Story
Meet Scout, an adorable 20lb Terrier/Chi/Cattle Dog type mix who came from local animal control as an unclaimed stray. He is a sweet boy who loves to be with people and receive attention. He knows sit and paw and will happily offer those commands whenever you would like, sometimes even when you are not asking for them. Scout has lots of energy and is working on leash manners. Because of his dog reactivity, he will need some work on walks. A fenced yard would be great for him. He does love to run around and sniff in the grass. He can tend to grab the leash to try to tug or be a little mouthy when he gets excited. He is looking for a home with no children or other pets.

Story
Meet Chewy, a 2-year-old Chihuahua mix, weighing about 16 pounds. He was found as a stray and never reclaimed, so now he is looking for a forever home! Chewy is very nervous and was mortified when he first came to us. He has made tremendous strides, though, and now enjoys pets and hanging out with his people. Chewy will need patience as he adjusts and gets to know you and starts to trust. Fast movements can spook him, but we have made lots of progress as far as leashing/unleashing and petting. He loves to go outside with his people to run around, sniff, and play with squeaky plush toys. He does chase the toys when thrown, but he likes to hold them instead of bringing them back. Chewy has met a few similar sized dogs and done okay. He does tend to match the energy of the other dogs, so if the other dog isn’t a fan, neither is Chewy. He has run around outside in a run next to one of our medium dogs and seemed to get excited when she got the zoomies. We are hoping with time and patience in a home, he will blossom! Chewy is looking for a home without children. It would be beneficial for an adopter to have experience with nervous dogs or finicky chihuahuas.Chewy has some allergies that were causing him to have a lot of skin irritation and upset stomach. He is now on a fish-based diet (Purina ProPlan Sensitive Skin and Stomach- Salmon and Rice) as well as Apoquel, once daily, which helped tremendously. He will need to be on this long term.

Story
Marty is the cutest little dog! He is a sweet senior looking to have a loving home for his golden years. He is about 9.5 years old and weighs just at 22lbs. He was actually adopted out from WCHS in 2023 and was recently returned due to his owner having health issues. He’s back at the shelter, loving all the staff and volunteers but he really wants to be in a home! He is kid friendly and is good with dogs, but he can be protective of his owners so having him be the only dog in the household will lead to a happier life for all! He is fully vetted, appears housebroken and loves walks, pets and his favorite….belly rubs!

Story
Meet Benny — the little lovebug everyone falls for the moment they meet him! Born on 10/26, Benny is a Chihuahua–Terrier mix who is currenly 7 lbs. His beautiful brown-and-white coat and big, soulful brown eyes make him a total heart-stealer. Benny is the softest spirit of the trio. When he’s awake, he’s playful and curious, but he’s also the king of cozy naps. His favorite place to sleep? Snuggled right up against anyone — humans, adult dogs, siblings… he’s not picky as long as he’s wrapped in warmth. He melts into your arms, drifts off on your lap, and happily snoozes tucked under a furry friend. He is also full of energy and little dog sass - he will need a home with kids 8 or older as he is pretty nippy at the moment If you’re looking for a gentle, cuddly companion who will shower your home with sweetness (and naps!), Benny might be the perfect match for you. Story
Meet Lilo – The Blanket-Burrowing, Snack-Loving Sweetheart! 🐾 At 7 years young, this tiny Chihuahua is the perfect mix of playful and snuggly. Lilo may start off a little shy, but give her a gentle hello (and maybe a tasty treat), and you’ll soon discover her goofy, curious, and oh-so-loving personality. Lilo is: ✨ Dog & Cat Friendly – As long as her furry friends respect her space, she’ll happily share her home and may even invite them to a game of chase or tug. ✨ Housebroken & Crate Trained – She’s a pro at both, though she’ll tell you the crate is only acceptable if there’s a cozy blanket for burrowing. (Blankets = life.) ✨ Playful but Chill – Zoomies in the yard? Yes. Chasing toys with her foster siblings? Absolutely. Couch naps and cuddle sessions right beside her human? Her favorite. ✨ Smart & Eager – She’s mastered “sit” and is working on “stay.” With positive training and encouragement, she’ll keep impressing you! Lilo is the definition of a loyal little shadow—quietly sneaking into the room just to stand beside you, always happiest when she’s near her people. She adores mealtime, snack-time, and blanket-time equally, and she’ll shower you with her quirky, sweet affection in return for a forever home. If you’re looking for a curious, playful, and ridiculously cuddly companion, Lilo is ready to burrow into your heart (and your blankets). 💕 The adoption fee for Lilo is $400. This donation helps to cover veterinary expenses including spay/neuter, microchip and vaccinations. Wish Upon a Rescue is a 501(c)3 non-profit, foster based animal rescue. If you would like to meet Lilo please complete our adoption questionnaire at www.wishuponarescue.org/adopt. We will review your responses and be in contact to schedule a meet and greet at a time and place convenient for your family and our team member.
