Story
Nico is a very handsome boy with beautiful eyes. He needs to be on a strict routine. He shouldn't be in a home with young kids. He would have to be the only pet. He is strong and stubborn. He needs someone who will be consistent with him. He isn't friendly to other animals. He is very loyal and protective to his person. He needs a home with a yard. He needs a home where it is strict and the person(s) are patient. He is neutered, microchipped, and fully vaccinated. Inquire about setting up a meet and greet.       ##1501785##

Caitlin Clark's basic bio is below, but we maintain more detailed information about each of our animals on our website, which is also always up to date with animals removed immediately once they are adopted. Please visit Caitlin Clark's page on our site (https://www.muddypawsrescue.org/adoptable?dog=007460) to learn even more about Caitlin Clark! Additionally, please note that the breed listed for Caitlin Clark is just our best guess based on the dog's physical features. We cannot make any guarantees about the accuracy of our guesses. PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO VOLUME, WE ARE GENERALLY UNABLE TO RESPOND TO INQUIRIES MADE USING THE 'ASK ABOUT ME' BUTTON. Please reach out to us directly using the contact information on our website: www.muddypawsrescue.org. Hi there! My name is Caitlin. I came to Muddy Paws on a cloudy Saturday morning all the way from Kentucky. They don’t know much about my life before I was rescued (though people keep asking me about basketball....), and at first, I was a little scared of city life. Despite my unknown past, my foster parent says I’ve settled in at lightning speed. I LOVE to snuggle. I want to be on my foster parents as much as they’ll let me. They've been working with me on not jumping on the couch and they say I'm getting the hang of settling down on my own bed or in my crate. I’m a brand new city puppy, and I just want to be near my people! Or really any people! Have I mentioned that I LOVE all people? I LOVE to eat. From frozen fruits and veggies to kibble, I’m always down for a snack. I LOVE to walk, especially going around a park or going on errands like grabbing coffee. I’m not so much into free play and long leashes, as I want to stay near my foster parent for reassurance if there’s a dog barking near me, so you don’t have to worry about me needing extra space! I’m 95% potty trained and prefer to use the bathroom outside on grass. My only slip-ups these days is I sometimes get super, super excited to see my foster parents after being in my crate or meeting new people in the apartment, and I may leak a little pee. I was once a little scared of the stairs, but I've now conquered them at my foster parents' apartment! I would prefer to be your one and only pup until I’m more comfortable, as I don’t always like sharing my food or treats with other dogs. I don't mind seeing other dogs on walks or in the apartment building though! I get along with my foster parents' cat, but occasionally will try to chase her which my foster parents are trying to train me on because apparently that is considered rude to cats...

Story
Star was rescued in Louisiana. A lady that found her called me and said that she could not find a rescue group in Louisiana to take her. She had a gunshot wound through her jaw and ear. She was in pain. She brought her to me in Mississippi, and I got her the medical treatment that she needed. She had jaw surgery, and now her tongue permanently hangs out. We think this makes her uniquely special!! I know that her tongue hanging out may be a deterrent for a permanent home, but Star is such a sweet baby. She cannot help it that somebody shot her. She is a Catahoula hound, and her tail is docked. Star is a very sweet and loves to ride in the car. She loves dogs, and she loves children. She loves to roll over for a belly rub, and she knows the sit command. She is extremely smart. She loves to load up and ride in the car, and I believe that she was somebody’s baby at one time! Also, if you live out of state we use the most animal-friendly transport on the road. Rescue Riders Pet Transport. We alternate between the Northeast and the Midwest every other weekend.

Story
Berk is available for foster to adopt. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the subject line BERK  if you are interested.  BERK - Catahoula/Lab Mix, 4 months, 30lbs, Neutered, Expected to Be About 60lbs Full Grown  We cannot guarantee breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses, though! Please read everything below and submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org if this pup seems like a good fit for your family :) Home Recommendation Berk is adjusting to the city pretty well! He would do great with staying in the city but of course wouldn't say no to a home in the burbs. Puppies do best in homes that are ready to commit to their needs. Raising a puppy is lots of fun but we won’t beat around the bush: it’s also a lot of work. Puppies can be raised in the city or out of the city. They are very adaptable. Puppies need adopters that are full of energy themselves and can keep up with their new four legged best friend.  Level of Dog Ownership Experience Needed  BERK  is an Intermediate level puppy. This means that ideally the adopter has primary dog ownership of a breed or energy level similar to this pup. At a minimum the adopter should have solid experience doing things like dog sitting, or fostering young dogs or dogs of a similar breed. This means that if you've only dog sat, fostered or owned a senior dog or low energy breed then this isn't the right fit for you. Adopters should have some hands-on experience with taking care of puppies and/or teenagers. Adopters should be comfortable around working breed dogs. Adopters should be ready for everything that entails raising a puppy: lots of training, patience and socialization. All puppies have the potential to develop into the goodest boys and girls but it’s in the hands of the adopter. Lastly, adopters should truly understand that a puppy is going to go through many developmental phases. His Foster Mom Says: "Berk has been an amazing puppy so far! His puppy eyes take cuteness to a whole new level, one’s brown, and the other is a mix of brown and blue, perfectly complementing his brown leopard coat, making him quite a catch! He is a bit of a goofball with a warm heart. Loves to get pets from his humans and will follow us around the apartment like our little shadow. He plays with his toys with us and by himself. He is funny and will bring his toy to bed when he is done playing with us. He sometimes chews on the furniture or floor but will stop if redirected with a toy or bone. Berk is still figuring out the whole bathroom-on-cement thing – we live in Stuytown, and for now, he prefers going on the leaves in the plant beds. Within a couple of days Berk has caught on to potty training and is down to barely any accidents in the house. When he needs to go out he rings the bell hanging at the front door and so far it has been working. He’s a little shy about being left alone, pacing and letting out howls when we step out, but otherwise, when we are home he’s very quiet. I’m confident he will improve with being home alone in no time! He’s a good sleeper, usually sleeps through the night and squeezes in a few naps during the day. He’s been a great coworker the last couple of days. Overall he’s a 10/10 puppy and would recommend to most people! He is also doing ok in the city and taking everything in like a champ! " Energy Level  Higher - - As an adult this pup will need a solid continuous 90 minute walk (at a minimum) in addition to potty breaks/relief walks/short walks. Working breed dogs were bred to do jobs so it’s super important to make sure that they get the right level of exercise and stimulation daily. Working breed dogs need more than just simply being “let out in the yard”.  So far his foster parent says that Berk is very fun outdoors but knows how to mellow out indoors.  Personality        Life of the Party - - Wants to be friends with everyone who walks by, super social butterfly, loves anyone who will stop to say hello. Cuddle Factor Medium  - - Likes to snuggle when he is in the mood but will go back to his own space.  Potty Trained Yes -  Berk is having few or no accidents - knows to go outside and rings a bell when he needs to use the bathroom. Prefers to do his business on leaves mulch or grass.  Comfy With Strangers? Yes - - Puppies are super friendly with new people, they love to make friends. It’s super important to socialize puppies in a safe controlled environment.  Social With Children?  (ALWAYS requires supervision) Yes - - Puppies are okay for homes with respectful kids aged 6 and up. Puppies are not a good match for kids younger than 6 years old as puppies go through teething phases: which can be very intense and result in little kids getting hurt.  Social With Dogs? Yes - - Puppies have all the potential to be extremely social with other dogs. Socializing puppies with other puppies and adult dogs is a huge part of raising a puppy. It should be done in a safe and controlled environment: puppy classes and playdates with trusted dogs are a great way to do this.  Social With Cats? Yes - - Fun fact all puppies have the potential to be best friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to help set boundaries with the cat (like not being able to chase the cat). The cat should also be a friendly cat as a puppy is not a great idea for a grumpy cat.  Mouthy Play   Medium to Higher - - He sometimes will escalate to chewing hands during play time but hasn’t been too bad. He will try and eat pretty much anything - rugs, furniture, the floor lol. But he will listen to us and stop chewing if we present him a toy or bone. He is working on being fully crate trained so he can be left home alone. This is very common for his age. Berk does respond to correction.  Leash Manners Will Need to Learn This Skill - - Getting the hang of it! .Will be super important to work on leash manners from the get go. Many trainers recommend starting to train the command heel (best way to prevent pulling on the leash) from an early age.  Jumping Manners Will Need to Learn This Skill - - Puppies are prone to jumping up on people when they are excited. It’s important to work on this behavior from an early age. It’s cute when they are little but not so much when they are full grown. Good habits start early. Separation Anxiety Medium - -  Berk is learning how to be home alone. He doesn't cry when his people leave but he will settle down. On par for his age!  Crate Trained - - Getting used to his crate. Doing well with crate training.  Medical Status Up to date on their DHPP, Bordetella Vaccine, and Rabies Vaccine.  How Did They End Up With Social Tees Animal Rescue? This pup was originally left anonymously at a high volume shelter in TN where they were at risk of euthanasia. Our rescue partner based down there pulled this dog, had the initial veterinary care done, and transported them to NYC. While in Social Tees care, they are kept in attentive and loving foster homes. Many dogs are rescued from the south because the pet overpopulation problem there is much worse than it is in the northern parts of the country. This seems to be because far fewer people are having their pets spayed/neutered in the south, the climate is warmer so animals are reproducing year round, and the human population in these areas is less dense so there aren't enough people to adopt them. In NYC and the surrounding area, we have a large human population, which in turn means the animals find forever homes at a higher rate up here. :)  PLEASE NOTE: This animal is not at the Social Tees office — all of our dogs and cats are in foster homes while they wait to find their forever families. :) If you’d like to apply to adopt this pet, please complete an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Because we are a small team and receive hundreds of applications each week, we are unable to respond to every application and every inquiry email, but we do our best. Please have patience! If your application is approved, you will for sure hear from us. If you have questions, please take a look at the Adoption and Fostering FAQs etc. on our website as all common questions are answered there. Thank you for your understanding and flexibility as we work to save these innocent lives!!  LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org; Instagram via @socialteesnyc; Facebook.com/socialteesanimalrescue

Story
49 lbs, 2 years, Catahoula mix, Spayed female  This dog is eligible to join our foster-to-adopt program. Please email fostertoadopt@socialteesnyc.org with the animal’s name in the subject line if you are interested! Want to straight-up adopt? Submit an adoption application at socialteesnyc.org. Thier Foster Says: "Vindaloo is such a special dog and may be one of the sweetest girls I have ever come across. She has so much love to offer and quickly warms up to people, walking straight into your heart with her soulful eyes. She has done a wonderful job adjusting to the city, showing little to no interest in the hustle and bustle constantly occurring around her on walks. Watching her come out of her shell has been so rewarding - she was initially freaked out by elevators but now confidently strides into them knowing they are taking her somewhere fun, she has a cute prance on walks now that just makes you smile and has started engaging in playtime with dogs she comes across. She is an absolute doll to every person and dog she meets, only showing a very sweet demeanor and curiosity as to who they are. She has really enjoyed socializing with other dogs and has great playtime behavior, making her ideal to add as a sibling to another animal. Vindaloo is an old pro on the leash, she rarely pulls or zigzags around. She loves a good long walk in the morning/evening so she can get some playtime in but is just as happy with a shorter walk if needed. Once she is at home (regardless of how long her exercise was), you can find her passed out on the couch, napping like a baby - this girl can sleep! She would love nothing more than to sleep next to you at night, she sleeps through the night and will stay in bed until it's time to wake up. She hasn't shown much interest in toys but has enjoyed chasing a ball around. She has not once shown any interest in household items and has left every "human" item untouched. Vinnie will do just about anything for a treat making her great to train and we are currently working on shake! She does display separation anxiety, tending to whine/bark when left alone but we are working through this - currently working on building up her confidence when left alone in her crate. Vindaloo is such a sweet and precious girl, so deserving of a loving home where she can shine." Level of dog ownership experience needed: INTERMEDIATE: This dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Cuddle bug level: High - Vindaloo is an absolute cuddle bug, when you are on the couch she will be curled up right next to you and would gladly sleep right by your side at night. She loves getting pets and will stare lovingly into your eyes as you dot our attention. But she also likes her independence for naps. Potty trained? Yes - No accidents  Comfy with strangers? Yes - Vindaloo is so incredibly friendly to both dogs and humans alike. She is somewhat shy so she will approach slowly but once she gives a good smell, she will be everyone's best friend (especially if you have a treat!).  Comfortable with children? (ALWAYS requires adult supervision) Yes - Okay for a home with respectful children. Vindaloo is very gentle. Vinnie would be perfect for any type of family, she is so sweet and gentle with everyone. She has gotten some exposure to kids (babies to toddlers) and has done so well, giving some licks and mostly looking to steal their snacks. Social with other dogs? Yes - A social butterfly, always wanting to say hi to any dog passing along and has not shown any aggression to any breed/size/gender. Respectful of other small animals? (cats, pocket pets, etc.) Yes - we think she would be okay with cats. We can cat test for approved adopters.  She has not shown any interest in pigeons/rodents that she's come across on walks, truly a gentle angel. Mouthy behavior: Low - Has not shown any interest in human items (other than food), has not reached for/chewed on any household items.  Leash manners: Old Pro – Seems like a dog that has been on a leash before. Doesn’t pull hard or need much direction.  Okay in the city? Yes - Vindaloo is a city pro, you would think she has lived here her whole life! Jumping to say hi? Low – Doesn’t jump up on people or dogs. Always all four on the floor.  Separation anxiety? Working On It - Might cry for a few minutes while she gets used to being left home alone in a new home.  Crate trained? Working On it - Working on crate training, have her practice being in the crate during the day while home so she gets used to it. She will whine for a little but settles herself down. She currently eats in her crate to associate it with a positive action.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full-grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes. LEARN MORE ABOUT US: socialteesnyc.org and Instagram @socialteesnyc
