Story
Meet Scout, an adorable 20lb Terrier/Chi/Cattle Dog type mix who came from local animal control as an unclaimed stray. He is a very sweet boy who loves to be with people and receive attention. He knows sit and paw and will happily offer those commands whenever you would like, sometimes even when you are not asking for them. He has not been a fan of other dogs since arriving at the shelter. Scout has lots of energy and is working on leash manners. Because of his dog reactivity, he will need some work on walks. A fenced yard would be great for him. He does love to run around, chase toys, and sniff in the grass. He can tend to grab the leash to try to tug or be a little mouthy when he gets excited. He is looking for a home with no children or other dogs.

Story
Meet Chewy, a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing about 16 pounds. He was found as a stray and never reclaimed, so now he is looking for a forever home! Chewy is very nervous and was mortified when he first came to us. He has made tremendous strides, though, and now enjoys pets and hanging out with his people. Chewy will need patience as he adjusts and gets to know you and starts to trust. Fast movements can spook him, but we have made lots of progress as far as leashing/unleashing and petting. He loves to go outside with his people to run around, sniff, and play with squeaky plush toys. He does chase the toys when thrown, but he likes to hold them instead of bringing them back. Chewy has met a few similar sized dogs and done okay. He does tend to match the energy of the other dogs, so if the other dog isn’t a fan, neither is Chewy. He has run around outside in a run next to one of our medium dogs and seemed to get excited when she got the zoomies. We are hoping with time and patience in a home, he will blossom! Chewy is looking for a home without children. It would be beneficial for an adopter to have experience with nervous dogs or finicky chihuahuas.Chewy has some allergies that were causing him to have a lot of skin irritation and upset stomach. He is now on a fish-based diet (Purina ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach- Salmon and Rice) as well as Apoquel, once daily, which helped tremendously. He will need to be on this long term.

Story
Marty is the cutest little dog! He is a sweet senior looking to have a loving home for his golden years. He is about 9.5 years old and weighs just at 22lbs. He was actually adopted out from WCHS in 2023 and was recently returned due to his owner having health issues. He’s back at the shelter, loving all the staff and volunteers but he really wants to be in a home! He is kid friendly and is good with dogs, but he can be protective of his owners so having him be the only dog in the household will lead to a happier life for all! He is fully vetted, appears housebroken and loves walks, pets and his favorite….belly rubs!

Story
Meet Primo, The tiniest man around. This little cutie is as sweet as pie. Weighing just about 4lbs, believe it or not, it is mostly heart. This sweet guy is dog and cat friendly. He is very sweet, gentle, house and kennel trained, and still learning to accept love. He loves snuggling on a lap, kisses on his dog cheeks, and hanging with his friends. He is very easy to get along with and as cute as they can be. He is not a vocal dude, but does have a cute raspy voice when he does decide to say hi. This guy would love a home with another dog around to teach him how to accept love. Adopt this sweet little friend today!

Story
Meet Lilo – The Blanket-Burrowing, Snack-Loving Sweetheart! 🐾 At 7 years young, this tiny Chihuahua is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly. Lilo may start off a little shy, but give her a gentle hello (and maybe a tasty treat), and you’ll soon discover her goofy, curious, and oh-so-loving personality. Lilo is: ✨ Dog & Cat Friendly – As long as her furry friends respect her space, she’ll happily share her home and may even invite them to a game of chase or tug. ✨ Housebroken & Crate Trained – She’s a pro at both, though she’ll tell you the crate is only acceptable if there’s a cozy blanket for burrowing. (Blankets = life.) ✨ Playful but Chill – Zoomies in the yard? Yes. Chasing toys with her foster siblings? Absolutely. Couch naps and cuddle sessions right beside her human? Her favorite. ✨ Smart & Eager – She’s mastered “sit” and is working on “stay.” With positive training and encouragement, she’ll keep impressing you! Lilo is the definition of a loyal little shadow—quietly sneaking into the room just to stand beside you, always happiest when she’s near her people. She adores mealtime, snack-time, and blanket-time equally, and she’ll shower you with her quirky, sweet affection in return for a forever home. If you’re looking for a curious, playful, and ridiculously cuddly companion, Lilo is ready to burrow into your heart (and your blankets). 💕 The adoption fee for Lilo is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Lilo please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.

Story
🌸 Meet Chloe – The Sweetest Little Lady Around! Age: 15 years young Breed: Chihuahua mix (best guess!) Gender: Female Don’t let Chloe’s age fool you — this petite sweetheart still has plenty of pep in her step! She may be 15, but she acts more like she’s 8 or 10. Chloe enjoys gentle playtime with her foster dog friends, leisurely walks (she’s great on leash and never pulls), and cozy naps under her favorite blankets — sometimes she even covers herself up like a little burrito! Chloe is wonderfully well-mannered: she’s housebroken, non-destructive, and doesn’t need a crate. She gets along beautifully with other friendly dogs and enjoys the company of calm, respectful children (school-aged and up would be her preference). She loves meeting new people and dogs — always polite and sweet. She’s currently living in a foster home with two other dogs, where she fits right in — sometimes playing gently with her younger foster sister, and quietly hanging out with the older one. Chloe has adapted to her routine perfectly and knows when it’s mealtime or bedtime. Chloe’s favorite things include: 💛 Being talked to and doted on by her people 💛 Gentle playtime and short walks 💛 Chasing treats and toys 💛 Snuggling under blankets and resting her little head on your lap Chloe would thrive in a quieter home with lots of love, soft blankets, and kind humans who will cherish her golden years. She’s a lovely, gentle soul who gives back tenfold the love she receives. If you’re looking for a sweet companion with a heart full of love and a touch of spunk, Chloe might just be your perfect match! 💕
