Story
🚨🚨ATTENTION RETIRES 🚨🚨 Lucille here, looking for someone retired she can spend her days with. She loves a nice lap, soft beds, bye bye rides, and a stoll around the neighborhood. Lucille is just 19lbs of bubbly personality. She is 7 yrs old and said to be a Chihuahua/Beagle mix. Her energy level is medium, and she doesn't require crating, if you need to run an errand without her. Lucille doesn't care for little kiddos or larger dogs, cats are probably a no go! She would be just fine, being the center of attention and doesn't need a large yard to satisfy her. She just had a dental and that little tooth that sticks out, not only adds to her cuteness, it doesn't stop her from treats. She is housebroken and will head to the door, letting you know, it's time. https://airtable.com/shrSbfFkCdeRMtZw2?fbclid=IwAR2Q_R2qh2bk6pwcDPnrL8722wGTJORafSAWJObVLvz0g6ASJOFxLIdvsRw

Story
We are the Denim Dogs: A timeless, tail-wagging collection. Enzo, Jordache, Old Navy, Lee, Gap, Levi and Wrangler. We all came from the same home where there were over 40 dogs! We are stitched together with charm, personality and that classic, all-American appeal. Just like your favorite jeans, we are reliable, flattering and always in style. Each of us brings our own fit and flair, but we all have a some of that beagle curiosity and a desire to be a part of a family. We are ready find our forever homes where we can stretch out, settle in and become someone's favorite. If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2675337##

Story
Meet Rosie — 11-Year-Old Chihuahua Rosie lost her home on 2/12/26 after her loving owners became ill. At 11 years old, this little lady is hoping to find a calm, gentle home where she can spend her golden years feeling safe and loved.Rosie may be small, but she has a confident and independent personality. Unlike many Chihuahuas who prefer to be carried everywhere, Rosie likes to travel on her own four paws and explore the world around her. She walks beautifully on leash and would enjoy daily strolls with her person.Rosie is very friendly with people and happily allowed visitors of all ages to pet her. While she’s not a dog who wants to be held constantly, she will eventually settle into your lap once she feels comfortable — especially if you`re relaxing on the floor with her. When meeting other dogs, Rosie can be a little nervous. She was initially vocal around other dogs but did show interest in a calmer dog once the environment quieted down. Because of this, she may be able to live with a calm dog with a proper introduction.Rosie would do best in a quiet home with gentle owners who understand Chihuahua personalities and can give her the peaceful environment she deserves. A senior household or a calmer home with children over 10 would likely suit her best. After losing the only home she’s known, Rosie is ready for a soft place to land — and someone to share her walks, naps, and quiet companionship with.

Story
Meet Ruby! This sweet young lady is everything wrapped up in one adorable little package. Ruby was rescued from a hoarding situation where she lived with many dogs in a small apartment with very little human interaction. Because of that, the world is still new to her — but she’s learning every day that it can be a safe and happy place. Ruby bonds easily with other dogs and truly thrives with canine companionship. She looks to other dogs for comfort and guidance, and meeting new dog friends is her absolute favorite thing! A confident, friendly dog in her forever home would help her continue to blossom. If you’re looking for a dog who instantly bonds with people, Ruby may not be your girl just yet. She needs a patient, loving, and understanding home that will give her the time and space to build trust at her own pace. Once she feels safe, you’ll see her sweet and silly personality shine. Ruby may be slow to trust, but she’s incredibly observant and learns quickly. From chasing her own shadow to hopping up on her hind legs to catch a moth, her goofy curiosity and innocent spirit will absolutely melt your heart. With patience, love, and a cozy spot to curl up at night, Ruby will grow into the most loyal and devoted companion. Local adoption only $200 (in TX)

Story
Baby Bat embodies the personality, uniqueness and likeness of the Batman. First, he works alone. No sidekicks or partners. He prefers solitude and his space. Baby Bat has lived with his foster and her dog pack for 5 years, he gets along with them but tolerates them at most. He would do well in a home where he is the only dog, no children, and adults only. Next, Baby Bat is an apex predator. Which means he needs his sleep and food and not to be interrupted or coddled when given either. Baby Bat is not a lap or cuddly dog. Finally, did we mention Baby Bat is a Chihuahua mix? That's a really important detail! Baby Bat is a great and loyal dog seeking a great family to adopt him! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)
