trainer already set up to work with him.  We just need a foster or adopter who is willing to put in the time for socialization and training.  He will thrive in an environment that has boundaries and expectations for him to follow. He is true to his people and although needs a minute to be ok with strangers, once he is comfortable, he is all snuggles and happy wiggles. He is housebroken and crate trained and walks well on a leash.  Right now he prefers to be the only dog in the home.  He can be around other dogs, but is a bit awkward and wants to show them he is the boss.  Yes, the trainer will help with that.   Look at that face…. Won’t you help Bonnaroo be all he can be??   If you have filled out an application please just email adoptionatmars@gmail.com   If you are a previous foster please email fosteratmars@gmail.com   Let's get this big guy home!!  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lindsay found herself unwanted and on death row in a high kill shelter in West Texas.  She loves other dogs.  Cats and young children are unknown. She is good with all people. All dogs and puppies require supervision and training. Lindsay is a sweet, playful pup ready to find her forever family. She loves to play with toys, chew on bones, be outside, go on walks, but most importantly be with others. She is a social butterfly looking for people or dogs to love on. She has so much love to give!  Lindsay currently lives with another dog and has lived with multiple dogs as well, including an elderly dog who doesn’t love to play. Lindsay respected that and greets her kindly before going to play with the other foster sibling . Her foster sibling loves to play and chase (or be chased) around the yard. He lets her climb all over and shares toys well (after an initial slow introduction). Lindsay is also a huge snuggle bug. She loves to curl up in a blanket on the couch. She will also curl up in a blanket in her kennel but she may whine about it for a little at first. She sleeps through the night in her kennel and is potty trained. She’s highly motivated to learn and super smart so we think she’ll catch on quickly with anything she learns. She has skills so if you have a 4' fence, you will need to keep a close eye on her or use a long line as a back up as she can easily hop over it.  Currently, Lindsay does not live with any kids but has interacted with kids and does really well. We think she would do well in a house with kids as she is gentle and loves them when she is attending events.  First priority will go to someone who lives in the twin cities metro in order to bring to a vet visit.  Please put in your application on our website mattysheartandsoulanimalrescue.rescuegroups.org.      Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 8, 2024, 7:06 pm

Story
Marbles has had a ruff go of things, but that has already started to turn around for him. Adopted as a puppy, Marbles didn’t get a ton of socialization nor training so he was a bit of a hot mess when he was surrendered because his humans were moving. He would snap at other dogs and was an emotional hot mess around people, gravitating between growling and trying to climb them to be held (he’s far too big to be held). In the many weeks since his first day here, Marbles has come so far. He has worked his way up to being a volunteer favorite and he is so excited to have someone come to his kennel to get him out. He is still hesitant of brand new people – especially when he’s on leash or behind a barrier (like a fence) but this isn’t uncommon for dogs who didn’t receive appropriate socialization as puppies and/or have some genetic predisposition to fearfulness. With someone who understands fearfulness, he is extremely manageable. What does that look like? Marbles will need an owner who is willing and able to say to others (even their friends and family) “don’t pet my dog” until Marbles has gotten a chance to check out this new human and see that he’s safe. With most people, this only takes Marbles a couple of minutes. Marbles absolutely loves to play with his dog friends in playgroups. He engages with our gentle/dainty doggos, as he loves to play as long as the play doesn’t get too rough nor vocal. He is such a sensitive soul that the stimulation from wrestlemania play (or vocal play) is just too much for him and he will take himself out of the play, or ask for space with an appropriate correction (like an air snap). Marbles has such a non-threatening energy about him that he has been a master at getting our shy dogs to play, showing those little wallflowers that other dogs are not a threat; which is quite ironic since he was initially so afraid of other dogs when he first arrived. Check him out in action, here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLS5FLiVr89sqr2goyaLJwM_zX3Zf4tNOu&si=jV0Oe3boU4RCfckcOur staff and volunteers have put a ton of work into Marbles – from obedience repetitions to socialization and desensitization – but he is now ready to find a furever family who will continue that work out in the ‘real world’ outside the walls of our shelter. If you have experience with fearful, sensitive dogs and are as enamored by his beautiful coloring as we are, please come in to meet Marbles to see if he’s the right fit for your ho

Hello there, I'm Miny. I'm just a puppy, but I've got a big heart. I'm sweet as honey and brave as a lion, always ready for a new adventure. I also love cuddles and I'm always ready to snuggle up with someone who loves me. I'm independent, but I also value companionship. I'm looking for a forever home, a place where I can be loved and cherished. I promise to be your loyal companion, your confidante, your best friend.
