Story
Meet Chani!   Name: Chani Age: 3 years old Sex: Male, neutered Breed: Poodle Colour: Brown Weight: 5.9 kg (13 lbs) Height: 38 cm (15 in) at the shoulder   About Chani   Chani is a sweet, affectionate little Poodle who absolutely adores people. Before being rescued, he was kept in a raised cage and used for grooming practice and dog shows. Now, he’s ready to leave that life behind and find a family of his own.   Chani is definitely a people dog. He happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, leaning in for pets and affection. He’s comfortable with both men and women, enjoys being touched, and doesn’t mind being picked up or held. Being close to his humans is where he feels happiest.   With Other Dogs   Chani is friendly and polite when meeting other dogs, but he’s not particularly interested in playing with them. He tends to prefer dogs around his own size and may feel a little overwhelmed by dogs who are very energetic or persistent.   He’s not one to look for trouble — if another dog bothers him, Chani would much rather walk away and avoid the situation. Overall, if given the choice between hanging out with dogs or hanging out with people, he’ll choose his humans every time.   With Cats   Chani’s reaction to cats has not yet been tested. A cat test can be arranged if needed.   Energy & Walks   Chani has a moderate energy level. He enjoys his walks and outdoor time, and once he’s had a chance to get some exercise, he settles down nicely to rest.   He also does well with everyday distractions on walks. Passing people, other dogs, and unfamiliar sights such as someone carrying an umbrella don’t seem to bother him much.   At Home   Chani does not show food guarding toward people or other dogs, and he currently does most of his pottying outdoors.   Because Chani loves people so much and becomes very attached to them, being left alone may be one of the areas he’ll need some help with in his new home. He can bark or jump when separated from people and may whine when kenneled if he can see someone nearby.   As with many rescue dogs transitioning into a completely new environment, his adopter should be prepared for the possibility of separation anxiety and be willing to work on alone time gradually and patiently. We can’t know exactly how he’ll respond until he settles into his new home, so someone who can give him time to adjust would be the best fit.   The Home Chani Is Looking For   Chani would be happiest with someone who truly wants an affectionate companion and enjoys having their dog nearby. He has so much love to give and is just looking for a person or family he can finally call his own.   After spending part of his life in a cage, we’d love for Chani’s next chapter to be filled with walks, cozy naps, affection, and the security of knowing that he’s finally home. Story
MEET SYLVIE   Name: Sylvie Age: 3 years old Sex: Spayed Female Breed: Poodle Colour: Silver Weight: 4.5 kg (9.9 lbs) Height: 30 cm (11.8 in) at the shoulder   RESCUE STORY Sylvie was found wandering around an apartment complex for two days before she was reported and brought to a municipal shelter. Sadly, she was later placed on the euthanasia list, and that’s when she was rescued and given another chance.   PERSONALITY & PEOPLE Sylvie can be a little shy with new people at first, but treats are a quick way to win her over! She will take treats from strangers and usually warms up fairly quickly, allowing them to pet her.   Once she feels comfortable with someone, she becomes much more expressive and likes to follow her person around. She may even bark to get your attention when she wants you to notice her. Interestingly, although she enjoys being close to her people, she can still seem a little awkward when someone tries to cuddle or pet her. She can be safely picked up by supporting her under the belly.   WITH OTHER DOGS Sylvie will approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but she generally isn’t interested in playing or interacting much beyond that. She prefers dogs around her own size or smaller and does not appreciate dogs that are overly persistent, bothersome, or much larger than she is.   Overall, she tends to mind her own business and shows very little interest in other dogs.   WITH CATS Sylvie’s reaction to cats has not yet been observed. A cat test can be arranged if needed.   ENERGY LEVEL Sylvie has a moderate energy level. She enjoys spending time outdoors and going for walks, but once she has had her activity, she settles down nicely and is happy to relax.   WALKS Sylvie tends to walk while looking to and relying on her handler for guidance. She can react to sudden noises or the sound of passing cars, but she is manageable and walks well in quieter areas.   AT HOME & OTHER BEHAVIOUR Sylvie does not show food guarding toward either people or other dogs.   She does tend to bark when separated from people, so separation anxiety may be something her adopter needs to be prepared to work through, particularly during the adjustment period in a new home.   When placed in a kennel, she may whine initially but generally settles once she realizes it’s time to rest.   Sylvie currently uses pee pads indoors and also eliminates outdoors.   Sylvie is a sweet little girl who may need a little time to get comfortable at first, but once she knows you, she’ll happily follow you around and make sure you don’t forget she’s there. She would do best with an adopter who can give her patience, consistency, and time to adjust to her new life. Story
Meet Odi — A Sweet, Easygoing Poodle Mix Looking for His Forever Home!   Name: Odi Age: 5 years old Sex: Neutered Male Breed: Poodle Mix Colour: Black Weight: 5.7 kg (12.6 lbs) Height: 36 cm (14 in) at the shoulder   Rescue Story   Odi arrived at a municipal shelter already fully groomed, but sadly no one came to claim him. When he was placed on the euthanasia list, he was rescued and given a second chance.   Personality & People   Odi is a friendly, affectionate little guy who genuinely enjoys being around people. He happily approaches both familiar people and strangers, rubs against them for attention, and is comfortable being touched.   He is friendly with both men and women and can easily be picked up with an arm under his belly. He may even roll over and show his belly to someone he has just met!   With Other Dogs   Odi is polite with other dogs but is much more people-oriented than dog-oriented. He will approach unfamiliar dogs to say hello, but generally has little interest in playing or interacting beyond that.   If another dog is overly pushy with him, he may give a small growl to communicate that he would like some space. Otherwise, he coexists peacefully with other dogs and does not look for conflict. He simply seems to prefer spending time with people or relaxing on his own.   With Cats   Odi has been cat-tested and did well. A cat-test video is available.   Energy Level   Odi has a moderate energy level. He enjoys walks and being outdoors, but once his outdoor activities are done, he is happy to settle down and relax quietly.   Walking   Odi is an experienced and easy walking companion. He does not pull on leash and follows his handler well.   For Odi, walks are all about the smells! He likes to stop frequently to sniff and explore rather than simply walking from point A to point B. He also enjoys marking outdoors.   Other Behaviours   Odi:   Shows no food guarding toward people or other dogs Rarely barks Settles calmly in a kennel/crate Does not get carsick Is currently accustomed to going to the bathroom outdoors   Because Odi tends to mark more when he is around many dogs, there may be some marking during the first day or two while adjusting to a new environment. Using a belly band temporarily can help during the transition. When one was used with him for about a day, he stopped trying to mark indoors.   Odi would be a wonderful match for someone looking for an affectionate, people-loving companion who enjoys his walks but is also happy to relax quietly at home. He doesn’t need a canine playmate to keep him entertained — being close to his person is more his style.   If you think Odi could be the one for you, please apply!
