Story
EXERCISE NEEDS: Now and Then EASE OF TRAINING: Capable FRIENDLINESS WITH PEOPLE: Outgoing PLAYFULNESS: Amateur FRIENDLINESS WITH DOGS: Social LEASH MANNERS: Almost Never Pulls Meet Chico, a charming 2-year-old Chihuahua with a heart twice the size of his tiny body. This little guy is the ultimate "people person"—if there’s a lap available, he’s already claiming it as his throne. Chico is a professional cuddler and a playful spirit who finds joy in every squeaky toy and friendly face he meets. While he’s currently a bit "extra to love," he’s looking for a dedicated partner to help him on his fitness journey; he’s a big fan of snacks, so he'll need a human who can swap the high-calorie treats for some healthy greens and plenty of playtime. Chico is looking for a forever home where he can truly settle in, and he’d be even happier if he could bring his best friend Vida along!

Story
EXERCISE NEEDS: Weekend Athlete EASE OF TRAINING: Capable FRIENDLINESS WITH PEOPLE: Outgoing PLAYFULNESS: On Request FRIENDLINESS WITH DOGS: Selective LEASH MANNERS: Pulls Sometimes Meet Tyson, a 7-year-old Chihuahua who is the undisputed king of the "chill life." This seasoned gentleman knows exactly what he wants: a comfy lap, a tasty snack, and someone to listen to his stories. Tyson is a talkative soul who isn't afraid to use his voice to tell you just how much he missed you—usually accompanied by a top-tier Wiggle Butt performance! Tyson is the definition of a Couch Potato. While he’s food motivated and always down for a treat, his favorite activity is definitely a world-class snuggle session. Because he has a collapsing trachea (a common condition for little guys like him), he’s a "harness-only" walker to keep his neck safe and his breathing easy. Once he’s geared up, he’s a happy little explorer, though he does prefer to be the one choosing his canine acquaintances, as he’s a bit dog selective.

EXERCISE NEEDS: Now and Then EASE OF TRAINING: Willing FRIENDLINESS WITH PEOPLE: Loves Everyone PLAYFULNESS: On Request FRIENDLINESS WITH DOGS: Social LEASH MANNERS: Almost Never Pulls Meet Vida, a one-year-old Chihuahua who is living proof that the best things come in small (and slightly itchy) packages. Vida is "sweet as pie" and lives for two things: belly rubs and her best friend, Chico. While Vida is currently working through some skin sensitivities, her spirit is completely untouched. She is a social butterfly who walks like a pro on a leash and gets along with every dog she meets. She and Chico are a packaged deal—where one goes, the other follows! If you have a soft spot for a resilient girl and a duo that will keep your lap warm forever, Vida and Chico are waiting for you.

Story
In this high-energy shelter environment, Scooby is a bit of a wallflower. They're just s a sensitive soul who finds the bells and whistles of kennel life a little overwhelming, but we’ve seen their true personality start to peek through during quiet one-on-one time. Scooby's behavior is a situational reaction rather than a personality flaw. While the shelter isn't a favorite place to be, we know that in a predictable home environment, they are going to shine. They're looking for a partner who understands that the best things in life are worth waiting for. Don't let the missing leg or the shy exterior fool you—Scooby is a master of the comeback! He is lving proof that dogs are born with 3 legs and a spare and survive and THRIVE just fine as a tri-pawd. If you have a soft spot for the underdog (or the "tri-dog"!), Scooby is ready to be your devoted shadow.

Story
Muñeca is a sweet 1-year-old Chihuahua mix with a playful spirit and a loving heart. She gets along wonderfully with children and, in her previous home, did well living with a cat. She may be a little shy when meeting new dogs at first, but with time and patience, her outgoing personality begins to shine. Muñeca loves playing with her toys especially ones that make fun noises! She enjoys running and playing in the yard, but she’s just as happy being a cuddly lap dog soaking up affection. She also rides well in the car, making her a great companion for outings and adventures. She knows several cues, including “sit,” “stay,” and “down,” and is eager to please. Muñeca is not currently house trained; in her previous home, she had access to a small dog door to go outside for potty breaks. With consistency and routine, she has great potential to learn quickly. If you’re looking for a playful, affectionate companion who will bring joy and energy into your home, Muñeca may be the perfect match! For more information on how to adopt, please call the shelter to see if this pet is still available for adoption. Then come to the shelter for a meet and greet. We are open 10:30-6 Tuesday – Friday and 10:30 – 4 on Saturday (closed 1-2 for lunch and the last Friday of every month).
