Story
It`s kind of scary to make new friends when you`re a shy guy like me, but I sure try! I`m Ernie, a cute as can be, 7-year-old Chihuahua mix. I`m here at Animal Ark because, unfortunately, my owner became ill and couldn`t continue my care. I am used to living in a home with just the 2 of us, so I would do best as the only pet in my new home, without children. Once I get to know you, I want to be your lap companion and get all the attention you can give. I`m very smart and know lots of commands, plus I`m crate trained and housebroken. I will need some time to adjust to new surroundings so I`m looking for a patient owner who will work with me on getting comfortable. Please fill out an adoption application online we can get a meet and greet scheduled!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Lewey, the ever-so-loving long-haired Chihuahua who will melt your heart! Lewey is eager to show off his adorable underbite, complemented by freshly cleaned choppers. This sweet boy came to us through a breeder release. While we don’t know the exact conditions he was raised in, it was clear he hadn’t experienced the care and love of a true family pet. Upon arrival, Lewey’s skin was flaky and dry, and he had numerous sores. His ears were infected, and he desperately craved love and attention. Now, in his foster home, he’s adjusting beautifully and showing us what a resilient little dog he is. Lewey gets along well with other dogs, though he mostly ignores them, preferring to spend his days snoozing peacefully. Potty training is a work in progress, and he’ll need a belly band to help with accidents. The cold weather hasn’t been ideal for his training, but can you blame him? It’s been crazy out there! Despite this, Lewey’s foster family is helping him along, and he’s making steady progress. Occasionally, Lewey will bark at things he finds amiss or when furniture is moved around. He’s a little guardian of order and remembers where everything belongs! Recently, Lewey underwent a full dental cleaning, during which nine teeth were pulled. He’s feeling much better now and is on track for his neuter appointment on January 29th. After one week of post-op recovery, he’ll be ready to join his forever family. The vet did note a mild heart murmur at this appointment. Nothing needs to be done right now but it is something to note and keep an eye on at future appointments. Lewey is searching for a loving home where he can continue to heal, receive care for his skin, and work on his training. This little guy has been through so much but remains a bundle of love, ready to brighten your life with his gentle spirit. Are you the one to give Lewey the happy ending he deserves?Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, my name is boyfriend, but my foster family calls me Joey because I like to stand and bounce like a kangaroo and look like one too! I was found with my girlfriend in an abandoned car in St. Paul and never claimed. First off I’m 100% chihuahua. I know what I want and when I want it. I’ve been doing well in my foster home although potty training is still a work in progress. I do tolerate belly bands to catch any accidents. I’m very well behaved in the house when alone and have been able to be out and about in the house. I live with dogs and cats in my foster home. The dogs and I get along great, but the cats I’m not so sure. At times I think they aren’t meant to be my toy rather than housemate. Only dog savvy cats for me in my forever home. I am super happy to sit and cuddle in your lap.  In fact, it’s where I prefer to be and I love sleeping under the covers in bed!  I love people and I just want to meet everyone I see and I can’t wait to meet you! NOTE: Boyfriend tested positive for Lyme's disease at his routine exam. He was asymptomatic and was treated with a round of antibiotics. Most dogs live with tick borne illnesses with no issues but his adopters will need to be aware of any flare up type symptoms. Story
This little fella is Hero.He came to us when he needed a change of scenery to help him find a forever home. He is a chihuahua mix and is only about 9 months old. Coming to the shelter has been very scary for this little man. He is nervous with fast movements and startles at strange noises. It takes time to earn his trust. He prefers when people talk softly to him and sit still, allowing him to approach them at his own time. Once he is comfortable with you, he will allow you to pick him up, hold him, and he will gladly sit in your lap and give small kisses.Hero needs a patient and quiet forever home where he can decompress and adjust on his own time. Due to his timid nature, it is recommended he go to a home either with older children or no children. He has been introduced to a small dog here at PCHS and lived with other dogs previously. He would likely do well with another doggy friend. If your home sounds like a good fit for Hero, apply today! Applications can be found on the homepage of the website. Adoption fee is $500 + $30 microchip fee + tax

Story
Meet Montana! This sweet little lady is making great progress with house training. While she’s had a few accidents, she does well as long as she stays on a consistent schedule. She’s also crate-trained, sleeping soundly through the night and settling in without a fuss when left alone. In fact, her crate is her safe space, and she often chooses to nap there on her own. Montana loves following her foster mom around the house and enjoys unwinding with the other dogs. She has fun trotting around the fenced yard but is always eager to come back inside when called. She does have a significant heart murmur caused by two heart valves that do not function properly. However, she shows no symptoms and remains a happy, loving companion. Her heart condition doesn’t slow her down—she’s still full of life, affection, and joy! Montana gets along wonderfully with other dogs, doesn’t mind cats, and is incredibly friendly with people. With her sweet, silly personality and love for snuggles, she’s sure to make an amazing companion. If you’re looking for a lovable little dog to brighten your days, Montana is ready to fill that spot in your heart! ❤️ Apply to adopt Montana today at www.tailsofhopewi.org!
