Meet Ocean. Meet Ocean, a handsome New Yorker with a very special feature, one beautiful blue eye as blue as the ocean! Ocean was found as a stray here in New York and eventually landed at the NYC ACC. When the shelter ran out of room, we stepped in to give this sweet boy the second chance he deserved. Ocean is an energetic, happy fellow who absolutely loves his treats! He’s sweet and eager to please, but he’s also still learning and needs some guidance and direction. With patience, positive reinforcement, and plenty of yummy rewards, this handsome boy is sure to thrive. Ocean has the looks, the personality, and that unforgettable ocean-blue eye. Now he just needs a loving home to show him how wonderful life can be. Could Ocean be the one who makes a splash in your heart? Want to learn more? We'd love to tell you! Our bios are just a snapshot, so please reach out to our adoption team with any questions about Ocean's personality, medical history, or ideal home. We'd be happy to help you determine if Ocean is the perfect match for your family. All dogs will be altered, microchipped, and receive age-appropriate vaccines prior to adoption.  Interested in fostering or adopting?  Need more info on this dog?  The first step in the process is filling out an application on our website. This sweet girl is a whirlwind of fun and affection, just like your favorite candy shop. Her angelic smile and soulful brown eyes are like a scoop of ice cream on a sunny day, instantly lifting the blues away. When it’s time for belly rubs and snuggles, Candy transforms into the ultimate cuddle bug, making every car ride a cozy adventure. And for those Sundays when the world feels a little gloomy, let Candy's sweetness melt your worries away!Chris, a dedicated volunteer, shares, As I walk down the aisle of kennels, Candy's excitement is contagious. She wiggles her tail like crazy, giving me that 'Pick me! Pick me!' look. Her little spin move when she sees the harness makes my day every time. But wait, there’s more! In the yard, Candy’s hilarious game of back-scratch dancing with toys on either side is pure comedy gold. Check out her videos to see her in action!Candy’s charm is like a lollipop—irresistible and delightful. Are you ready to let Candy sweeten your life?Candy is currently in a foster home. Once your application is approved, you will be sent a brief questionnaire that must be completed before you can make an appointment. If you have any questions about Candy, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix.  We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.October 17, 2026, 1:08 am

Story
CAPE MAY COUNTY, NJ: Whoa, who’s that gorgeous light merle new cutie? It’s the playful and loving young Harlem! (previously known as Leonardo at the shelter, lovingly dubbed Harlem by his fosters) Sweet boy Harlem is only 1 year old and weighs 60 lbs. He has a rare light merle coloring that makes him stand out, but this good boy also has an outstanding personality! He is friendly and outgoing, greeting everyone he can – and climbing into laps if he can, too! Harlem is a sweet boy who does happy zoomies and enthusiastically plays with his toys. Harlem bonds deeply to his people and looks to them for comfort. Poor Harlem was originally found as a stray and although he suffered from kennel stress in the shelter, he was otherwise a very good boy. With how loving he is and how good at giving kisses, it is no wonder Harlem steals hearts wherever he goes! Harlem absolutely adores his fosters, wanting to be by their side and can tend to be a "velcro dog" so he is all about being your best friend! Being a young guy, Harlem has a higher energy level, so he loves to go for walks and play outside. He is dog friendly, currently living with multiple other dogs but will need proper intros, of course. Harlem is so excited to begin his second chance at life! Could that life be with you, as a loyal (and handsome) companion? Harlem is neutered, fully vetted, microchipped and ready to be adopted! Please contact AmsterDog at 917-689-8414 (text ok) or by e-mail at info@amsterdog.org. Apply to adopt dear Harlem at AmsterDog.org. Thanks for caring about a pet in need!

Story
Manoush is a really sweet-tempered, great dog. The reason I'm re-homing her is because my partner and I are separating, and now the dog responsibilities are falling all on me, and it's too much with work, and my kids, and trying to date. I also think she could use some more stimulation during the day, and I think my daughter and I are a bit allergic to her. She's very affectionate. I can't recommend her highly enough for someone who really wants a dog and has the resources the time to play with one.

Story
Rocco is a VERY energetic 6 month old puppy. He loves to run and go on walks and needs a lot of attention from his owner. Our schedules are so busy and not home a lot during the day so at night Rocco is looking for so much attention and has built up energy. He would be wonderful with someone who works from home on a regular basis and is able to take him for walks and show him attention. He is not great around young children as he doesn’t know his own size and is always knocking my 2 year old down. He is crate trained and will need to be on a crate at night and when you are not home. He is a very sweet dog and gives lots of kisses. He is not yet neutered due to his size and breed the vet suggested waiting until he is at least 9 months to a year old.

Meet Piper — Your New Snuggle Buddy!Say hello to Piper, a beautiful 4-year-old Catahoula Leopard Dog. She has a heart as big as her personality! Piper is a 60 pound snuggle bug who believes there’s no such thing as too many cuddles, belly rubs, or cozy time at home with her favorite people. This sweet and loyal girl loves to play, cuddle, and soak up attention, and she’s wonderful with kids. She’s also been professionally trained, so she’s ready to settle into her forever home and show her new family just how incredibly special she is. She is housetrained and knows basic commands…and not so basic, like paw and hugs! Piper enjoys car rides, hikes, and would love a home with a backyard of her very own. She can be selective with doggie friends so she would do best in a home as an only dog. She is happiest in a place where she can stretch her legs, enjoy some sunshine, and, most importantly, roll around in the grass! It’s one of her favorite things to do. After playtime and a walk, Piper can be found curled up, content, and napping happily.Piper is looking for a family where she can be your one and only pet, the center of your world, and the recipient of all the love she has to give. Her next chapter is waiting, and Piper is ready to fill it with love, laughter, playtime, belly rubs, grassy zoomies, and plenty of snuggles. While she is deeply loved by her foster family, Piper deserves to feel secure knowing she has found her forever home. Could you be the forever family this sweet girl has been waiting for? Thank you so much for your interest in adopting a dog from A New Chance Animal Rescue (https://anewchancear.org). We are a 501c3, tax deductible organization. ANCAR is a foster-based rescue, and we adopt within a 90 mile radius of Bedford Hills, NY. You will find the adoption application here: (https://anewchancear.org/adopt/adoption-application/). All fields on the application must be completed. Please read about the adoption process (https://www.anewchancear.org/adopt/our-adoption-process/) so you'll know what to expect when you submit. Our dogs are in foster care and we do NOT have a shelter or boarding facility. AN APPLICATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN FULL AND APPROVED BEFORE A DOG CAN BE MET. This is a firm policy. Our busy volunteers are not able to respond to questions about the dog or dog meeting requests in the absence of an application. We know these dogs very well because they are in foster care. Please read the profiles of the dog(s) you are interested in prior to submitting an application. If there are specific requirements stated (ie: Fenced Yard or Canine Friend Required) these are included because they are vital to the happiness, health, safety and adoption success of that dog. We are only able to save as many dogs as we have foster homes (https://www.anewchancear.org/foster/faqs/) and resources for. We provide medical care including vaccinations, testing, deworming, spaying/neutering and microchipping before transporting our dogs. We provide all supplies, preventatives and any follow up vet care necessary while they are in foster care. These costs are high and the number of lives we can save is entirely dependent upon donations from people like you. We do not receive funding from private foundations or government sources. If you can find room in your heart to help us, with any amount, we are truly grateful (https://www.anewchancear.org/help/donate/). We are a 501c3 organization, so all donations are tax-deductible. It is only through the kindness of supporters like you that we are 'changing lives...one tail at a time' by providing our dogs with 'A New Chance.' (https://anewchancear.org) Thanks so much.
