Story
Meet Max: 10-year-old Chihuahua mix, around 17 lbsMax’s story didn’t start kindly—but we are determined to make sure it doesn’t end that way.Max was recently brought to us after his previous owner requested euthanasia due to “skin issues” and difficulty getting along with another dog. However, what we discovered was sadly a senior dog who had been living in neglectful conditions, including being confined to a small cat carrier for much of the day. As a result, Max arrived in very poor shape—suffering from severe skin irritation, hair loss on his hind end from constant itching, red and infected paws, scabbed and infected ears, and nails so overgrown they were twisting together. The good news? Max is finally getting the care he deserves. He is currently under medical treatment, and we’re already seeing improvement as he begins to feel relief and comfort for the first time in a long while.Despite everything he’s endured, Max remains gentle, sweet, and trusting. He has been tested with other small dogs and has done well—no aggression at all. He is social and curious. In the shelter environment, he does mark occasionally, which is very common given the overwhelming smells and stress, but he otherwise appears house-trained and walks nicely on a leash.Max’s Highlights:~ Senior gentleman with a calm, loving demeanor~ Good with other small dogs~ Walks well on a leash~ Appears house-trained~ His medical issues are being treated currently by our medical teamMax is not a “problem dog.” He’s a dog who was failed—and who now needs someone willing to offer patience, understanding, and love as he continues his recovery. He deserves a quiet, patient home to continue healing. If you have room in your heart (and home) for a senior who still has so much love to give, Max is ready to show you just how grateful he can be.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Liora!  Liora is a sweet and playful 4-year-old Chihuahua mix looking for her forever home. While we’re not quite sure what else she may be mixed with, one thing is certain — she’s full of personality and charm! Liora weighs a little over 20 pounds, making her a great medium-size companion. She enjoys being active, walks nicely on a leash, and is crate trained, which makes her an easy addition to a loving home. Liora has a fun, playful side and would love an adopter who enjoys spending time with her, whether that’s going for walks or just hanging out together. Liora came to Pet Rescue By Judy through no fault of her own after her owner could no longer care for her. She has not yet been around children, other dogs, or cats, so at this time we’re unsure how she will do with them. As we get to know Liora better, we’ll be sure to update her page with any new information.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 29, 2026, 8:10 pm
