Story
Little Tito was found wandering outside of a very small town in Northern Illinois during a very cold spell this winter. He was wearing a leash and collar but no one came forward to claim him and the men who found him asked all over and no one had ever seen him before! He was cold and tired and hungry and grouchy (I would have been too!). He is a little guy at just 7 lbs but he has the big personality to make up for his size. He is very shy of strangers. Once he trusts you (usually around 24 hrs time) he will be your forever buddy and shadow. He loves to be held and carried and give kisses. WE do not suggest him in a home with small kids as he will nip if he is scared/startled. He is good with other dogs his size but does prefer others to be subordinate to him or female. He is unsure about cats.  ##2336168##

Story
** CHIHUAHUA EXPERIENCE A PLUS+ **  NO KIDS **  CAN BE ONLY DOG or SMALL FEMALE DOGS **  Meet SKIPPER!  He's an 8 yr old, 6.6 lb, Male, Long Hair Chihuahua. _________________________   Skipper had a horrible beginning.  Someone used a SHOCK COLLAR on this 6 lb dog and burned his neck and also damaged his vocal chords . See photo of neck area.    ________ ______ Skipper is your TYPICAL Chihuahua so if you have Chi Experience, it's a plus!  He doesn't always like being picked up and lets you know. He can be the Only Dog or prefers calm small female dogs his size in the home. Skipper has turned into a Snuggle Boy! He seems to be relaxing every day and trusting more and more. He'll jump in your lap when he wants attention and sits in your lap begging for scratches and belly rubs. He walks on a leash but does like to wander around a fenced yard. He's housebroken. He rides well in a car, usually on a bed/blanket on passenger seat or even be your navigator sitting on the center console! He is food motivated and food aggressive which means if he's eating, he does not like being bothered. Skipper is his own man, so he lets you know what he likes and doesn't like. Skipper's Perfect Family will understand him as a Chi, no kids in home and give him the love he never received before and in return, he becomes your one and only!   If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Skipper’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. We are a 100% foster-based rescue and all of our dogs live in approved foster homes. Story
*SPECIAL NEEDS - MENTALLY CHALLENGED- secure fenced yard - companion dog required* Meet Money Penny!   She's 8 yrs old, 14 lbs, Chihuahua Mix. Penny is a Special Needs Dog due to genetics. She was brought into rescue with 3 other dogs we believe were siblings.  She's fine physically . Her biggest issue is her fear, slow comprehension and super sensitive t o noises and she'll run to safe zone.   She eats well, and she will take food & treats from your fingers. She does hang sometimes with the other dogs as seen in the photos. So having another dog in home is a must for her to understand how to be a dog. She can not be handle but she will sit in the room on a dog bed or next to you on a couch if other dogs are around. She is not a lap dog. Because she is frightened quickly, she has not been taken outside because not sure how noises outside and the wide-open space would affect her and whether she will be controllable. Foster home is still working on that. She is 95% potty pad trained. Sometimes when she hears a noise and runs, she may potty just because of running. But 95% of the time she used potty pads. PENNY WOULD LOVE TO HAVE SOMEONE WHO WOULD JUST LET HER LIVE QUIETLY AND LEARN TO BE PART OF THE FAMILY. If you think you would like to make Penny part of your family, please fill out an Adoption Application and someone will call and talk to you about her personality.  She is a very sweet dog but not sure if she will ever adjust to loud noises. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Money’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. Story
Secure Fence (no electric fences) and companion dog REQUIRED Meet Dollar or “Dolly” a small 12 pound Chihuahua Mix.  We think she may be around 7 or 8 years old. Dolly is an extremely sweet dog but is also a nervous dog, but she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. Please read her entire bio to learn more about her . Dolly came from a home with many other dogs where she wasn’t given a lot of socialization.  Because of this there are things that scare her such as certain noises. The sound of Velcro, crinkling paper and fireworks. Reaching down to pick her up is also scary to her. She usually runs to her bed and then you can pick her up with no problem. Dolly does go outside to potty but sometimes going out the door is scary for her so her foster picks her up to take her outside.  Once outside she runs like the wind and loves being out in the fenced yard playing and chasing her foster buddies.  She will come back inside on her own with no problem.  She is also potty pad trained if not taken outside. She loves the other small dogs in her foster home so she will need a dog of similar size in the home. She will also need a completely secure fenced yard.  I f you do not have a secure fence and a small companion dog, please do not apply.  Dolly is not leash trained and probably never will be for her own safety. She can be a barker so no apartments for this girl. Due to Dolly's nervous nature, she will not be placed in a home with kids, only for her own safety as she is a big flight risk. When it’s time to sit and relax on the sofa, Dolly is the first one there and is on your lap practically before you sit down.  She is a silly little girl who loves being with her foster mom.  She would stay on your lap all day if you’d let her but sometimes foster mom has other things to do. Her foster mom is so proud of this little girl and the progress she has made in the time she’s been here.  When she first arrived, she wouldn’t even come into the same room and would not dare let anyone even touch her and now she a total lap dog, with a few quirks. She’s looking for that one special person who can accept her for who she is to give her the quiet home she so deserves. If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO.
