Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I'm Guinness! My brothers and I found ourselves in rescue in Texas. I am your typical adorable, playful puppy just looking for a new start in Minnesota. I am a friendly guy who thinks all humans are my friend. I like playing with other dogs, but I could be an only pet too if you have the time and energy to keep me busy. My Texas foster says I'm real sweet. I tend to agree! Are you looking for a cutie like me?   Guinness is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 5/4/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 5pm and 9pm. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame.  Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Click here to learn more about the FTA program. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. *Rescue puppies are notorious for losing their birth certificates before entering our rescue. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hera is from Texas.  She is one of 10 puppies that were found with their mom  under an  abandoned  building.  Hera was brought into rescue, received her necessary  veterinary  care, and is absolutely thriving!  It's time to find her a home of her very own here in MN.  Hera is not completely potty trained, but her foster  family  in Texas is working hard at it with her every day.  Hera is still on her puppy schedule.. sleep, eat, play & poop.. lol!  Giving her adequate outside time roughly 30-45 minutes after she eats consistently is crucial to her continued potty training after she gets to her new home here in MN.  Hera is not crate trained per se, but crate training a puppy is quite easy.. just make sure you have a crate  open  and available to her throughout the day.  put her bed/blanket in there, feed her her meals there, and give any high value treats in the kennel.  She is still in her  land shark  phase as those puppy teeth are falling out, preferring something soothing to chew on.. benebones/raw bones.  Soon she will associate it with all things good and safe.  If she has troubles settling to sleep or if you need to crate while you are gone, usually covering the crate with a blanket will help her settle.  Hera is a very smart little girl and her Texan foster mom thinks she will be  incredibly  easy to train, as she is so eager to please.  She loves to play with toys and splash around in the puppy pool at her foster home.  She would love an active family that just wants to make her a part of their life.. going on walks  every  night to explore her new surroundings.. maybe throwing the ball a bit.. you know.. puppy stuff.  She promises to pay you back with all the puppy kisses you can possibly handle!  If you think this sounds like the perfect  little arrangement to you, please fill out an adoption application today!     They arrive in Minnesota on 5/4/2024 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 5pm and 9pm. Story
Huxley is a 3 year old Catahoula Leopard Dog who we’ve had since he was 8 weeks old. He’s a great family dog and loves to cuddle. He loves kids, other dogs, and does amazing with our infant daughter and older dog. He does like to pester our cat to get him to play. His favorite activity is swimming though he would enjoy anything that would involve using his energy. He has a great nose and could definitely learn to track/be a hunting buddy. He’s very smart and knows many commands including sit, down, stay, roll over, shake, leave it, hug. We are rehoming him due to his behavior issue of separation anxiety. He pees in the house whenever left alone - he also cannot be kenneled due to hurting himself. I believe he can learn to improve/manage his issue but with our growing family and already trying medications/mental stimulating toys/home training/belly band diapers we feel it would be best for him to find a new home with a family that can always be there for him or help with his issues.
